>you can't even redownload your purchased telltale games after june 25th

Why is Microsoft and Sony allowing this?

Encouraging adventures on the high seas, of course. And what better way than by example?

>if you encourage DRM and streaming, your games will be lost forever.

YAR HAR

>mfw people telling me digital is better than physical when this shit happens

Attached: 1476036545280.jpg (305x314, 32K)

The ideal is having both options, as long as the physical doesn't has account-based DRM.

The next video games market crash can't come too soon.

Wait what the fuck, really?

From which platforms?

Even on steam? because i have some undownlaoded Sam and Max episodes.

>Google and Sony/MS pushing for cloud gaming
>when Google just had a big problem yesterday with their online infrastructure.
>And this shit
Online gaming was a mistake

all platforms

im out of the loop, how did they end up going under anyhow?

Everyone realized instead of buying telltale games they could get the same experience watching playthroughs on youtube for free.

>People actually believe this
Just like with RPGs, I don't want to see other players' shitty dialogue choices.

They're safe on your GOG accounts.

>For everyone who purchased any of said titles prior to delisting, the games will remain in their GOG library.
gog.com/forum/general/all_remaining_telltale_games_being_delisted_from_the_catalogue/page1

Diversity hires, never innovated, too expensive licenses, saturated the market, never had an original IP.

>have to keep the games installed on steam forever
the fuck

Remember that Minniefag guy, did he ever get his precious Minnie lewds?

And this is just games.
Imagine what happens when 100s of years from now all currently existing digital Information is lost.
An important part of human history will all go bye because we have too much faith in the convenience of digital media.

What can they do? It's not like Steam is going to continue hosting files on their servers that they can't legally sell.

That's shocking.

tangentially related, but copyright extensions were a mistake.

Even Blade Runner 2049 has shown the dangers of going digital only.

Attached: digital_resource_lifespan[1].png (697x497, 45K)

you can still download the original dark souls on steam if you already own it, even though they dont sell it anymore. i dont know why they cant do that with these games, not that i care in particular.

Can I get source on this bs?

I can still re-download Prey and Jericho and those games have been delis Ted for like a decade now

> were a mistake.
No, they were a success.
Not for the public, of course. Just for corporate entities, who were the ones to push for them.

Just archive them and store somewhere else.

>“On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June."

This is going to eventually happen with other games like Batman, Tales from the Borderlands, Back to the Future, Walking Dead. They are literally removing the game package files from all platforms.

Retard
It affects all platforms, not just consoles

Microsoft published them on Xbox, so it's probably safe there. Not sure on Steam. Would recommend installing every game/backing up to external drives as a common practice now.

Atleast you can pirate it now without feeling bad. Not a single moral fag out there will defend this shit.

The precedent might be there for console fags but delisted games on Steam/GoG have always been re-downloadable outside of like 3 pieces of online only shovelware

Looks like pirate chads win again

So this only applies to minecraft?

>...as long as...
That's not been the case for almost 20 years.
My first contact with Steam was a game sold on DVD with forced Steam install.
Note: That was back in the day when everyone having a high bandwidth Internet connection wasn't normal, yet.

The only good thing about digital distribution is that it usually ends up cheaper than buying physically. That's the single reason.

What about The Witcher 2 and 3 and those IndieBox releases?

>What about The Witcher 2 and 3 and those IndieBox releases?
Also, Rayman Origins is DRM-free on retail too.

GOG actually caring about the consumer, yet again.

Sam and Max is shit and is reddit tier.

Odds are Steam is going to do the same. Only consoles can get away with literally stealing your games

So is it safe to say that all the telltale games is abandonware at this point?

Physical versions of Telltale games come with just the first episode

Yes.

That design reminds me about Guardian.

>Ubisoft
>DRM-free

Stop lying.

That's what I've been doing, although it's been more out of an unwillingness to wait for things to download.

All the Rayman games are on GOG.
gog.com/game/rayman_origins

Seriously.
dsogaming.com/news/rayman-origins-pc-retail-version-will-be-drm-free-digital-version-will-use-tages-solidshield/

Didn’t telltale publish a few 3rd party games? What happens to those? They’re still getting updated

Attached: D59F1AAA-4A2F-4EAD-90A6-50179C453562.jpg (1024x576, 106K)

Legends still is DRM'd everywhere.

And that runs without Uplay?

Thanks.
Guess I'll play the first Ubi game in years.

Sucks because those discs are essentially just demo discs now. It won't be able to pull the remaining episodes from the network.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I checked my account on GOG and found that I'd already bought all the TT Sam and Max games, since those were the only game from TT that I was interested in. GOG DRM-free wins again.

Make a back up, just for the sake of it.

Yes

Just pirate them on YouTube

I was surprised they didn't do more with Poker Night. DLC characters, progression systems, etc. I guess TWD formula turned out too big a milking cow to ignore.

Doesn't Steam allow you to download shit that gets pulled from the store provided you bought it prior? That's why I still have NWN2 downloadable.

The only recorded instance of them actually removing games is Order of War: Challenge.

DRM-Free Digital > Physical Copies > Your dignity and sense of worth > DRM Copies > Bit-coin Mine-I mean piracy.

