trello.com/b/GXLc34hk/epic-games-store-roadmap >In the last 2.5 months missed every single relevant feature update on their roadmap since it came out outside of adding a search feature and offline mode >Bumped back multiple features to months away >Shopping cart is still listed as 6+ months away
At least they haven't taken down their own games from GOG.com, Steam and GamersGate. Merely for pure idiocy, but still...
Zachary Gray
I've noticed the unceasing EGS posting on this board has gone away. I guess their freelancer contracts finally ran out.
Juan Garcia
>you can't just pull years of development out of a hat because you think steam does nothing What a shocker.
Dylan Perez
It could take 6 years or they could finish it tomorrow. Either way I'm still not using that store.
Evan Baker
I really wish I had fucking numbers to know if games are doing well on their store or not. Also it'll be annoying once E3 has its PC show and Epic buys up the fucking show.
Ian Gutierrez
I mean even Origin launched in a better state than the EGS
Jonathan Collins
meanwhile Steam cant update their UI for 10 years now
Grayson Harris
>freelancer contracts You wish. Those were actual devs, bro.
Samuel Evans
It'll probably start up again later when it's CHina business hours, or in a few days when the contract gets renewed.
Brayden Jenkins
I guess even the shills realized that calling Steam a monopoly doesn't work when it's revealed in a crystal clear fashion that what Epic is trying to create is a MUCH better example of a monopoly than Steam ever was.
Tyler Phillips
It's a special day for epic shills today.
Jonathan Anderson
I guess hiring competent devs was not something epic games was willing to spend money on. They probably just told their in-house teams to do the needful and just hoped for the best.
Kevin Gonzalez
That's even sadder desu.
Jace Parker
>it's June 4th >Epic shills don't post anymore Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
At least it had basic functionality for those past 10 years.
Dominic Martinez
>in-house teams It's cute that you think it wasn't a Chinese sweatshop full of code monkeys.
Ian Wright
>bought 2 games from epic because they were insanely cheap during the sale >will probably never use it again Boycotting is a spook. Moral competition is a spooky. Morality itself is a spook.
Tyler Foster
>Still no cloud saves
Lucas Carter
>They probably just told their in-house teams to do the needful and just hoped for the best.
They probably have one guy working on the EGS. Everyone else is working themselves to death on Fortnite seasonal content with 60 hour weeks minimum
Daniel Hall
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Also BP mode exists, in case you've been living under a rock, which changes the UI so it's functionally closer to a console dashboard.
At least those guys are millionaires after receiving the 88% developer share of the fortnite profits.
Benjamin Smith
too bad they have almost nothing to spend on since all their time is on Fortnite
Jonathan Gray
China will grow larger.
Jacob Garcia
Did you know that every time youtube changed it's layout, people got pissed off? Valve knows this. Besides, Steam's UI is pretty much as good as it gets. The only thing they can work more on is maybe the library, with better sorting and category management, which is already way better than what it was 10 years ago, mind you.
>after receiving the 88% developer share of the fortnite profits.
You think the grunts at Epic make any kind of royalties? It's all directly to the owners of Epic
Michael Lewis
On this day, 30 years ago. Nothing happened.
Aiden Adams
fake news
Julian Perez
It's changing very soon. Valve are having developers upload art for the new library view right now.
Cooper Cooper
If those devs supposedly get shares from a basket for employees, or royalties, wouldn't it be better to work for them for two years and hold onto those shares and sell them?
Blake Harris
They updated it like 2 years ago what are you talking about?
Adrian Robinson
>steam cloud saves >reliable I had to do a system restore and it fucked with my hardware ID and I lost every cloud save I had. Over 50 games that I had beaten including some hard shit like unlocking the unlimited ammo minigun and rpg in the re2 remake are completely unrecoverable. Contacted support and they basically told me "just beat the games again lol". Fuck steam support.
Joshua Gutierrez
retard
Joseph Williams
The saves are tied to your account, not your hardware Also, not every game supports cloud saving, it's mostly the newer ones that do
Benjamin Jones
>cloud saves aren't tied to accounts That doesn't make any sense. user, are you lying to us?
