MGS2 is best

Sure why not. You guys ready to play MGS V again?
gamelust.com/news/its-not-over-yet-dedicated-fans-build-level-editor-for-mgsv-the-phantom-pain/

Why did Liquid spend all of MGS1 trying to kill Snake when he needed him for the launch codes?

Attached: Liquid1I2.png (470x437, 147K)

Testing him.

Replaying Metal Gear Solid these past couple of days was a great experience, reminded me of why I loved it so much, and it still held up in my eyes.
It's weird how simple things were back then, revisiting it felt analogous to life, watching the story wrap itself up so neatly, knowing what is to come, those childhood memories of playing it and how great and simple life seemed then.

Should I replay MGS2 and 3 as well? I'm considering it. Hasn't been as long since I played 2 and 3 since it had been with 1.

because it needed to look real. they needed to convince snake that they had the codes, so that he would try overriding the launch

You definitely should. They also hold up very well. I'm replaying at least one MGS1-3 every year.

MGS3 is perfection in my opinion.

oh, I know MGS2 and 3 hold up, I've played them each about 40 times each (no exaggeration) MGS2 is my favorite one in the series.

Been a couple of years now though since I've done a story playthrough of them. It would be neat to do them all in order. MGS2 is a taxing game to do a story playthrough of though, it has the deepest one and no matter how familiar with it you are, it'll make your head spin, because trying to keep all the threads together. I love it, but it's not an easy story to engage with like 1 and 3 are.

>Roy Campbell cucked his brother
I had forgotten this detail.

Attached: images.jpg (140x249, 6K)

Do you guys abuse the codec when you do story playthroughs? I do, there's so much stuff hidden away in great codec calls, not doing it, you miss out on so much.

Every small story beat has a codec call related to it, and from more than 1 person too.

Attached: BzORDha.png (2560x1440, 2.19M)

Never again.

1 = 2 = 3 > rest

I know people that played the game and never once called Nastasha

Crazy.
And if you didn't save in every single area of the tanker, you'd never know that Mei Ling actually has a cameo in MGS2, and a pretty great one at that.

I love Peace Walker. I feel it's the game where Kojima finally found a balance between getting his meta-jollies in, without sacrificing the game part of the video game. I like the story of Naked Boss having to confront his trauma, and the general spy flick plot and atmosphere. It's biggest flaw is its insulting lack of difficulty, but it's a fun fuckaround soldier-of-fortune simulator. And CO-OPS. God, CO-OPS sneaking is fun.

Attached: 1402845083010.jpg (1280x725, 214K)

>cameo
Er...

Sad there will never be another game like any of the main mgs games 1-4. They were perfect

>The whole reason I got into science in the first place was because I was no good with people. I was scared of them. I was scared of life. I thought that I could never understand them because they're so illogical. But I've finally learned how to like people. I'm not afraid anymore.

That's quite touching, Otacon, but we're in the middle of a MOH diddling right now!

I like PW more than MGS4 or PO, but the story was extremely redundant and the basic game design is lackluster despite featuring some occasionally cool level design. Too many same-y bosses and the enemies are all brain-dead outside of combat alerts. I did like the art direction in the cut scenes even if the story itself wasn't good, though.

There's usually nothing interesting though. Plus they have a ridiculously slow cadence. Snake's supposed to be on a mission, can't they talk a tad faster?

I absolutely love how Otacon and Snake are written in MGS2, going straight from MGS1 into 2 feels like such a nice and logical leap in character development, they both grew in the first game so seeing them confident in themselves and the mission on the tanker was really satisfying.

Their dialogue is snappier, they know each other better, they don't question everything the way they used to. They're both just really well written in MGS2.

