This was fun, but then I read online that there is a really low level cap and that really just sucked all the motivation to play the game out of me, knowing that it would probably ramp up the difficulty to the point where
1) My unoptimized RP build would be completely useless and I would get stuck tens of hours in because I didn't play with a guide open on my other monitor the whole time.
2) I would run out of means to improve my character. The character system was really fun, but it just gave me so much grief because I knew that every point was too precious to waste, so I couldn't enjoy experimenting with it.

I get that he wanted it to be hardcore or whatever, but if people want that then oddity mode already exists. Geneforge had the same problem, except it was easier and had multiple routes so you couldn't get stuck nearly as easy.

I've beaten the game by roleplaying my traits and perks. I basically made my friends dad, a big fa tguy who fixes electronics and computers while also liking guns. Had very little issues with the game

Not me. Fallout NV is god tier compared to this dumpster fire. At least there you can actually roleplay in a ROLEPLAYING game. My last playthrough I was a psycho cowboy. Before that I was an ncr hillbilly shotgun hobo. In Underrail? Nope, 10 int psychic for you and that's fucking it pretty much. Guns are terrible until like 70% of the way through the game or something. Unarmed is ok but boring.
The game is a fucking joke and anyone who says you dont have to minmax is a fucking liar.

I deleted this shit form my PC once I got to the Core city. What a clusterfuck of a map. Plus I got bored constantly dying.

So how come that even after something like 3 years you still come to every single Underrail thread to complain? Do you do this with every game you don't like? Nigga, learn to move on with your life.

My plan to cheese the game if needed was to go down the special ops tree and focus on SMGs/Throwables to burst enemies down, and hopefully I could just pour cash into ammo/grenades if I hit any roadblocks.

That went great against humans, but then I got to a point where the debris from the cave-in was clear and opened up the next path, but it was all bug enemies that would bumrush me and debuff the shit out of me as soon as combat started, and my SMG burst did a fat nothing to their armor. Maybe I could salvage the playthrough by just grinding cash for more throwables, I don't know.

It's been about a year and a half, so I don't remember all the details. Maybe I'll give it another shot this summer.

I'm a different user, who doesn't really like Underrail becuase I find it a bit boring. I tried to beat this game from scratch many time, but failed every time, ebcuase at some point I just quit and, well, never come back to finishing it. I guess this game is just not for me.

ehhhh, I enjoyed Underrail more than any other game I played in 2017 (that's when I played it), but you might actually be non meme autistic.

btw, i strongly reccomend playing this game on 2x speed, with a toggle for 8-10x speed for when you need to backtrack. I absolutely adore underrail but at times it really doesn't respect your time.

I tried them out and they seem kinda trash for the AP you spend on them

And the game is DRM-free, so most of the time I play I don't even bother logging in.

you need to max the fuck out of Dex, and use the special chem pistol belts that reduce the AP by 4. its actually a pretty fun build, it just takes a bit to get going

You can AoE set things on fore with ~85% chance for close to 400% DoT. It's gud.

I tried a pistol and riot shield build but i didn't think i skilled in any of the chem pistol feats which is where i fucked up

yeah, chem pistol really relies on its special feats. you need to pretty much take all of them if you're playing on anything above normal or your build will just be kinda shitty