I've notice that the general push seems to have slow down. Epic didn't revolutionise everything and save gaming like every journalist was pushing, while having so notable fuck ups. But you can bet it will come back in a little bit
That's literally all I could think of that could have happened and steam support mentioned my hardware ID changing recently. My RE.net has all of my completion times and everything but my game has no data and my item box contains none of my unlocked guns. I'm open to ideas, I had a blast tearing through the game with the minigun and smg. Re2make has cloud saves, I know because one of the tips I got was to disable and then re-enable them to try and get them to download. This actually worked for my dying light saves but sadly no luck with me re2 saves. It's just incredibly frustrating losing all that hard work.
John Brooks
Who gives a shit? Epic is the only way you're going to play upcoming AAA games like Borderlands 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Enjoy your indie crap on Steam, I guess.
Logan Ramirez
Literally the shit the pulled last year at E3 for consoles. >EXCLUSIVE(tm) >(play first on EGS)
Andrew Miller
They really need to update their scripts because it was extremely obvious on top of the sudden influx of EGS threads that they were all reading from the same paper. Of all the shill threads, I have not read a single thing the store offers better than Steam other than "Steam is a monopoly!" and "It's good for competition..somehow?" bullshit they kept up.
Benjamin Gray
Well at least they had their priorities straight, buying exclusive deals to put in the dumpster fire of a store rather than making sure it wasn't a dumpster fire before chucking some games into it.
It was funny to watch them running in circles around the "how is steam a monopoly?" question.
John Gray
>No shopping cart >Publishers pull their product off the store for the duration of a 'sale' >Chinks try to steal your account every other day >"gives devs a bigger cut" - takes it from the customers pocket >certain countries have to pay more >Literally locks you from buying anything if you try to buy more than 4 games in a short amount of time >lacks basic features that even the shittiest of platforms have >can't even compete with uPlay and Origin, let alone Steam >caught stealing user data - changed terms of service soon after to "remove" the right to sue them for it >sends bugman shills to the asshole of the internet, only to bring more infamy to itself in the process >has to pay MILLIONS of dollars to get a game worth selling on their store >has to lure users with shitty indie game giveaways >has to bribe youtubers and twitch streamers to advertise their games >refuses to give sales numbers - just says arbitrary shit like "a sold more than b on steam, "it sold good, trust us lol" >Piss poor security. >Can't even keep up with their roadmap >Kept afloat solely thanks to a single meme game that's fleeting in popularity
I'm still surprised that they haven't added marketable colour schemes for the UI already. I mean there are emoticons (then their new chat app came up), but there is no marketable colour schemes. The next big update will have it, I'm sure.
Tyler Diaz
I don't think Steam wants to sell you customization options. That's a negative for consumers when they can just give the option to freely mess with it, which makes people want to use your service
Gabriel Parker
You can mod the steam UI at least
Nolan Anderson
>It's cute that you think it wasn't a Chinese sweatshop full of code monkeys. I don't think that. It was an AMERICAN sweatshop full of code monkeys.
Christopher Perry
It's something I've said to my friends before when they started selling CSGO sprays. If Steam didn't already let you freely change nickname and avatar to anything you want you can bet your ass Valve would monetize it.
Gavin Flores
Anyone else realised that their "roadmap" was probably just a load of shit? >users complain about lack of features, bad press >say they are adding it as soon as possible, good press >don't bother adding it and keep avoiding mentioning it
Carson Johnson
Everyone should have realized the moment they did that. You don't publicly show off an internal-use trello for anything but PR shit
Dominic Martin
It's been a good run at least. They managed to get me back into piracy. Havent pirated games in probably 9 years now, recently started up agian with a few epic exclusives. Thanks i guess, i kinda missed it.
Isaac Smith
>Saw the news in the breakroom at work >They were literally going up to random people in China and asking them about Tienanmen Square >none of them even knew what they were talking about That's sad that a big event like that was just completely wiped out of China's history like that.
Nathaniel Morales
They knew but they weren't any to talk on camera about it
Jaxson White
>Publishers pull their product off the store for the duration of a 'sale' >There is a chance that Borderlands 3 won't be on sale after E3, where Borderlands 3 will likely have SOME announcement. >Epic store is going to miss the post-E3 pre-order hype because they're too fucking retarded to be able to omit certain games from sales.
There were definitely a few they talked to you could tell knew, but were trying not to say anything., But a few seemed genuinely confused as to what the picture of the guy in front of the tanks was supposed to be about.
Isaac Stewart
It's far from over. Devs and publishers are slowly realizing that making your game an Epic exclusive doesn't do you any good. The fun continues when the very same people come crawling back.
