i loved the prime games but they're the type of games i really only feel like i can experience once.

I don’t think Nintendo is in a rush to remake Super. I think even they know a remake wouldn’t come close to the original, so I don’t think they’d chance it when they can just make a new entry.

I already own and completed it on the Wii so I don't see the point in buying it again.

That was essentially what Samus Returns was for Metroid II. And while a Super Metroid remake made in a similar fashion to Samus Returns wouldn’t bother me, I can see some Super Metroid purists not liking it.

What would you like a remake of SM to do?

Personally I don't think SM is in any need of QoL changes, and if you just want new stuff I'd rather they make a new 2D metroid entirerly. I guess I wouldn't say no to modern stuff like widescreen or maybe a edge grab like Fusion/ZM, but SM was never designed for any of those things so just adding it in probably wouldn't yield much benefit.

Fuck no, that shit's visually downgraded and casualized. You need the initial release version of Prime 1/2/3 because of sequence breaking and balance changes.

I don't own a Switch but plan to once a revision comes along.

That said, yes. I fucking adore Metroid and would hate to get fucked on a physical release so I'd buy it in advance of getting my Switch if I had to. I have three Metroid amiibo (Samus+Metroid two pack and Ridley) even though I don't own a console I can use them with.
