That's not true though. Yes, I will be one of the first to say that Apple's current MacBook Pros have massive flaws (breaking keyboard, breaking display cable, stupid "touch bar"), but Apple still make pretty well-made computers with pretty powerful components, great industrial design, and the best desktop UNIX OS (and arguably more enjoyable to use than Windows too).

I might go Windows next time though because the recent MBPs piss me off. But still, to say Apple only succeed because of their "reputation" is unadulterated idiocy.

Xeon used to be server class cpu but they started selling them as regular cpus quite a while ago. They're usually cheaper than the Intel i series counter parts while having the exact same performance, but they usually lack customization options like overclocking for example

Apple used a bar-style notch on the iPhone X and every Android manufacturer proceeded to copy it (yes I know the Essential Phone had a camera notch first, but it was a very different kind not notch, and nobody copied that style, they copied Apple's style instead).
Apple's smartphone cameras are usually the best in the industry - Google's Pixel cameras are now better in some areas, like low-light performance with that crazy AI shit, and are considered by some to be better all around, but Apple's are still right at the top, and usually considered to be better than everyone else apart from the Pixels.

Apple aren't perfect, but to say they contribute nothing is of course moronic.

Developers use Macs because it's UNIX but, unlike Linux, runs commercial software like Photoshop and whatever without pissing about with Wine. And MacOS is way more polished than desktop Linux will ever be.