Oliver Hernandez
>no shopping cart >can't freely buy whatever the fuck you want Yup, this is actually how socialism work. Glad you guys got to see it with games and not bread lines t. Venezuelan
For sure, but I'm not sure how much is successful information suppression and how much is just stupid people
Leo Miller
you could do the same thing with kent state in the US. if it doesn't get taught then people won't know about it. the funny part is you really don't need to crack down on dissemination, you can just not promote the memory and it pretty much disappears from the public consciousness. americans have shown that using patriotism to bury government wrongdoing is a far more effective tool for propaganda. >A Gallup Poll taken immediately after the shootings reportedly showed that 58 percent of respondents blamed the students, 11 percent blamed the National Guard and 31 percent expressed no opinion.
just about everyone in the US recognizes the tank man photo, but most people under 40 have never seen this pulitzer prize winning photo unless they went looking for it, despite it and similar photos being well-publicized at the time. all that remains of public consciousness is unspecific, fictionalized imagery like that seen in the Watchmen movie, which only hints at the history without ever explicitly stating that the government murdered student protesters and neither it nor the public were willing to punish any of the perpetrators. who needs totalitarianism when you have liberty like america's?
The "epic mega sale" is continuing until AFTER E3. Keep in mind there are games that were removed weeks ago from their store by now.
Adam Morales
looked him up, hes so irrelevant that hes not even the first 5 results on google, but whatever. Hes some bald fag with 250k subs who defends epic games whilst not having a brain because hes that much of a strawman.
Nicholas Gomez
>Epic exclusive preorders that got removed will miss out in E3 hype Oh, heads will roll. This is absolutely insane and there is no fucking way epic can come back from this On the other hand, bitchford and gaybox deserve this. Since their meme game isnt available anywhere else, they're gonna lose a shit ton of sales and will have nobody but themselves to kick and blame for it. Fuck them
I was taught about Kent State in public school though...
Kevin Gonzalez
You're a nobody maddox.
Daniel Foster
Console players will probably still buy into it, though I don't know why. BL2 was absolutely fucking dreadful to play on console. Default FOV, 30 FPS and even more of those ugly fucking black outlines. The difference between consoles and PC for Borderlands is night and day.
An Epic fail, 5 more years and barely no one will remember that joke store
Dominic Long
>Salty about UI which somehow work no problem >EGS meanwhile missing basic features for their store >Its okay because they still new Bitch, its 2019. You mean they still didnt do anything at all ?
Isaiah Rodriguez
I've been on steam 10 years the fuck are you saying. The current store UI is like 2-3 years old
Nathan Bennett
The sale was pretty much the dead giveaway that Epic have no fucking clue what they're doing, and that their only plan was to snipe anticipated game with Fortnite money.
Oliver Howard
they're preparing for the pc gaming show, which is going to be a complete shillshow
Ayden Davis
The funny thing is is that Epic is actively losing money with every game sold on their storefront during the sale, and even with that they managed to fuck it up and have people hate them for it, devs and customers alike. It's magical how incompetent they are
Xavier James
Check the date today
Jonathan Brooks
>over a YEAR to get a shopping cart the absolute state of Epin
Jace Hall
>Epic is the only way you're going to play upcoming AAA games like Borderlands 3 since Tim Swiney paid for my copy in advance, I'll pirate it as soon as it's available with zero remorse for Gearboxo or Randy "Bobandy" Bitchford
>B-b-b-but Steam was unfinished 15 years ago so that means it's totally fine for a store that is supposed to be competing with modern day Steam to be completely unfinished with no solid plan for doing so!
Luke Richardson
this is exactly their process for fortnite issues
Luke Lopez
dude what are you talking about, Kent State shooting is a pretty well known historical event (fucking Neil Young wrote one of the biggest protest songs about it)
Elijah Peterson
I really don't understand this shit, there is thousands of people who have built functional digital stores, how retarded can't epic programmers be?
