2 and anyone who disagrees is a nostalgifag.

Dead Space solely because Isaac does not speak.

I think the novelty of the first game's atmosphere and silent exploration stuck with me more.

But 2 was more fun to actually play.

2 is too easy and Isaac is too responsive. He moves like a featherweight boxer and can out strafe almost any attack

You feel much more clunky and vulnerable in the first game

Dead Space 1 is better. The atmosphere and suspense where great. Dead Space 2 is more like what Aliens was versus Alien.

Is there anything good about this game? I just really want more and am tempted to play it to form my own opinion. The best I've heard from here is that gun making is overpowered but fun and the first half is good. What precisely is bad about it? I've heard limb removal is no longer essential.

Dead Space 1 had the superior, oppressive, claustrophobic, industrial space ship, loud metallic noises atmosphere.

Dead Space 2 was just spooky Mass Effect, everything looked plastic and neon lights littering every part of the level design.

both are shitty ea games puffed up by marketing

While I agree Dead Space 1 is more about jumpscares than actual horror, it does feel better made with the intent of being a horror game. Dead Space 2 is more an action game.

They're both great games, but it really depends on what you're looking for in a game at the time.

Dead Space 3 meanwhile is garbage, way too many reused assets, a terrible weapon system and a flimsy storyline that's just not very good.

i got it for free but have never played it

It's bland, repetitive and lacks the intrigue of the first two games. The weapon crafting system fails to entice and it's dependent on co-op mode to get the entirity of the story. It also fails to resolve anything from the first two games, so any kind of "payoff" you might have felt building after playing those goes absolutely nowhere.

im more of an action horror guy so dead space 2 is what I think is better

Dead Space 2 return to Ishimura part is a million times scarier than anything DS1 has to offer.

Gee, I wonder why that is?

>oppressive, claustrophobic, industrial space ship, loud metallic noises atmosphere.

what do you guys think of DS2's fake out ending? All my friends disliked it, but i loved it. Better than DS1's jumpscare ending.

I liked the idea of the markers and Necromorphs being somewhat opposing forces like 1 slightly implied. Seemed more mysterious and strange.

Gave me a good laugh.

I did appreciate ending it on a better note than DS1, but I think that's more an opinion thing.

One thing I don't get, EarthGov created Unitology in the first place for... reasons? But by DS3 it seems like that was a bad idea because EarthGov, what sounds like the political system governing the entire solar system, has been overthrown by religious lunatics? I don't see how that could have happened, regardless of wether or not EarthGov made the fake religion in the first place.

Both games are amazing but I slightly prefer 2 because the pacing is way too amazing.
It's balanced by the fact that enemies are more aggresive
Genuinely no. Things that it done were done better in the previous games. It could my most hated game of all time.

God I sweat bullets during the stalker encounters.

I just wish EA didn't destroy the franchise, I really loved them all, even the third one which was butchered I warmed up to eventually. I also enjoyed the mobile one too until it too was axed and removed from every marketplace as well. I will forever miss this series.

Fuck EA

Perfect timing because I literally just completed a run-through of DS1/2 yesterday.

DS1 is indisputably the better game

DS2 has clearly superior gameplay and gun variety (that javelin gun is seriously fun). However, it just feels like the game haphazardly throwing all of the parts of DS1, plus tip, at you without an understanding of why it worked (notable exception going to that one freezer section).

DS1's carefully designed levels, sound design, enemy placement, and pacing end creating a much greater cohesive whole.

Dead Space is better imo. The atmosphere and tone make it more memorable. The second game is still a great game, though.

Both games are easy even on their hardest difficulty but I remember the hard parts in 2 were way more challenging than 1.

>They're both great games, but it really depends on what you're looking for in a game at the time.
Given that the horror is universally shit no it really doesn't. they suck as horror games so if you're not an idiot you'll look for that elsewhere.

>Lots of fun weapons
>Co-op shenanigans where you both hallucinate different things at different times
>Neat ice planet
>Spooky ancient alien city
>True ending makes the plot of Extraction and Severed actually important
It had poor pacing and the love triangle was fucking retarded. Still well worth a playthrough

The one that's Japanese and thus actually belongs on Yea Forums.

Which is better, Alien or Aliens?

You will be incredibly confused by the plot flip flopping from either being a single player one or being a coop one
And gameplay wise you pretty gimping yourself. You can only bring 2 weapons, at least on coop with your partner it adds more firepower
