A robot playing video games would only be as good as they were programmed to be at video games. Even if it was a learning AI, it would need to be taught many many things to put two and two together about the concepts of a video game and it's purpose/function. It would not have a competitive spirit and thus would like the drive and capability to improve by itself. Since it was also a outsider entity from the game itself good look teaching it the controls too.

The robot has to interpret the audio and visual feedback instead of being fed the pure game state and I assume has to use the controller.
If the robot uses machine learning which it probably does it could conceivably become better eventually, assuming the game AI is just state machines like 99% of game AI.