Attached: mgs2 intro.jpg (1280x720, 54K)

>There's usually nothing interesting though
Well that's highly subjective. I personally love them for various reason, one reason is since a lot of them are contextual, they feel like they actually have a place in the game, unlike the tapes of PW and TPP where you just wonder why you're listening to this now over some other time. Also they do a lot to flesh out and add context to things, which gets you more involved with the characters and world. Sure, there are times where it can break immersion and you wonder why you're spending time on a leisurely codec call, but eh, I'll take that over the tapes any ay.

Metal Gear?

They should really have a dialogue system. It's silly having to call someone three times to get them to talk about what I want to hear. But it's a Japanese game so what can you do

>"Several pounds of MUF are reported each year!"
Why is that line so funny?

I played through MGS3 five times in the past two weeks. Ask me anything.

I tried to start a replay of MGSV last night for the first time since launch. I thought I remembered the opening hospital escape section being a lot more enjoyable, but upon replay is painfully slow and full of stupid moments. The chase scene on the horse with Ocelot was particularly terrible.
Also the sneaking is ruined by the open world, there's no level design and it just feels like a cluster fuck where sometimes you sneak in effortlessly because most of the enemies randomly wander to one side of the map or you get spotted randomly because the enemy placement is so sporadic.

That MGS3 intro is pretty fantastic. Back in 2004 when it first came out, it instantly became my favorite intro in the series, but I have to say that the MGS2 one beats it.

All story runs or are you just playing through it and skipping cutscenes?

I remember the first time playing it, stayed up all night playing it. Such an emotional game when it hits the ending, I was in tears.

i hope the best is yet to come bros, MGS can't die this way

Attached: bbsalute.jpg (800x450, 33K)

It ended fine with MGS4. V was a spin-off, not a real MGS game

cos' it's a game and liquid doesn't know it. only solid, as the player knows it. therefore liquid doesn't have the foresight to realise he needs solid for the launch codes because he's limited by his writing and programming within the game.

nah...
MG2, MGS3, and MGSV are the best.

Attached: MetalGearTier.png (1110x845, 967K)

It's a win-win. If Snake fails, Washington will still believe they can launch, due to the misinformation. If Snake succeeds they get the launch codes.

I never knew that you got the extended call with Ocelot at the end if you saved Meryl.
If you get the Otacon ending 2 twists are left out from the game. Saving Meryl reveals that Solid Snake was the inferior clone and that the President is "Solidus" (in actual name).

So wrong it hurts

>there are people who played MGS3 who never experienced Snake's nightmare, or the ensuing conversation with SIGINT about his shit dream.

How do I go about playing the pre-Solid games? Is it true the NES version is shit? Are there three games in total? Are they worth playing?

>MGS2 on the same tier as Portable Ops
MG2 and GB are great, though.

For the first one, because it'd been a while I watched everything and did a bunch of codecs too. For the rest I skipped through most of it (I like hearing "This is the end of the Cobras").

In England muff means pussy so it's pretty funny.

MGS3 has so many good codec calls. Top comfy movie talks with Para-Medic.

Kind of weird that she never properly appeared again, I know she gets alluded to here and there but compared to the other codec contacts she's gotten nothing

the intro is such a tease. such a big build up, the halo jump into tselinoyarsk, as if you're not already in the game, it builds up the idea of the action hero character, which is undone when snake is defeated as part of the game's story and fails his mission, only to do the "first ever" again when he is fired in the capsule from the blackbird...only to be defeated more swiftly before even being allowed to play the game and undergo the mission.

>tfw muff diving videos
being a teenager and discovering that term was the bomb, man. cunnilingus just wasn't good eonugh, it was too sensitive, but muffdiving meant fucking really going in on that pussy.

The NES games are different, and yes pretty shit. What you want are the MSX games. You can get an MSX emulator or you can play them through Subsistence. Either works; translation patches exist for the original MSX ROMs. They are very much worth playing.

Let's talk about how Big Venom Punished Snake Boss is a figure of mystery according to every thread on Yea Forums - Video Games that I have ever seen.

