the BETA kind of suck. they have no strategic planning ability, and no way to fight in outer space (in-game, their reinforcement hives sent from mars just get intercepted over and over again by nukes.) they'd be useless against anything in W40K

Doesn't really matter when you have universal scale numbers. There's a reasonable argument that can be made about BETA evolving just like Nids depending on the enemy abilities, but in the end enemies will perish. BETA will not.

BETA would be absolutely WRECKED by the Imperium. One virus bomb would destroy their whole race. Imperial ships could rain down death from orbit. Even if they hide underground, the Virus Bomb protocol dictates that all leftover organic matter on the surface is vaporized after the virus melts anything it can.

In-game, the BETA keep sending hives to Earth every few months (?) or so, but only the first two actually landed, the rest of the hives were spread by BETA on the ground. Every hive they've sent afterwards through space though is destroyed with Nukes, and the laser class have never shot any of those down.
