Nah, X2 is better than X8 but X8's definitely the best game post-X4. If it had less stupid shit like 2 vehicle levels, an autoscroller stage that goes on for what feels like days, and literal spiked boxes moving around for a miniboss then I'd say it's better than X3 as it's quite good when it's on its game.

I replayed X4 like 20 times as a kid and I swear to fucking God, 15 of those were strictly to see that dumb as fuck Zero vs. Sigma cutscene again and again. It's like it was the second hypest thing kid me ever saw behind DBZ for some reason.

There needs to be a Mega Man X reboot that has a bad ending where Zero reverts back to his original state and you fight him as a final boss back in this cave. Update the cave to have remnants of older Robot Masters from the original Mega Man series in the background. That would be so awesome.

I don't know why a lot of people find that stage difficult. I played X4 for the first time when I was barely 10 years old, and the only time I really got brickwalled hard was fighting Slash Beast and Split Mushroom as Zero. As X, the entire game was challenging but doable, but as Zero it was tougher.

But one thing that was never hard regardless of character was playing Jet Stingray's stage. You just had to memorize it, that's all. And it's only like 2-3 minutes.

Don't know how. X6 had ass level design but it still played as well, if not slightly better than any PS1 Megaman. X7 is not only a failure as an X game but as a 3D action title circa 2003 in general. It's a case study on how not to design a 3D game, period. X6 has an "it's bad, BUT..." out, X7 doesn't even have that going for it. It's just bad, no buts.

Protip: Always start with Yammark's stage. That said, the harmony (or lack thereof) between Nightmare effects and established stage design is definitely jank as hell in execution, at times rendering the game effectively broken if you don't have the right tools to deal with the problems arbitrarily thrown at you.

I've seen another user here theorize that the dubs of MM8 and X4 were some kind of in-house effort by Capcom, which would explain the poor quality if they just grabbed whoever could speak English the best to do it. If I remember correctly, those were done because the PS2/GC-era collection was supposed to feature re-dubbed cutscenes for X4 and dubs for X5 & X6 using the VAs from X8, Command Mission and Maverick Hunter X. (Also, Troy Baker somewhere talked about how he was going to voice Gate for that, but never got the chance to do so.)

Then the guy who played X in those games quit VA'ing altogether, Sony got autistic as FUCK over the re-dubs existing in the first place and they got abandoned after Lucas did half of Zero's cutscenes for X4.

Not exactly unheard of. That's usually was the case with a lot of early game and anime dubs, which was why they were so bad (and sometimes hilariously so). Even some stuff from France and Germany would do that with their programs, like Code Lyoko.

No, each new series in the main MM franchise involve events that never occurred in the games, and possibly never will for the sake of Capcom being able to keep milking them if they wanted to make endless sequels. Closest thing we got to any dots being connected between series was Zero being shown in silhouette in the Mega Man & Bass game. But nothing about what sets up the Zero games appeared in the X series.
