It's very probable that framerate drops can be improved without patches but yes, anything with a locked framerate won't run faster without work by the dev.

First party games are likely to get the necessary TLC, while other games that have dips will likely be able to stably remain at their highest framerate where they dipped on older consoles.

We actually have a nasty precedent for this in form of Bloodborne: it never received a Pro patch, and while PS4 Pro has this boost mode that should help games run better even if they officially don’t support Pro, it does nothing with Bloodborne because the shitty feeling performance comes mostly from bad frame pacing, not the framerate itself.

I played them on PS3 and they were good but not amazing. The updated HUD is nice but they didn't do any extra work on the textures or anything. They're uprezzed, have a stable framerate and are a great way to experience them on modern hardware but you're not getting bells and whistles like the MGS/ZOE/FFX HD Remasters where they actually worked on the game to make textures sharper and the like.

What dream franchise do you want Sony to bring back from the dead? For me, its Jak and Daxter.
