I play games which are fun

I refuse to go above 60hz cause I know I'll never enjoy anything less again

I have a 4K tv and 1200p monitor so yes I did.
My PC can't do 4K tho. There's some games on PS4pro that have native 4K res but it's not that noticeable because I'm sitting so far from the tv.

FPBP

if you are not playing at at LEAST 4k, you need to kill yourself

fps is more important. Game can look good or bad but if it runs on low frame rate then it's impossible to play

I only play starcraft so I'm good

Attached: 1509545564406.gif (540x540, 245K)

I have 4k60hz on monitor 1 and 1440p155hz on monitor 2 and while 155hz is good for games 4k is FAR better when doing ANYTHING else. when I open a webpage or text document on my 1440p screen I want to kill myself.

you could also argue that freesync/gsync is better than a high refresh rate depending on the kind of games you play.

Attached: dual-monitor-dpi-change-wayland[1].jpg (2448x1836, 1.36M)

Perhaps this is true on a monitor a few feet from your face. Across the room on a TV I don't see the difference.

honestly 4K on a TV is a meme (nothing wrong with a monitor though)

when you first turn your TV on while you're close, you'll be like WOAH, then you'll go back on the couch and there won't even be a difference

even with 10/10 vision and a huge as fuck TV, pixels just start to blend together in your vision when you get farther

..if anything, if you want the most out of it, you need the screen to be as close as possible and (in order to see the whole picture) need it to be small to fit in your field of view

big doesn't = better nor a necessity for 4K

This basically
Up close everything looks amazing
Second you sit on the couch you can barely tell the difference between 720p 1080p and 4K and easily mistake 1 for another

Yeah and my soul hurts ,for once after experiencing 1440 144hz fast paced games feel like shit in 60 hz but after experience 4k anything lower looks like shit.
In the end since I watch a lot of videos and movies on my computer, even more than gaming I settled for a 4k 60hz monitor, fuck Nvidia launch 4k 144hz capable cards for Gods sake.

>left soulless
>right soul

I had a monitor that could do that, but the soldered on VGA cable just simply could not handle the resolution and became blurry at 2048x1536. Could really only max out at 1600x1200 without it being a mess.

Why yes, I have had sex, how could you tell?

I don't care. I'd take a good game with bad framerate and resolution over a shit game with good framerate and resolution any day.

Just want to play vidya. I bought a cheap Xbox One, not even the One X and a cheap 1080p TV just to play videogames. I had enough money to buy a 4k and a One X but decided to waste that money on other stuff.

t. low iq coping incel

No. I went for the far more reasonable 1440p. Better than 1080p at larger screens without breaking the bank in terms of hardware.

I'm getting a 3440x1440p superwide and I'm afraid I won't be able to go back to my screens at work, don't do this to me user

Higher refresh rate >>>>>>>>> Higher resolution

There's a chance it's aging caps rather than a bad cable, I've been meaning to do this on my monitor as even at 1920x1440 it's not as sharp as it used to be and it used to be able to do that resolution fine.

Be humble, user. Stay with 1080.

my monitor can only do 1600x1200 in 64hz but I love it.

This was back in 2005, the monitor was only a few months old at the time. I haven't had the thing sine 2010 unfortunately :/

Non shit posting response please. Will I be fine with a 7700k with a 2080ti? I don't mind 60hz at all and would be willing to downscale to either 1440 or 1080p.

Don't listen to the other user, get that 1440p ultrawide and bring it in to work every day to flex on the 1080p 16:9 plebeians.

The only people that should care about that kind of this are the people that use high end rigs to play competitive games.

ergo, not me. I don't treat videogames as a life style, just as a hobby. Once I'm done messing around in a videogame I move to a different one.

Going from a 1080p to 4K HDR with my XboneX, I greatly disagree with you

1440 currently but waiting to see what specs you need for next gen. Would miss 60fps and downressing would be pointless.

The eyes can’t process anything above 480p

No one with a brain did. It only matters if you have the equipment that actually takes true advantage of it and even if you do no developer supports graphics that actually make complete use of 4K only modders do.

Glad I'm not a faggot who fell for it.

>1440p
>Shit that dosn't scale with any other resolution properly
Fuck that. I'll stick with 1080p till I can get a 4k 120hz+ monitor for $500.

>dosn't scale with any other resolution properly
????

Enjoy waiting for 10 years at the bare minimum.

Integer scaling literally doesn't matter in the slightest. For anything non-native, your nvidia driver will use bilinear scaling anyway and you can't opt out.

Yes I bought a TV in the last 5 years. OP is baka.

Attached: recettear.jpg (559x404, 69K)

>bilinear scaling
Why the fuck would I want that, thats exactly why I always aim for integer scaling.

You know that resolution scale with literally anything other than pixel art is completely arbitrary right? Half the point of PC? Can have whatever sort of graphics configuration your hardware you want, even if it doesn't exist currently (to a point)?
When is a proper PC game not natively rendering at whatever resolution you tell it to render at for this to be a problem?

>You know that resolution scale with literally anything other than pixel art is completely arbitrary right?
Yes
But thats exactly why I want it to integer scaling. I work with many applications and games that use rasterized graphics.

