I'm fairly certain that they'll replace Off The Hook, but I really fucking hope that they don't. OTH duo are so much better than the squid sisters. They had actual personalities that were more fleshed out and far more developed than the sisters.
If they do replace them, I just hope they stick around as some major story plot points or as unlockable costumes to use in multiplayer.

I just got the game a couple months ago. I let my brother borrow it so I missed 2 splatfests because of that. The other one I just forgot about. I haven't even really started playing the game yet. I just made my character and went through the tutorial.
What do they even gain by making these limited events? They could literally pre-program dozens or even hundreds of scenarios in advance and release them on a timed schedule

Because they don't want them to feel like soulless machine generated events spat out just to keep them going. They want them to be special, that's why there's unique art and dialogue for each one. They also want to save some for sequels instead of just going through all the good ideas in one game. Unless you want shit like Save it or Eat it repeated over and over again for an entire game's lifespan.