>Venom is a Big Boss clone that has Big Boss' personality doing Big Boss stuff. He's the same as Big Boss, really. Seems like he doesn't understand The Boss' will either. Why did Kojima make this guy? Dunno why Kojima made him mute. Wish I could see Venom and Big Boss working together.

or
>Venom Snake is exactly the same as Big Boss, the stories would happen the same way if their roles were swapped. Doublethink.

or
>Venom is his own completely unique character with his own personality who was forced by Big Boss to suffer as him, what a tragic lad. Fuck Big Boss, what a bitch. Venom dindu nuffin, he was a pacifist saint that tried to make a world a better place by disarming all the nukes evidenced by a LOL NOT CANON BUT IT STILL OUTLINES HIS MOTIVATIONS DESPITE NOT BEING CANON AND SEEING NO EVIDENCE OF THIS MOTIVATION IN THE STORY AT ALL and BIG BOG IS A CUNT WHO REJECTED THE BOSS AND VENOM ACCEPTED HER NIGGA LET'S TORCH BIG BOSS

or
>Venom Snake is Gray Fox. No wait, he's Ishmael. You're playing as the real Big Boss but with schizophrenia. Wait, Venom Snake's Chico. I forgot that Huey is actually Paz.

or
>Venom Snake doesn't exist

or
>Venom Snake is a black transqueer female gender rights activist in many Greenpeace organization who got a sex change and some bleach to become a man because Venom Snake is your avatar.

or
>VENOM SNAKE WAS ENTIRELY A PLOY TO EXPLAIN WHY BIG BOSS SURVIVED METAL GEAR 1

or
>Venom Snake, Solid Snake, Naked Snake and Raiden are all the same person, Snake

Venom Snake appears to be anything and no one can interpret him correctly. Bravo, Kojima.

Attached: bibo.jpg (267x370, 28K)

Had the same thought when replaying the game just now. She writes "In the shadow of shadow moses" but after MGS2 she's pretty much completely forgotten.

Thanks. They should really re-release them.

Venom Snake is a shit.

they were the best in MGS3 because Paramedic and Sigint were good company. Rose was annoying in MGS2 and even worse in 4.

>MGS3
>the best
>doesn't even have Otacon
Nah, MGS1 has the best codec team.

>snake's revenge that low

The avatar is not Venom Snake. The avatar is just meta bullshit, and in the canon, there's no such thing as an avatar, and Venom Snake is a completely unique character with a face that's definitely not the one you picked.

You can't even recreate GZ Medic's face within the face maker to pixel perfect precision.

In the game, when playing Venom Snake's story, the avatar represents Venom Snake and controls his actions there.

On FOB's, the avatar is just him/herself and he/she can either disguise as Venom Snake, Ocelot and Quiet.... or him/herself.

I guess this is what having AIDS is like.

How come Sunny is such a cute cunny? She is the daughter of a Russian dyke.

Attached: Sunny.png (180x345, 58K)

i still regularly play MGO on my ps4
the ability to create your own maps would be an awesome step because it's a great gamemode marred by poor balance decisions and a class-based levelling system
any amount of moderation tools for it alongside customized levels would be a great boon and might even revive the game on pc to an actual community

Are MGS1, 2 and 3 the most soulful kino in gaming history? Perfect trilogy of games.

This sounds like bullshit but I'm willing to believe it because Kojima is a pretentious hack ricenigger.

What a shameful shit taste, user please stop...

go away

I want to get fucked by Big Boss!

>I'm Big Boss, and you are too.
Yeah, it is.

MGS4 isn't garbage.

First post best post. MGS2 is true kino. 1and 2 are the best and it isn't even a competition.

You must be talking about Naked snake sir
Venom is not naked but venom and naked are Big Boss

:^)

So you want to fuck me? Or yourself?