So after June 25th I can buy the Walking Dead episodes on GOG?

It was going to be DRM'd shit anyways, so it's not like the disc would have some value.

Attached: fallout-76-cardboard-disc-pc-power-armor-special-edition_feature[1].jpg (1920x1080, 211K)

>Why is Microsoft and Sony allowing this
Do you think Some and MS let you download episodes from someone else's server? I'm pretty sure all of Telltale games are fully downloadable from their respective stores

>bit-coin mine-I mean piracy
Outed as a brainlet in a single post.

No, not at all.

Basically, they expanded way too fast and never changed much. Since The Walking Dead they've basically been making the same game, with different franchise and finding ways to cut out more and more gameplay. Play TWD1 and Batman: TEW and you'll see the shocking increase in QTEs as well as utter removal of anything resembling a puzzle. They also took fucking forever to upgrade their engine.

Attached: puzzle_box_1920x1080.0.jpg (1200x800, 177K)

So I can still play them but I have to buy them before the 25th?

>"Whatever, I'll just pirate all day"
>Google search: "Why do my fans turn on really high after midnight?"

correct

I highly doubt it will be undownloadable from steam

Also incorrect.
>Sadly, we need to inform you that, due to company’s closure, all the remaining Telltale titles will be delisted from our catalog on Monday, May 27, 10am UTC.

Stop pressing enter after the quote you faggots

Telltale "games" are being slowly erased from existence. I see no problem here.

The Poker Night games were pretty good friend simulators

Life finds a way, though. They sure as fuck corrupted an entire generation imagining what "adventure games" must be like.

>getting butt blasted over formatting

Have sex

RACIST!

LEE WAS THE FIRST BLACK VIDYA CHARACTER I COULD RELATE TO.

MARTHA, ARE YOU READING THIS?THERE'S A FREAKING NAZI ON Yea Forums AGAIN! THIS NEVA ENDS!

Amanita Design still exists.

An unfunny tripfag. What's new

So, I can only play these games if I buy the physical copies?

No.

there are developers who fight the decline. adventure games were written off as dead far too early in the first place.

Attached: primordia-wadjet games.png (320x320, 148K)

what a tech illiterate retard

Have you bought the games on GOG pre May 27, 2019? If yes, they will stay in your account.

7 days is not published by tell tale on PC. Only the PC version gets updates

>trip

Attached: 1537990909495.jpg (206x228, 25K)

it's not coming.

It looks like that's the case.

>Can still download them on steam if you already purchased them.
>Pirated versions are still readily available

Attached: 1547151899343.jpg (688x692, 70K)

>They sure as fuck corrupted an entire generation imagining what "adventure games" must be like.

I think it's more because it feed into the whole "non-games" bullshit. What does your average player today do when they get stuck on a puzzle? Just Google the solution. I imagine journos are even worse so you get your "narrative experience walking simulators" where they just have to press forward and occasionally interact with something. Which is sad because P&C adventures of yore actually had some of the sharpest and wittiest writing around. Real problem being you had to fight the interface as industry was figuring it out still.

Important shit is on paper everything else can go to hell

baste GOG

>Can still download them on steam if you already purchased them.
Not after 24th.

It only will apply to Minecraft, which was never on GOG to begin with.

>implying the dialog choices actually matter in telltale games

Attached: 1545932121024.jpg (455x476, 25K)

>, which was never on GOG to begin with.
Ignore this.

But user, they will REMEMBER this!

Continued licensing expensive IPs despite dwindling sales. They never managed to capture the success TWD had but I would say that game was just the right place at the right time. They also kept expanding with new hires even though their games continued to drop in sales and people just got sick of the formula. They were using the same old engine with no innovation, their games were all the same with a different coat of paint and people got tired of it.

is this not a thing anymore

Attached: 1558536661109.png (916x370, 83K)

>MARTHA
WHY'D YOU SAY THAT NAME?

Attached: batman rage.gif (300x225, 206K)

The Walking Dead was really lightning in a bottle for Telltalte. Nothing after got those sales again. By the end it was obvious they were losing money on licensing.

There has been one case where a game was totally pulled from store. Order of War, I think? Comes down to in what kind of limbo ownership rights are in.

>sell physical copies of a game
>boxes just have a piece of cardboard telling you to redeem an online code
What the fuck was Bethesda thinking?

Well, I think that what they did with Fallout Anthology was worse. They did press DVDs and CDs, but were tied to Steam, making them literally worthless. The first four games weren't Steamworks only at launch and New Vegas later got a Steam free release on GOG to boot.

problem was they also immediately opted for quantity over quality and spread themselves thin over multiple projects. they hired more people, but you only so many creative leads who made the first game a success. others are replaceable.

just tell them to fck off, you paid for it, just pirate that sht

still there
store.steampowered.com/app/34600/Order_of_War/

god i love that game

i got this game called shellshock 2 blood trails or something and its been off steam for a while but its still in my library and i can download it

Not really. Steam subscriber agreement gives them the right to cancel your access to a particular game. If the publisher tells them they can't let people download the game anymore, then Steam will have to comply.

The real question is why would you buy a Telltale """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""game"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" in the first place?
