I'm scared that the crucible will act like a chainsaw and that wall climbing will slow down the pace of the game.

I just want it to be more Doom 2016 but this time with actual mod support and a proper level editor, as these are the things that keep me playing OG Doom to this day.

the new footage showed there'll still be upgrades, but apparently they'll be streamlining the whole thing so you don't have to waste time browsing menus and doing abstract challenges, and instead just find upgrade orbs in the levels which give you new abilities on the spot
the one in the footage would supercharge your next melee strike after doing a Glory Kill, which should give you a reason to Glory Kill more
To use the sword thing all the time.

Never gonna happen. nu-id tech can't be modded anymore and never will be again. They'll have to make the game in someone else's engine for you to ever get user made mods and maps back.

It literally never was, the original had auto-aiming for crying out loud and wouldn't even let you look up and down
And you can't reasonably expect people to be able to aim with precision when most of the players at the time would be using keyboard aiming
I hope this game pisses off as many Boomers as possible

I'm a boomer and i absolutely love everything i've seen so far.
It's far more likely that people hating Eternal thus far are a bunch of brainless 16 years old contrarians.
Hell, nobody would say that Doom is a test of precision with its slow-ass enemies, let alone Quake with its oversized enemy hitboxes which they intentionally reduced in Arcane Dimensions
In nuDoom some enemies will try to make an effort to dodge your attacks and will vertically spread themselves out more forcing you to distribute your attention more than if all enemies were standing behind eachother like Serious Sam. Moreover headshotting for extra damage is a thing in nuDoom.
Shitting on nuDoom for not being about precision even though it requires more precision than the original ever did is just silly

Confirmed for not playing some fucking Doom.
Doom had about 5 degrees of auto aim, that is if your mark was less than a 5 degree angle off from a target it would automatically aim to that target. Try this with the plasma rifle of a rocket launcher, it's pretty noticable.
Regardless, aim is the most overrated fps skill. If you turn off autoaim, you gain nearly zero ease or difficulty.
Doom fun and challenge come from the simplicty + versatility in its weaponry, bestiary, and level editor.
I'm concerned because they acted like clowns at the QuakeCon presentation and it felt like they didn't get what was good about 2016.

im booting doom to kill some demons, straight out of the box