Otacon had a hard life

Absolutely basado
Otacon is a cuck I get really pissed every time I have to hear him so no

Everybody that finished V is BB.
>big bad big boss orgy

Great gameplay, interrupted far too frequently by small cutscenes that take away your control, and force you down an overly linear path. The story is needlessly complicated so as to answer every question, while still trying to throw twists. It ain't great.

Final boss is kino tho

But it is him. What are you, stupid?

Venom Snake is the used-to-be-a-Medic, not you. Retard. The self insert only pertains to the games. He's still his own character.

That's just meta. Your and your fat virgin ass still aren't Big Boss, but Big Medic/Venom is in the canon. Suck on his dick, niggas.

>tfw Otacon was 25 in MGS1
I've never related with the character more than I do now. I wish I had a buddy like Solid Snake to come get me out of this rut.

MGS2 is the best, but it's also the hardest story to enjoy. I find it tougher to do story playthroughs of it than I do 1 and 3, because 1 and 3 are more immediately enjoyable, whereas 2 intentionally fucks with you all the way through and actually requires you pay full attention.

Imagine liking him
>Fuck his father wife
>Get cucked 1 by sniper wolf and run like a bitch from shadow moses
>Sister want to fuck him badly, he refused stop talking her, get her sister killed by homo vampire

I don't know why you plebs rank 3 so high, it's a good game but big boss isn't nearly as interesting as solid snake, soldius, liquid, otacon.. Literally nobody in 3 is and the story in 1 and 2 is much better. 3 is just a bond movie in MGS format, 1 and 2 is pure kino.

Ranking mgs 2 so high

Mgs 3 is kino the gameplay, replayability and the boss is one of the most charismatic villian.
In mgs 2 you get to fight a fat burger in skate, play as someone who has no real battle experience, hear her whiny ass gf , and receive orders from a Minecraft ai imagine how le retarded is the game

Had an aneurysm halfway through your retarded post, sorry I can't reply, I'm currently in the hospital and I might die because of you.

Please be more responsible in future posts, don't say things so fucking dumb that they'll cause mental harm to people of normal and above intellect.

Naked Snake is definitely overrated as fuck. After MGS2 seriously stepped up the writing for Solid Snake, it felt like such a step back to be thrown back into a complete autists shoes with mgs3.

He's so dumb in that game, feels like he has no agency. I've always felt like Solid was a much more human character, despite the fact that kojima came out and said he liked Naked snake more because he's human and flawed ,everything about Solid Snake in MGS1 was better written than Naked in 3, desu.

Brainlet

>Above intellect
Lmao.
You can't reply because you know all i wrote are facts, the reason you like him so much is because you're a cuck yourself

I say my favourite is MGS2, but MGS3 has better gameplay (feels more like a stealth action), compact and good written story and MUCH better bosses. 2 has Solid Snake, but overall 3 comes second after MGS in terms of characters.
MGS2 has that post-modern craziness and nice use of the medium (VR sections) which I think make up for its low points.

kept you waiting, huh

State facts about mgs2
>Brainlet

Attached: 30424669.jpg (400x225, 62K)

Even in MGS1 Solid Snake was written really well, he's the best protagonist by a mile. I don't know what the fuck Kojima is talking about, he really pulled that out of his ass. It may be different speaking from a writer perspective but Solid Snake feels more human in his games, breathes much more words too. Naked Snake just got told shit the entire game by everyone.

You stated your shit opinion, and you have zero taste.

Yeah. I've seen flocks and flocks of fans repeat the same shit he said about Naked Snake since he said it too, which is just... wrong, I don't get it.
Solid Snake is charismatic and human, he's flawed and has problems with himself, he's flirtatious and cares about people more than he cares about himself. There's a ton to his character in just MGS1 alone, yet people somehow brush that to the side as "he's just a cold killing machine, a clone, not human like Naked snake"
fucking what? I'll give MGS3 one thing, I do really like the Naked Snake and Ocelot relationship, it feels playful and the way grow a weird respect for each other is cool. But outside of Ocelot, really doesn't feel like he has too many memorable encounters with people, he's mostly just spoken to.
Solid on the other hand, every person he comes across he has something to say to them, he brings something of value to their life, he isn't just a blank face being told what to do next.

