Also, since you're about to buy XC2, here's the newDriver pasta :
-Screencap tutorials because there isn't a reasonable way to view them again.
-Rex automatically gets fantastic blades so you don't need to give him much Blades from the gacha (but give him 2 or 3 good Blades)
-Use Pouch Items as much as possible, especially the ones that lets you recharge your Arts faster. Makes the flow of the battle better.
-On skill trees, you will see an ability unlock "Cancel a driver art with another driver art". It's imperative that you unlock this ASAP because it boosts the flow of battle tremendously.
-Also get the 3 skills that lets you start a battle with the Art already charged on the X, Y and B buttons
-Understand the Attack Cancelling mechanic, as it makes the flow of the battle better by recharging Arts quickly
-Swapping blades refills their arts palette.
-You can combo into and out of swapping blades.
-Most enemies will aggro you if you aren't 8 levels above them. And look at your environment before taking a step in the wild, or you could get your ass raped by a Gorilla 80 levels over you. But the game don't punish you for exploring, so don't be afraid to do it.
-Don't use too much bonus XP at inns unless you really need to because it can completely trivialize the game.
-Focus on the Driver Combo of Break > Topple > Launch > Smash when they will be introduced. The sooner you can understand this set up, the better.
-You can raise trust between a Driver and their Blade by repeatedly using pouch items over and over again. It costs money, but later in the game money is a non-issue.
-Raising trust with your Blade is needed to unlock the Blade's skill tree in most cases.
-Don't waste protocol overdrives. Especially on common blades. The game only gives you a few.
-DON'T kill the little Arduran in Torigoth until you feed it to Lv.99. He'll become the best Legendary Cores farming spot.

The real question is, what went wrong with XC2? The world wasn't as rich to explore, and objectively more tedious due to Field Skills. The gameplay was an improvement for sure, but your ability to properly experiment with new Blades was locked behind Gacha for the most part. The story took 6 whole Chapters to really gain focus, and even then the overly light hearted ending was nothing more than a terrible final boss, and fan service. Losing over half their team to work on "Bore of the Wild", really hurt the game, and it shows heavily. Torna was leagues ahead.

1 was extremely kino. It's a straight up legendary game. So is X, but 1 felt so much more exciting considering we hadn't had a good JRPG since Tales of Vesperia like 3 years before this game released, and then like 4 years before that when Symphonia released. Now JRPGs are great again.

X lacked spikes, but the enemies could deal far more damage otherwise. Ga Jiarg could straight up OHKO a level 30 skell, and the weather damage was brutal for builds that had no good way of keeping health up. People who hadn't kept up on their gear got thrashed by Ga Jiarg/Buidhe.

Everything after Prison Island has a spike, and it's not exactly hard to make anti-spike gems, especially when you know you're going to need them for the rest of the game, at least until you fight Abaasy.

Even if it was blocked, the max is like 50%, which scaling wise in any other game would still instantly kill anything 20 levels under you.

I ended up liking Xc2 more because enemy balancing, difficulty sliders and Blade synergy added some interesting variety. X was great in this department but the grinding for augments and killing Telethia and Yggdralith was boring as fuck. XC1 unfortunately had that stupid level mechanic that pretty much forced you to stack on one fucking stat to even hit the enemies and every single superbosses have some sort of stupid spike to add some artificial difficulty

I've focused entirely on beamspam the entire time. Once I saw there was a giant beam class I went for that and I carried that philosophy to skells. I actually just started playing last month, 200ish hours in and I just got skell flight and have been having tons of fun exploring all of the first three zones I couldn't reach before. Sylvalum and Cauldros I've hardly touched at this point

They started as the same person, but their experiences made them develop in different ways.
XB1 Klaus got a whole new universe to play god in, and that made him into an even bigger dick.
XB2 Klaus got to see the destruction his rash behavior had caused and had to rebuild things himself, and that helped humble him (though he's still kind of a dick).

It's done pretty great. They're indeed the same person. There's one big difference though. Klaus in XC1 is one that sees the experiment as a success, and got full of himself. Klaus in XC2 is one that sees Earth getting destroyed and trying to make amend and fixing his mistake

People have been saying a prequel along the lines of would be good. Basically you play as Klaus or someone close to him in the events leading up to the experiment that spawns the XB1 universe and borks the original one.

My idea for the epic tweest is close to the end, you learn that it's not a prequel at all and is in fact a direct sequel to XB1 taking place in the universe Shulk created. Time operates in a Zanza->Shulk->Zanza loop with alternate universes branching off from that central "hub". At the end, Klaus is given the choice whether to continue or attempt to branch off into something else. The result is left ambiguous.

I actually haven't played a Persona game, since P4. P5 was arguably, offensive garbage, and I only really save the artwork. The threads can fall apart for all I care, since I know they'll progressively get worse in the future. The Xeno fandom is in the same boat, so there's no point in trying to throw around buzzword terms like "seethe", or "cope". I think Gears is better overall, despite its flaws.
Xenosaga has even MORE issues imo because of its botched development. That being said, all the shit with the upper and lower domains and eternal recurrence were really cool in Xenosaga, and make me thing it would've been the better IP if it didn't get fucked so hard after Ep I.

The soundtrack will grow on you as you play. I remember when black tar leaked pre-release I almost cancelled my preorder, but after 100 hours uncontrollable is now one of my favorite songs in the series and I love the rest of the soundtrack as well except for the NLA themes.
Similar experience with XB2 when I saw the art style and, once again, I ended up loving the game. At this point I'm embracing the fact that I'm going to see some bullshit in the eventual XB3/XBX2 reveal and I'll just roll with it.

Gears was overally the better game, yes, and it wasn't fucked as hard as Saga. Saga is divided into 3 games with largely fluctuating quality.
That said Saga 3, even with the cropped plot, was more close to the ultimate JRPG masterpiece than anything else.

I already know of the Skell theme and I am pumped for in 30 hours time to lose my uninsured Skell.

It's a solid port, but the textures and resolution are shit. Depends on if you value graphics or portability more.

I got burnt out and dropped it a little ways after the halfway point, then picked it back up almost a year later and finished it and was very glad I did. the second half might drag a bit but it's still great.

XS3 is the single best of the pre-Blade Xeno games (I only make that distinction because imo they're just too different to be put side by side. I play one for story, the other for gameplay.) but XG remains the better entity because at the end of the day XSIII is just 1/3 of a story while XG is the whole shebang.

I personally didn't get my first skell until 50 hours, and the flight module was after 80.
But holy fuck did taking it slow like that make finally high-tailing it to the top of talon rock even more gratifying. Unironically one of my favorite moments in gaming.
