The closer we get to ShB the more I'm starting to hate it. The zones were fucking garbage except the Steppe, the story was very mediocre compared to Heavensward. The only things it got right were QoL changes and the Ultimate fights, otherwise a complete wet fart of an expac and I cannot wait to leave it behind.

SE thought to curb runaway PvP victories by making it so groups can only join as freelancers, but all that does is shit up faction balance further. If Adders or Flames could build a premade to counter Mael's momentum, it'd be enough to break their stranglehold on good PvPers since it would only depend on finding a PvP FC.

The issue isn't the leveling, it's the hundreds of main story quests that gate every single feature of the game, most of the quests being fetch quests.

That's the stupidest idea ever. And almost no one bothers to play Frontlines regularly. It's not like raiding. It's just some shit you do now and then and mostly for the rewards then quit. Honestly, finding people to run Frontlines with in premade is already hard enough because most premades are just friends or Feast groups that go in for fun.

Most FCs that do PvP don't do it exclusively, just in addition to raiding. I was in one for a while that did PvP two nights a week for whoever wanted to come, it wasn't a bad way to have fun and get some EXP on alts, especially when SB was new. Feast is another story, but it's less about the FC on that.

DRK hunts down Templar Knights and Priests who take advantage of the weak and SAM are generally peacekeepers like in Kugane.

Which server should I play on? I'm not a hardcore raider and definitely won't be doing Ultimate stuff ever. May do Savage, but I'm not a pissbottle raider and will be late to the party. The problem with FFXIV is that the story is mandatory to do anything. As in, you can't even raid unless you've finished the main story line. Unfortunately the story is boring bland Final Fantasy stuff (think X and on), so it's just a huge chore to finish. I've tried three times and quit every time, it's that damn boring.

im new and level 35, leveling isn't soo bad, when does leveling get brutal?

Not so much levelling, but the main story quests for patches 2.1 to 2.55 are a real slog for most people. For levelling, I guess it's a lot harder for the second class you level since you won't have the huge exp the MSQs give you though you'll at least have the "armory bonus" for any class lower level than your highest level class.

It doesn't really. The worst is the 2.x patch content in the MSQ and that has stopped a lot of people, but actually leveling your jobs is pretty easy. I've been getting shit to 60 so I can get the garo stuff and each job has only taken me a few days to get there.

50-61 but the large amount of roulettes make it decent. Only a problem if you try to rush beyond the daily stuff. The brutal part isn't levelling really since you'll get more and more daily roulettes with huge chunks of xp as long as you don't rush. The brutal part is the main scenario quests. If you skip them, you miss out on good stuff here and there. If you don't skip them it's an insanely long grind. MSQ is by far the most brutal thing not levelling. Levelling? you can do a lot of stuff and work on that at your own pace and have fun in different content. MSQ? To progress MSQ you do MSQ. Want to unlock content? MSQ. Anyway I make it sound awful but it is a surprisingly good story. Just a bit.. roughly forced down your throat early on. Welcome to xiv, user. Avoid tranny au ra, miqo'te, and Mentors (Crowns)

Happy to help. As said the MSQ is very hamfisted early on in ARR and HW but it really does get better. It sucks mostly because you (and I before i progressed) are behind and there aren't as many people doing the same stuff not to mention the content that's out of reach atm. Fetch nonsense gets better though and story too. Not just HW but you'll have to trust me on that one. Have fun.
Also this. when you want to level other classes later down the line you get an big xp boost.