Kevin Allen
>Gearbox will be doing some grand BL3 shilling during E3 >PC players will not be able to pre order BL3 for the entire show imagine being fucking epic
Landon Nguyen
>the biggest Epic anouncement wont be at the PC gaming show (sponsored by Epic)
>Every single Microsoft game from now on will be releasing on Steam
And with that Epic was killed
Mason Young
>puts your preorders on sale with no warning What kind of madman is Sweeney? Have I been underestimating how crazy he is this entire time
Lucas Lewis
Based and [REDACTED]
Ryder Ortiz
>Swiney shittalks windows for years before starting EGS >Steam gets MCC >suddenly Swiney compliments windows and calls people traitors for switching >MS still ignores him >Steam gets more Xbox games >they'll still use the profit to fund Linux gaming Gaben playing everyone by once again, doing nothing
Why do you think the OP is saying something good about the EGS?
Christopher Hughes
Post shilling stress disorder
Jaxon Scott
It'll be back the next time they buy an exclusive or one of their exclusives get released.
Gabriel Long
Apparently
Jaxson Martinez
Didn't know there was a sale. What fuck up happened in it?
This, sadly
Connor Bennett
If you bought any game that was $20 you got a $10 discount for your first purchase. This included early access games like Hades and pre-oders for Borderlands and they corresponded with NONE of the publishers before starting it. Randy Pitchford was shilling the sale on twitter until he deleted it all because his bosses pulled Borderlands 3 from EGS for the duration of it.
It was a total train wreck.
Josiah Morris
*$20 or more
Cooper Ramirez
>and they corresponded with NONE of the publishers before starting it. That's a level above a simple fuck up, holy fucking shit.
This is why you don't put arrogant idiots like Pitchford in charge of anything other than making a games.
>epic whips out a sale without discussing anything with publishers >publishers can't opt out of the sale, forcing those who don't want their game prices reduced to remove their games from the launcher entirely >Randy Pitchford was on twitter promoting the sale like a clueless idiot before Take Two pulled the plug >people had their accounts blocked for buying games too quickly due to anti-fraud measures (this wouldn't have occurred if the store had something as basic as a shopping cart) >publishers are caught upping the price of their games to compensate for the sale - illegal depending on where you live
Absolute disaster, humiliating.
Brayden Bennett
To give full context Epic was paying the difference to the devs/publishers (so they didn't lose any money from the sale), but the effectively were training customers to see their games as worth less before launch because it will have been 'on sale' during this sale
Jaxson Ramirez
I've also heard that they did hold a meeting to tell publishers, but the Epic guy explaining it to them did so fucking bad that none of them ahd any idea what the fuck was going on.
Ryan Bennett
>E3 builds hype for Borderlands 3 >But you literally can';t even pre-order it until after E3's over
How do you even fuck up this badly. This is actually amazing.
Austin Price
A shopping cart for an online store is something one guy can do in a few days at most. It is not a 6+ month thing, much less years.
Jackson Butler
borderlands 3 is going to absolutely bomb on PC which will be the icing on the shit sundae
Jackson Watson
In a just world it would. This is not a just world though.
Lucas Walker
It's not that easy when you can't test it because EGS locks down the dev's account every time he tries to put 2 games in the cart and buy them.
James Perry
>Shopping cart is still listed as 6+ months away is this real
One of the reasons why basic features are taking so long to arrive is because implementing games on the store, as well as updating them, is a manual process. There's no automation behind it. The few people working on the store at the moment are spending the majority of their time pushing out patches to actually work on store improvements, instead of just giving the developers the ability to do it themselves. This store definitely came out of the oven well before it was ready.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Epic aren't that willing to pull developers away from Fortnite to work on this money pit.
Ayden Harris
>If I had to guess, I'd say that Epic aren't that willing to pull developers away from Fortnite to work on this money pit.
Which is kind of funny given that this EGS is clearly their backup plan for if Fortnite starts losing popularity
Liam Edwards
>pushing out patches to actually work on store improvements *pushing out patches and are too busy to actually work on store improvements
Cooper Anderson
The reason basic features are taking so long is because they are used by a significant minority of users while the backend and Epic's online services need additional support. Things like cloud saves, shopping cart, etc. are not important for 99% of users, despite a few people on the Internet making it sound like the world is ending.
The people updating the store aren't the same people as the ones programming it.
Easton Morales
That's just what happens when you are so arrogant that you disregard all the backend features and pipelines Valve has built over the years. Just goes to show that when you do things right people start to think you do nothing at all.
steam is the standard if you can't keep up with the standard how do you even want to compete? EGS is a fucking joke
Luke Flores
>borderlands 3 is going to absolutely bomb on PC which will be the icing on the shit sundae You underestimate the Reddit meme consumer base. Borderlands 3 will not tank on any platform.