Not 4k itself, but this focus on resolution bumps is a meme. It's just easier to market a number than other facets of visual fidelity to people. I have a 65" that I sit 8 or so feet away from and straight up can't see a difference between 1440p and 4k content from that distance. And I can't imagine getting a bigger TV in the same setup so resolution increases arent going to make much of a difference at this point

It's even more of a meme when you realize the average person has no sense of video quality in the first place. The amount of people I've seen buy a new TV and not even take the time to set it up properly or even watch appropriately scaled content on it is baffling. Like my friend had that God awful 'trumotion' shit on that interpolates frames to make 24fps content 'look' like 60fps, with the awful blur and artifacting it comes with. He couldn't even tell. And when I came over and instantly had to turn it off he couldn't even tell anything had changed

Again, no one actually cares about the quality of their display, they just want to feel good about buying products with bigger numbers on the box

This, most people don't give a shit about the actual quality of their display. Default settings that look like garbage and playing games with 120ms of display lag, nothing matters except for the number on the box.

That's because the human eye can't see more than 24 fps anyway. That's why movies are shot at that framerate too. Everything else is just a big meme and you fell for it.

True. I spent hours setting up my laptop to play anime just right. Most people just doubleclick with VLC.

Of course you wouldn't want it. But you're getting it anyway. People have been submitting tickets to nvidia asking for nearest neighbor for years, but apparently that's too low on their priority list.

If you're playing a lot of / primarily VN's or the like, then I could see that being a genuine concern, but literally anything else is either so low resolution (8bit / 16 bit 320x240 stuff) that it's a non issue, or anything involving rendering polygons in real time to the screen, which again makes the resolution arbitrary and a non issue.
And any programs that don't support having the resolution being dynamically changed by the window size, you know, one of the key features of a OS with windowed programs, then it's a pretty shit program to not have what is a unquestionably standard feature of any remotely modern program.

have you tried not being a retard?

How can a resolution be a meme?

For me it was better edges on the models with 1440p and 4k, i hate using any kind of AA cause it's blur the picture.

Do I really need a 240hz ? Is 144 hz enough or 120hz?

Is it more important to go for hertz or resolution? Like between
3840x2160 120 hz
And
2560x1440 240 hz

What looks better

As long as the game is fun, resolution framerate dont matter

I would rather have fun games on the go

I have 120hz display, and i usually play with 60fps lock cause i'm barely can see any difference, so it's just better to take off some heat from hardware.

I didn't even fall for the 1080p meme. 720p was considered HD back in my day so anything above that seems superfluous.

This dose tastes a little too chalky.

The only thing you'll really notice most of the time in higher resolutions is going to be the FPS loss, though more games these days are starting to really take advantage of higher resolution displays.
I didn't really notice the difference going from 60HZ to 144HZ until I played on another computer a few months later for a while. I legitimately thought something was broken.
It is nice, but your fears are not misplaced. Video games can be fun at 1080@60. Enjoy them.

Same problem VR is having - only steady stream of good content is pornographic. Wish I had picked up a cheaper headset if I knew this was all I was going to use it for a year down the line.

4K on a TV would be a meme if it wasn't a free feature with every TV over 40 inches sold today.

i grabbed an xbox one s when they first came out as it was $100 cheaper than a stand alone 4k blu-ray player then buy 4k blu-rays as they include a 4k disk, a normal 1080p disc, and a 4k digital code.

i use the discs when my internet doesn't want to cooperate otherwise i just stream them.

4k video games are just not ready yet unless you use your desktop computer and can insure you have 60hz or above (otherwise 1080p and higher refresh is the way to go)

Stick to it. It will be cool if it remains in development, and it honestly still is neat right now, but there's just not enough interesting content to last you very long. If you want to check out the porn, get an Oculus Go on the cheap.

Switched to 4K a few years ago already, high DPI is amazing. Looking to move to 4K 120Hz+ now.

I just want 1080p textures and non blocky models but with a shitload of rich content. I’m so tired of the fucking gorgeous looking games that are only 8 hours long then have some soilent online shit. I’ve not enjoyed a vidya in years that made me sit back and say wow. Make games great again!

Nope. I have a 1920x1080 widescreen monitor, and a computer that can run games at max settings with a solid 60 frames per second. That is more then enough for me, nothing about 4k monitors makes them worth the expense.

>acer predator xb271hu is better.
how?

In that case I will take higher resolution. I personally don't notice changes in frames per second, like it doesn't bother me. The whole time people were talking about Bloodborne and its fps problems I didn't notice anything at all, and I tried. I think my eyes are just retarded. I don't think I'll ever invest in 144hz displays. 8k seems like a meme, like it's too much. Spending on 4k was already hard for me to agree with

I actually have a 14" CRT monitor that can output 1024x768 and I can run games from 1994 at max settings. That is more then enough for me, nothing about 4k monitors makes them worth the expense.

Where I live, they're at least twice that, minimum.

I'd say the jump from 1080p 24'' to 1440p 27'' was definitely worth it. Aliasing used to drive me crazy, now I hardly ever need AA.

Your argument basically comes down to "look how much things sucked back then", so newer is always better and we shouldn't ever stop innovating. Hard disagree. My battlestation handles 1080@60fps and I'm the happiest I've ever been. Graphics enjoyment has plateau'd for me.

yeah, I play one 1440x900 monitor. How could you tell?

Same here, I'm happy with my setup, why the butthurt reply?

i love how at the beginning people were like, "there's no perceptible difference between 60hz and 144hz, the human eye can only perceive 60fps"

turns out they forgot to change the display settings in their OS from 60hz to 144 after they installed a new 144hz monitor.
