He's 100% right.
A good game takes 5 years to make, minumum.
You should NEVER listen to anyone bitching that a game is taking too much time to make.
Take 5 years, take 8, fuck it make a game for 10 years, it's fine.
Take all the time you need, but make sure that the game is using an artstyle that will age well, and most importantly

Patches exist.

well that quote dated horribly considering all these utterly shit games that got elevated with dlc. ie bloodborne

good thing people don't need to eat to make video games.

You really can't. I have yet to see a single early access game come out and reach a point where it's worth playing. I really hate the expectation that if you get a new game in the first month or so of it's release that it's perfectly reasonable for it to be a dumpster fire and expecting anything else is simply entitled.

Sometimes a game gets delayed because every 6 months the dev team scraps the whole thing and starts from basically scratch
And they do this for over 5 years and then try to use how long it took as evidence that it's a passion project half a decade in the making, when in reality it's a development nightmare that should never come out at all

Ff15...

>patches

Get
A
LOad
Of
This
Shill
Faggot

>i-its okay developer sama, you didn't finish the game I already paid for but just give me what you have and you take your time working on the sequel next year..!

Duke Nukem Forever

Splatoon is the poster child for this being out of date. They release a barren game and patch shit in for years.

outdated as fuck games come out super shit now and may eventually turn good after 5 gb downloads of patches or all the dlc coming out turning it into an actual full game

only means they weren't delayed long enough

>fuck it make a game for 10 years, it's fine.
Yeah because that worked so well for FFXV

you can literally give nintendo fans cardboard and they eat it up its actually fucking funny and sad when you think about it

Attached: 1541707088828.png (1349x775, 1.71M)

it's impossible to prove him wrong, that's why duke nukem forever is the greatest masterpiece

>brings consolewars into this

Slay the spire would like to have a word with you.

iam just saying when it comes to consoles nintendo fans are the biggest shit eaters

Why does every Nintendo game feel rushed then

delay it longer

Give me a good Paper Mario you gook fuck

XV falls under "mismanaged game" if anything

>buying shit incomplete games

>Duke Nukem Forever
>FFXV

On the opposite end.
R6 siege came out bad but after many patches, now it's one of the most enjoyable fps in the market.

No Man's Sky.
Okay now, forever known as the fuck up it was.

factorio is the best example i can think of doing early access right

I would complain more but they applied Animal crossing tier updates
Every month you get new shit that changes the meta

Red Dead 2 took 8

>A delayed game is eventually good
pic related with its forced crappy motion control would like to have a word with you

Just delaying a game dosen't make it good, however it gives it the chance to be.

2 of the best Nintendo games were rushed games.

duke nukem forever or ff15 dont really count since the games we got were completetly different from what they were actually supposed to be
during duke nukems development they made like 7 different games that all had to be scrapped some way or another you cant even call it the same game anymore as the one that was announced like at all
same with ff15

hey capcom go make some games

Wasn't delayed enough

Rimworld, factorio and prison architect.

based

nibba look iam just literally and figuratively saying that if all nintendo fans were to vanish from this planet right now we would actually have it better one way or the other
if you dont actually believe this is true your iq must be under 80
literally and figurativley speaking of course

also made in abyss is the best anime

There are more rushed bad games than delayed bad games.
Wasn't anthem rushed?

despite what kh 1&2 fags say its still better than any game that came after 2 and before 3
id rather replay 1-3 than any of those awful fucking side games

final mix came out like 1 or 2 years after the original kh 2 came out

when it comes to base game 2 and base game 3 they are pretty same on content
and now with critical mode its not super ez anymore

also implying any kh game was ever hard

But Splatoon was playable at launch, and it was fun.

Slay the Spire

A game can be patched and expanded.
Europa Universalis 4 and Civilization 5 were released as subpar and were eventually good.
The games as a service model is entirely based on continually releasing content for the game and has successfully delivered games that have been popular for many years like league of legends and team fortress.
That's not to say the standalone experience must die, but our understanding of how a game can be released should expand beyond slow and steady and rushed and crashed.

No man's sky, next question?

It would be more accurate to say a delayed game can eventually become good. A rushed game is more likely to have flaws.
Some delayed games turned out terrible no matter how delayed they were like Duke Nukem forever, but Smash bros Melee was the game of the decade and that was rushed out the door. It's about perspective and not releasing absolute dogshit just because the deadline is approaching.

The last team that had their hands on DNF had their goal be "just get it out", that sounds like a rush job to me.

First impressions are important. If your product doesn't start off strong, it won't have longevity. Don't listen to Todd Howard.

vg247.com/2019/06/03/todd-howard-fallout-76-criticisms-well-deserved/

Kingdoms hearts 3 13 years
Ff15 9 years
Dark souls
Pokemon
Metroid prime
MgsV

All took a long time to make and ended up shit.

He's wrong.

FACT.

You can't prove me wrong.

>if all nintendo fans were to vanish from this planet right now we would actually have it better one way or the other
no we wouldn't
we really wouldn't
as bad as nintendo fans can be, Sony fans are infintely worse you cannot deny this

Passion is a finite resource and if you drag out development of a game so long that people run out it won't matter how long it takes, the lack of passion will always show.