I know the makers of this commercial probably never even skimmed the story summary of the first two MG games wherein it's revealed that Big Boss set Solid Snake up to die, but that just makes this ad even funnier:

youtube.com/watch?v=Q6VYm33PlAU

Attached: trained as a joke.jpg (625x262, 55K)

Naked Snake in MGS3 always felt a bit like Solid Snake Lite to me. You can see how the writing consciously distinguishes Naked from Solid (the game hints at a nascent war-boner), but his character in MGS3 is so reactive that the goofy shit is what ends up getting the most focus save for the ending. He's very thin compared to Solid Snake or Raiden.

God I love 90s commercials.

While I don't like Peace Walker, I think the one thing that game got right was the characterization of Naked Snake. It felt akin to MGS1 in a way, where the people he came across he actually influenced, wasn't influenced by. He actually spoke to people, he had something to say, I really like that about that game. Too bad the actual story was shit.

>but his character in MGS3 is so reactive that the goofy shit is what ends up getting the most focus save for the ending. He's very thin compared to Solid Snake or Raiden.
also you put it really well here, I believe this is kind of a perfect summation of the problem with his character.

what? plebbit and apologist kojimadrones are fucking all over mgs4 and mgs5

How the fuck is he cucked by either of those people. That's not what cucking means user. The only cuck in your post is his dad, whom he has legitimately cucked to death, which is based and redpilled as all fuck.

I honestly think 4 has a message very much applicable to our times, possibly more applicable than 2’s message. The problem is though, is that 4’s message is just so heavily intertwined with and hidden by its plot, which admittedly drags the whole thing down

I feel like MGS1 and 2 Otacon are tolerable since it's mostly flaws from his old personality that cause his trouble. It's implied he's trying to do and be better when he's confronted with them.
However MGS4 was inexcusable, he was a hapless buffoon again to no point.

Big Boss is an evil version of Solid Snake.

Metal gear was all downhill after MGS1

Attached: 1452529133568.jpg (1446x1080, 343K)

I play with a kill-based approach. What do I care if the bad guys die.

MGO2 is one of the best online shooters ever. My pet project is to develop a spiritual successor to it on PC. It's full of unique mechanics and charm, with a high skill ceiling. It nailed cosmetic microtransactions before the term even existed (albeit with the konami ID bullshit). It had skill leveling up but. You could create and customise your own lobbies, and there would be CQC-only, knife-only, sniper-only lobbies always on the go. Various asymmetrical gamemodes like Team Sneaking (one side has stealth camo and nonlethals, other team has no invis but lethal guns) are great and totally absent from games since (honorable mention to SC spies vs. mercs which was also great). It's sad to see that third person shooters have been pretty much subsumed by FPS, when third person adds so much.
It had its flaws for sure but when it was good it was fucking good. There's a reason some still play it today.
youtube.com/watch?v=1bOgTnMffK0
You can skip MG1 and go straight to MG2, it's a much better game and basically a remake. If you can get ahold of the HD collection then MGS3 includes them iirc.
MGS4 suffers from a massive lack of actual stealth areas. There are few intricate areas with patrolling enemies, items and a goal to reach. Many of the levels in the first two chapters have crappy pretend gunfights between the factions that suck to sneak through. The third act is a neat set piece that drags on way too long, and isn't proper stealth either. Shadow moses only has the shitty hamster ball robot enemies and gekko, although I like the boss fight. The very first area in Act 5 is a stealth section, after that it's all fighting and bosses. The very first section in the game, from start to meeting the metal gear mk2 is probably the best actual stealth section in the entire game - the level where you meet the mk2 is so good they tried to bring it back as a mod map for MGO2.