Daniel Cooper
This thread has been up for 5 hours and there really is a distinct lack of 'lmao pc masterrace' and 'lmao drones' posters ITT. Are those shitposters seriously shills from china that are walled off from the rest of the world's internet right now for the anniversary of 1989 Tiananmen Square?
Xavier Robinson
The funding from China didn't come through because they were spending their entire budget on suppressing social media posts about the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
Henry Smith
Half the point of cloud saves is bringing them with you somewhere else, tying them to hardware doesn't make any sense
Angel Adams
Yeah, E3 and their circlejerk gaming show.
Ryan Lopez
fucking Amazon in 1999 had a shopping cart and search feature Epic is literally behind the early 2000's dotcom boom
Jack Johnson
Don't worry it'll change on Monday when the PC Gamer conference happens
Luke Butler
They are most likely just hired on an event basis, like specific announcements and releases.
As others said, rest assured this weekend they will return.
Adrian Sullivan
Your dumbass probably disabled global cloudsaves in the client settings which wiped out every save you had, then tried to blame it on Steam. That is the only possible way that your story is believable. Cloud saves are not linked to anything other than your Steam account.
Brody Mitchell
I've been aware of cloud saves since they became a thing and it's always on. Like I said I was able to recover my dying light saves by turning it off and on again so it was already on. I just have no idea what else could have happened.
Caleb Sanders
yfw you realize that trump's imposed tariffs on china trade actually made it harder for tim sweeney to hire bug posters
You are supposed to buy a game, then take your time to savour it's gameplay and artistic value. It's a store for gentlemen, but I supposed that's way over your neanderthalian head
Fuck Google for changing Gmail's UI and making so you can't change it back. Fucking hate all these tech companies changing shit for no reason and removing choice.
Nolan Jones
>thinking lacking basic features for an online store is acceptable, especially when said store belongs to a company that makes a huge amount of profit I can tell you have shit tastes
doesn't make sense, there are a lot of working web store solutions they could have implemented then build above rather than trying to rewrite everything from scratch. Why would someone release a store without a shopping cart in 2019? That doesn't make any sense. Sweeney is like a bad telenovela villain
Dylan Adams
>Steam has had to do literally nothing to maintain dominance
>only a few notable games at best >aren't even true exclusives they are just timed >first notable one sold poorly on epic to the point they refused to release hard numbers for it and had to rely on a blanket statement that also included steam pre orders >publishers are starting to become cautious with epic due to its very name being bad pr >this was before the fuck up of a sale which likely caused publishers to be even more weary imagine thinking everybody will jump ship because epic offered money to a few publishers
Michael Diaz
Thank god for custom UI support. I've been using Metro for years and not once had a problem with it.
Zachary Gray
It's changed over a dozen times in that timeframe, and fags like you cried every single time.
Isaiah Williams
so we just have to deal with EGS exclusives because the chinks want to own everything?
Oliver Cruz
Pirate any Epic exclusive you care about and buy the future steam version if you like it.
Julian Martin
Nah, pretty sure even Tencent knows Epic is deadweight in terms of finances, especially when they have their own storefront in China. If Fortnite dies, and UE4 doesn't bring in good revenue, Epic can say goodbye.
Because people exposed its malware so they had to drop everything to fix it and develop new malware that is harder to detect. That is the priority.
Leo Torres
Their devs are finally dead from the 120 hour work weeks?
Luke Cook
You can also talk about Kent State without the government denying it. Kent State was basically something literal boomers can not let go. Also they burnt the ROTC building, so they aren't peaceful.
Dominic Ortiz
Don't they still make a lot of bank off Unreal Engine?
David Hill
But steam doesn't buy exclusives like epic doe? Every game on steam could be put on other platforms with no complaint from valve.
Adrian Thompson
>cloud saves >a shopping cart on a store which blocks you after few recent purchases >not important Please tell me you are just shitposting
Samuel Taylor
Spot the consolekek
Angel Thompson
>But steam doesn't buy exclusives CSGO was a franchise purchased by Valve, and made into a Steam exclusive. Same thing for Team Fortress, Portal, Left 4 Dead and Dota. None of those IPs were created by Valve, all of them were moneyhatted by Valve and turned into Steam exclusives.
I forgive you for not knowing that, as you were probably a toddler or not even born when Steam was launched.