See; Duke Nukem Forever

KH3, FFXV, FFXIII, FFXII, FFVIIR.

>Kingdoms hearts 3 13 years
>Ff15 9 years

>All took a long time to make
Those two werent even in development for most of the time you've mentioned nor given a release date.

that's unbelievably stupid and ignorant

Anyone who has allegiance to their specific brand of plastic box is a complete and total fucking retard or a child.

i dont see sony fans buying up literally every sony product atleast nintendo fans have a habbit to do just that
i just cant take anyone seriously who considers buying 80 dollar cardboard iam sorry maybe iam just too old for this

>Duke Nukem Forever

Says the company that owns Pokémon

Duke Nukem Forever

There are a million games already released that you can play while waiting for a delayed game to come out. Whats the rush?

>Dark souls
>Metroid Prime
Explain

>Everyone getting salty at this post
But he's right. Just because the game might still get a bad rap for having a shitty launch doesn't mean the game isn't good

Pokemon games have been delayed quite a few times.

Duke Nukem Forever
Majora's Mask

Completely invalid in today's hyper online environment, where publisers can and often do push unfinished games, and they can easily patch them later.
So the idea that "a rushed game is forever bad" has not aged well, and is simply not true today.

Sony fans have no products to buy
They would if they could
But 3 games isn't that much

>saying dark souls and metroid prime were bad
Ah a man of shit taste.
I mean shit, I get Prime 1 aint the best, but its still pretty good. Prime 2 is kino tho

Fallout New Vegas, KOTOR2

Mighty No 9.
Duke Nukem: Forever

You're right. He fixed paper mario.

Duke Nukem Forever. End result was like a 6/10 but people like to pretend it's a 3/10 because it kept getting delayed.

>Dark souls
5/10 bait
got me to respond

You now remember Duke Nukem Forever

Patches

>Diablo 3

>KH3
>13 years
are you a dumbdumb? because you sound like a dumbdumb.

that said
it's interesting to speculate about whether Dark Souls would have been as well-received if it had been delayed 5 years. It came out at a time when people really wanted a game like that.

It's a 3/10 without the 4 weapon limit patch, and 5/10 with it.

>it's interesting to speculate about whether Dark Souls would have been as well-received if it had been delayed 5 years.

Almost assuredly no. From's exploits since then have proven they just don't know how to do a 3rd act of a game regardless of how much time they have. Also Dark Souls was very much right place right time thing.

Yea Forums is dumb and clearly hasn't been to school.

He's saying that a "rushed" game is bad. It's because he applied the adjective "rushed" that implies negative feelings. Henceforth, "rushed" game = bad game, you can't deny that.
On the other hand, the adjective "delayed" doesn't imply any positive and negative feelings. The use of this adjective and the adverb "eventually" imply that there isn't any correlation between "delayed" and good. As such, Miyamoto is also saying that a delayed game might be bad.
The only counter-example from his statement may come from the adverb "forever". That means that as soon as the game comes out, it's bad, and will remain bad.
If one would want to contradict Miyamoto, one would have to find a rushed game that was bad when it came but that became good as the time went on, with the use of patches for example.

Dark Souls coming out when it did is WHY people wanted games like it a few years later.

>DMC 5
>Resident Evil 2
?? Capcom is doing fine.

New Vegas is my favorite game. That game was rushed like a mother fucker. Argument invalid.

Get lost, bug face.

Randy, not the delays

Attached: Benny.jpg (474x287, 20K)

To add to this, watch dogs was delayed several times and sucked rodent ass

>is eventually good
He probably meant "might be eventually good"
If not, he's wrong.

The Pokemon Company owns Pokemon

>release shit game
>everyone says its shit
>game sales are low due to bad rep
>game gets a patch that makes it good
>everyone has already moved on
>sales are still shit, making a sequel unlikely
>franchise dies right there

Bannerlord better be pretty fucking good then

A rushed game can be fixed, a delayed game may never exist at all.

wtf I love Star Citizen now

Soundsgoodism.

Sounds good, doesn't it? In reality it means jack shit. Like crypto speak, or diversity.

>Duke Nukem Forever

A delayed game can eventually be good or bad, the same as a rushed game, depending on an infinite number of variables. Shut the fuck up, old man.

>lots of obviously rushed content, unfinished stuff, cut corners
>still a better game than any nintendoshit ever made
Well that was easy.

Attached: 91bJH+Eb3lL._SY445_.jpg (315x445, 32K)

a game being rushed doesn't mean that it has to be bad.
They're not intrinsically tied to eachother.

Delay too much and you will eventually run our of money and go bankrupt, then you have no game and no company.

>A delayed game is eventually bad, but a rushed game is bad for longer.

Duke Nukem Forever

KOTOR2

Tell me what sells

He's objectively correct, but...
Low IQ people, especially Yea Forums, will default to the LONG TIME = DISAPPOINTING npc meme opinion, in part due to creating ridiculous and impossible expectations in their head of what exactly the game should be. More it delays the more these fester in people.

He's right. It's why indie games are better than AAA games, nowadays.
AAA games are pushed by corporate incentive over quality of the actual game. Everything needs a concrete release date to please shareholders, and it has to be out on time, sooner rather than later. So everything is rushed.
