People chose their arcades sticks and pads over this kinda thing. You gotta figure out the minimum input for any direction on your stick/pad and accomplish it with a small and simple flick between instead of trying to hit the extremes.
l-cancels are gay but wavedash's are fun in every game they are in
By playing on keyboard / hitbox and never ever letting go of the one direction you need in order to charge.
