The ONLY reason Square Enix allowed Cloud to return for Smash Ultimate was to get a cut of the DLC sales by selling a Dragon Quest character, helping promote the IP on the west as well. Nintendo has been trying to push DQ on the west here too by publishing and translating several mainline games.
Anyone who stands back and actually thinks for a second will realize DQ just makes too much sense, factor in the Brave datamine and a DQ rep is basically confirmed at this point.
>Anyone who stands back and actually thinks for a second will realize DQ just makes too much sense Which is exactly why they're not going to do it. SquareEnix always does the opposite of what makes sense.
And as a Dragon Quest fan, stop making these fucking threads every day. You're just making the actual Dragon Quest community look bad with your autistic trolling. Unless of course, that's your plan. In which case, to everyone else out there, this guy doesn't speak for DQ fans.
Who gives a fuck what some shiteating Yea Forums smelly smashtards think, most of them should be executed for being subhuman.
Landon Ward
They wanted Cloud to be DLC you moron. Sakurai doesn't want to deal with their bullshit. Erdrick was also deconfirmed back in April. Get over it, he's never getting in
Gavin Morris
>Who gives a fuck what some shiteating Yea Forums smelly smashtards think You guys, who keep responding to these daily threads. There's two of them up right now.
What are you and the other Stevies going to do with all of those pictures when Brave turns out to be someone you didn't expect? I'm worried about the 40% of you guys
I kinda wondered how that would work. >Assuming Erdrick or any DQ character in smash getting in it would appeal to Japan >Assuming Banjo, Steve, Master Chef or anything western, it would appeal to the West Would the last dlc fighters appeal for both or would it follow a 1 for Japan and 1 for Western?
Andrew Adams
>Appealing to one (1) country when Joker appealed to everyone Why would they do this?
Isaiah Watson
Minecraft is big in japan too, Sans is another character who works for both regions. Still, all the FE reps show they care about JP a lot. I can see Erdrick, but I think DQ11 MC is more likely.
Frisk Phoenix Wright Travis Touchdown Monokuma Terry All characters with a completely unique moveset, coming from interesting games/series that appeal to the East and West
Eli Jenkins
I was going to laugh shitpost but your list speaks for itself, lmao.
Kayden Harris
Woah, that's actually a pretty based list. I'm sorry I doubted you.
If we just went by unique movesets, then someone like Prier or Krystal should be in the game. But obviously there's more to picking someone than just unique moves. Popularity is part of it.
On that note, the DQ heroes are more unique than just an "anime swordsman." They're closer to Sword Mages. And some of them don't even focus on swords. DQV hero could use monsters like Pokemon Trainer. Dragon Quest VIII hero could use spears or boomerangs. And so on.
And even the ones that use swords would play more like Robin than Marth or Roy. Every DQ hero across all the games (except II) has universal spells. Namely Kazap, Boom, Zoom, Divine Protection and Heal. This is why they should just have a base model (Loto) and then have alternate skins. So you could have heroes from eight different DQ games. They just share the same moveset. Like how Bowser Jr has skins for the Koopalings.
oh so you mean they allowed cloud to come back if nintendo adds sephiroth? y'know, because square enix wanted to get more money from them using FF content which is why there wasn't any added into ultimate from smash 4?
Kevin Richardson
>Nintendo has been trying to push DQ on the west here too by publishing and translating several mainline games. If they wanted to do that, they could try making a GOOD DQ game instead.
Noah Anderson
play dqv then
retard lol
Camden Lee
>tfw we get fucking Mickey Mouse as a Kingdom Hearts rep.
Owen Mitchell
You've never played DQ
Carter Roberts
>a few people on the west will be happy with Banjo. Imagine being such a weeb that you think everything western is irrelevant compared to glorious Nippon generic boring anime swordsman. Also, japan doesn't hate or ignore banjo, the first game sold over 400,000 units and tooie sold over 250,000.
Kevin Smith
>Source: my ass >Source: dude trust me
Brody Powell
>doubting the data go ahead user, but don't say I didn't warn you
>thinking a literal who from a game no one in the west bought from a franchise no one in west cares about is gonna be the main fighter reveal at a Western conference I'm gonna go with no DQ reps are getting in
>no actual proof he actually leaked VR Plant >ignoring he's guessing Stop setting yourself up for failure Banjofags, Erdrickfags can continue setting themselves up for failure cause their reactions will be hilarious
Sebastian Garcia
What the fuck are you talking about? The leak has 3 wild claims that have already proven true. Fire Pirahna Plant Smash Labo VR Just Shovel and Knights (You can't guesswork something like this, especially)
You can claim the Smash part of the leak to be dubious since it's specifically worded to be less committal. But the rest of the VR plant leak is 100% legit, and it's extreme accuracy gives me faith in the leakers Smash information.
Camden Harris
>VR Plant is legit What did this leak claim exactly?
Benjamin Butler
link to the full leak?
Noah Cooper
Don't have one, I just saw the thread on Yea Forums, verified that Just Shovels and Knights announcement happened after the leak went public because it was a real short span of time between the two (apparently it was given to some youtuber who relayed it to his community, don't really keep up with this shit) and saw that Smash Labo VR and Fire Pirahna Plant in Mario Tennis also happened. (apparently plant might have happened between the youtuber getting the leak and relaying it to people).
Bunch of pretty specific claims that have come true, a couple that haven't yet. If the leaker had to guess, he says Banjo and Erdrick at E3. He wasn't pushed for a statement on Smash, attached that to the bottom of his leak. I don't really remember the specifics beyond the 3 correct claims I've stated ITT and getting my bear and bird in Smash. But that + Banjo getting promotional merch out of the blue has me pretty convinced.
Thomas Reyes
A Dragon Quest character? Sure. Erdrick? Nah. It'll be a Slime, more than likely. Something actually recognizable to the average fan, not a character who's only really relevant to like two games from 30 years ago.
Christian Butler
I'll still pull for "Alef".
Tyler Thompson
>The ONLY reason Square Enix allowed Cloud to return for Smash Ultimate was to get a cut of the DLC sales Generally speaking guest characters are done as cross-promotions. Neither company pays the other because it's win/win for both of them