Jordan Bell
??? the fuck are you talking about pingpong?
Ethan Perez
Don't engage with him, he's just looking for contrarian (you)s
Levi White
They gave talented devs the opportunity to go beyond modding.
Jaxson Miller
Shill being ignorant as always, those games were made by modders and fresh graduates hired by Valve. I wouldn't be surprised by your ignorance, seeing how incompetent your company operates.
Carter Bennett
Don't forget the best part, it comes packed with chinese spyware that even sifts through all your .dll files. Seriously try using that shit with a packet sniffer and it goes insane.
Joseph Rodriguez
In fact they were all mods of half-life.
Ayden Sullivan
Rockstar isn't retarded, they know they'd get more purchases on steam. If they're really money hungry they'll just make their own client.
Matthew Jones
gog will always be better because you actually own the games you buy. Unlikely as it is steam could just disappear along with your entire library/inventory.
Henry Ortiz
>"gives devs a bigger cut" - takes it from the customers pocket How is it taking it from the customers pocket when they are charging the same as Steam? They are giving the devs a bigger cut and it is coming from their own cut of the sale.
Austin Fisher
>How is it taking it from the customers pocket when they are charging the same as Steam?
Epic passes on processing fees to the customer because they only take 12%, where Steam can eat most of those because of their 30% take
Colton Jenkins
>American spyware good >Chinese spyware bad
Joshua Rodriguez
They already have their own client
Justin Jones
I love how people complain about steam's tax on devs. Not only would you be fucking apalled at how much it costs to put games on consoles, steam also allows free updates.
Adrian Allen
There's no proof steam is spyware (unless you include opt-in surveys) but nice try
Landon Stewart
Not all, some were Goldsource mods, based on a modified Quake engine. The rest were made on Source.
Jordan James
this but unironically fuck epic, fuck chinks, and nan king didn't happen
Colton Green
I want to say that EGS has become so blatantly incompetent that they don't even want to shill anymore. How do you ban people for buying multiple games during your first sale kek
Alexander Mitchell
Or the fact anyone who didn't want to be in the sale had their game removed from the store for the duration of the sale
Jaxon Price
user, its not the same as the Tiananmen Square massacre, because the government doesn't attempt to HIDE the event from public view in everyway imaginable. You don't get in trouble for talking about Kent State shootings in the US as a US citizen, you do get in trouble for talking about the tiananmen square massacre in China as a Chinese citizen.
Lucas Lopez
It's so fucking weird that they tried to excuse their shit too when Steam has a goddamn API for the kind of thing Epic claimed they needed to scrape data for
Kevin Flores
We need a list or a Steam curator group that keeps track of them. There's a collection on GGN that lists the ones that sold out but you can also just Google it. Any Steam pages should be /marked/.
I was taught Kent State in like late middle school, what do you mean?
Ian Gonzalez
>he thinks rdr2 will go epic There is no way that epic would put down the kind of cash required for this
Oliver Ortiz
I think competition is good but holy shit Save the World (Fortnite PvE) has been a mess for 2 fucking years. They have no shame with bugs and QA/QC
Caleb Morris
>Cope the surefire sign that someone hasn't a leg to stand on in an argument
Matthew Powell
sounds like you went to a bumfuck school lmao
Easton Foster
That was just valve as a company, before steam even existed
Cooper Russell
I'm 21 and I'd never heard of this outside of that Watchmen scene. I didn't know it was a real thing until I saw I thought it was just something Snyder added to reinforce how dystopian the setting is.
Jason Hall
They might, it would be exclusive for like a month at most but still.
I don't get why gog is there. Isn't it like it's own thing?
Robert Rivera
>That's sad that a big event like that was just completely wiped out of China's history like that. Historical erasure and revisionism is one of the basic principles of Maoism. It's hard to describe just how many works of art (paintings, frescos, statues) texts (books, poems, court documents) and architectural sites (manors, temples, etc) were dismantled and destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. Thousands of years of works from a dozen empires lost to time forever because of a couple decades of Maoist communism.
Hunter Price
I'm not a programmer or anything but is it really this hard to make a store that sells shit?
I don't trust Americans spying on me, but I REALLY don't trust Chinese spying on me.
Michael Ross
well the thing that is baffling is that a highschool student who is learning AP computer science can very likely code a shopping cart, yet epic store doesnt have it
Eli Miller
Anyone else kinda miss the EGS shill threads? It was fun shitposting in them and seeing the people eventually go off script if you applied enough mental gymnastics to them.
