Because liking a cartoony dogshit looking game is for patricians only and I like to prop up the hidden gem underdogs to seem intellectually superior, that's why I love FFV too.
FFIX = Soul
FFVII and VIII = Soulless
it would be fine if it wasn't so slow
I'll need to check PlayOnline for the full reply.
Valuing things differently than the way you do. Imagine the horror.
How the hell does this game feel older than its two predecessors?
I played the pal version back in the day.
you know NOTHING of "slow"
can you at least try and make it a little baity? this is the most low effort bait ive ever seen on this site. at least put the ass gif, you'll get more (you's)

Final Fantasy IX.
I didn't like it, just found it kinda boring with only a few characters i enjoyed but ain't gonna bash anyone for liking it; taste in FF games is minefield of bruised egos.
Turn the speed up in the menu you idiot
Would be a better game if the battles didnt take so long. The trance system is poor, too. It has a tendency to pop right before a fights over. Story is pretty bland. FF15 is actually much better than this in every regard.
6>7>15>10>12>9>4>8>tactics advance>war of the lions>ff2>crystal chronicles>1>5>3
Thats the objective truth of the series. I used to write for IGN 10 years ago. I would know! Tell me what you think in the comments section here.
Game speed won't change disk read times, user. Not that people emulating would know that.
step up lad you didn't even give us 7 reasons why that's a good thing
I loved the game but it had 2 flaws that made is fucking awful to play
>extremely high random encounter rate, which might not have been so bad except that
>20 second "loading" cutscene while the camera pans around the battle field before you actually get to fight
I honestly think my play time was inflated by a good 10 hours because of this alone.
you forgot
>enemy screeches
before atb bar starts filling
Fuck you, user. Fuck you. But also thank you.
This is my biggest fear about playing. It's one of the few FFs I haven't played, but I was annoyed by FF8 enough and this seems worse. FF7 was so god damn quick, you were selecting attacks in no time.
It was babbies first FF most likely. The average age of Yea Forums probably played 9 before 7 and 8, whilst probably 6 year old.
The game is literally unplayable without fast-forward/emulation now.
It was that one FF that I only got to see a friend play. And he was doing the part where you go back to the rainy playing Freya is come. The game looked so cool. Too bad that that was the coolest part of the game. The game is hot trash and only kids would like it
Press S to spit on its grave.
It's slow even when maxed out, user. I just beat it recently and the game became much, much funner after I got auto-haste on my main party. The story is one of the best in the series, but the slowness of the battles makes combat a slog sometimes.
B...Bozon? The 7.9 legend?
fuck you too buddy
It came out in 2000, only 3 years after 7.
Because now that FF6 is the designated 'contrarian' option, people opt for another hipster contrarian option instead to seem more educated about the series and more selective than those who vouch for FF6 as the best.
it was my first one. i never really was a jrpg guy since europe always got fucked in the ass with the jrpg releases. ff7 was the first ff to get pal release so of course it wasnt as big of a deal here as it was in the states and japan. by 9 the series had been properly established and I got 9+8 bundle like few months after 9s release and got 7 later that year. played them in 9 8 7 order for a reason I cant remember.
This user gets it
usually people who had it as their first yeah
mind you, it makes it easier to look past its flaws when compared to the others.
because it makes me realize we'll never get another FF like 9
its the only good one
>FF15 is actually much better than this in every regard.
What's your rating? 8.2372/10?
ff IX is objectivrly the best FF game ever created because of the setting, music, atmosphere, story and characters. The combat is meh and sloe but it was made when people enjoyed the time consuming thing instead of todays adhd zoomer shit. there were "no internet" back in 2000 not at this scale so... thats why pokemon also used to be fun to just grind 1 pokemon to lvl 99.
Recently started playing this, just got to the world map and feel like I'd rather be playing VII or VIII (and I don't even feel like playing those), is it worth continuing the game (or is there maybe a point I should get to before deciding to drop it or not)?
I’ll be honest. I praise this game all the time yet I’ve only done one play through and that was over 15 years ago. It made me emotional as a kid and I wasn’t bothered by how slow it was until I tried to play it again on a ps3.
I agree there is something about this game's aesthetics that makes me want to throw up.
It has charming and quirky characters, and Uematsu's best OST. It's also a great palate cleanser after the more modern FF VII and VIII, more of a throwback to the IV-V-VI era.

To date I think it has the best ending out of all FF's.
>easily the worst playstation FF
False, and even if true it would still be among the best in the series, since the PS-era FFs are by far the best.
ff8 fags getting defensive again?
SNES era would like to have a word.