Joseph Nguyen
I assume that something as rudimentary as a shopping cart would be available somewhere to be implemented into your store.
Chase Stewart
Nope. Hard to do it well maybe, but as you can tell with Epic you can slap some shit together really quickly
Grayson Taylor
My current theory is that they have an atrocious method for rolling out updates to the store given games have to be added manually on their end as is, though it raises the question of which is worse: Not being able to program an updater or not being able to program a shopping cart.
Sounds like you went to an incredibly shitty school, or you weren't a very good student.
Noah Murphy
bump
Dylan Brooks
To clarify. That 10 dollars off IS NOT REGIONALLY SCALED unlike the already regionally scaled prices on EGS. Meaning that in some places people were scoring VTMB2 and BL3 preorders for pocket change almost.
Connor Taylor
>you could do the same thing with kent state in the US
>Event that is clearly open for anyone to read about and can be freely taught in schools with zero problems vs event that is removed and heavily censored from all channels of history for a country and it's citizens will suffer if the even try to mention it.
Just because you slept in class doesn't mean it never happened and the world forgot.
Matthew Jenkins
GOG did nothing wrong.
Well other than overcharging for old games once they learned nostalgia millennials and boomers will pay to toll. But that was expected.
Jacob Evans
>open an online store >shopping cart isn't one of the very first things you implement
I hold the belief that the EGS is a money laundering scheme by tencent to offload their personal assets into foreign dollars for the inevitable collapse of the CCP and China's economy. The main reason it's so poorly implemented alongside epic being absolutely malicious to the PC consumerbase is that epic never shed it's belief that the PC is a dead platform. So they're doing everything they can to try and show investors and other devs that PC is an unviable platform to develop through poor sales numbers and encouraging piracy.
Jaxson Nguyen
I personally believe that the chinese glorious leader originally started this mess because of steam defending that Taiwanese gane that made fun of him from chink reviewbombers and he wanted to remove steam but the stupid fuck forgot that money cant buy the world outside china
Gabriel Hill
I just figured it was a project that was rushed out by the higher ups thinking that they would be making money like Steam in less than half the time they took but everyone on staff don't know what they're doing or severely underbudget
Sebastian Parker
They're all too busy constantly updsting Fortnite.
Fortnite literally has a stranglehold on Epic right now because they genuinely can't slack off for a moment lest that golden goose flies off. Much to the detriment of all their other shit.
Jonathan Butler
The fuck is wrong with it?
Benjamin Fisher
My only problem with it personally is that the workshop breaks like every other day. Half the time the search bar doesn't even work.
Henry Williams
actually it is tencents personal jab at valve for partnering with perfect world for its steam china client. tencent wanted to be the one to bring steam to china
Dylan Howard
Can Microsoft just kill us all with Games for Windows 2 already.
I still don't understand the Epic discount promotion. If I buy a game with the extra 10$ discount, does the developer get less shekels? Or are those 10$ taken from Epic?
Usually when companies do these kind of promotions they take the loss themselves. For example when airbnb does their 25$ off a 50$+ order promo the host still gets paid full price. But if that were the case why did some devs take their game off the platform suring this sale??
Leo Miller
Epic paid the whole thing to the developers so they still get full price for each sale, but supposedly it looks bad if your game goes on sale too soon so that's why some withdrew.
Charles Hernandez
epic pays the difference. the reason why several games got taken off because it fucks with MAP (minimum advertised price). it fucked particularly hard with preorders, and since there are so many resellers for games such as borderlands 3 and VTMB the publishers are at risk getting sued. one of them would be walmart, and you dont really want to fuck with them.

Oh ok, thanks.

replace GOG with the Bethesda Launcher and its accurate

Why is modern China so shit? I want China to be full of floating kung fu people like in the movies, not a dystopian sheep farm

you don't understand what a monopoly refers to
steam held like 90% of the non-f2p pc playerbase by the balls. The point is that they are not motivated to improve without competition, and yeah lowering their taxes on the devs/publishers would also part of that, even if most gamers seem to think of this as something that doesn't affect them.

> reddit user, zoomers here are loving the game. Hell, people here is even starting to praise the prequel

Okay so why should Steam improve and not their competition then?
