I dream of an asymmetrical Kaiju game. Kaiju is played in VR while you have FPS players as the military evacuating and coordinating attacks. After certain damage thresholds are reached more resources get unlocked. Winning is defeating the monster, while the monster wins if he destroys enough city or depletes the military enough.

It needed maybe 10 more minutes to flesh it out. All we needed was a scene of mommy selling the kid on her plan and another one where we see dad being a drunk asshole who shattered his family. Then it works fine and all the motivations add up fairly well and are well expressed. As it is, the issue is that we don't see Madison being sold on the evil plan nor do we really understand how badly Dad fucked up [Badly enough that Madison chose to stay with the people who murder people]

Wanna know a secret though? The human element is never that good. These are fun B movies and KotM delivered on that in fucking spades.

It's incredibly difficult to develop a good human story regardless, especially when you have Godzilla at war with 2 other big kaijus. I think the writing was especially a mess in KOTM but It doesn't take the satisfying experience I, and many others, had from the movie. The Heisei era movies have continuous human stories expanded across several movies and even then it's difficult to care about them. The Biollante movie unironically has possibly one of the best human story told in a Godzilla movie and that's because they obviously put a clear focus on it other than Godzilla and his fight against Biollante.

The games are all shit. And so are the American versions of these movies, and for the same reasons too: Americans try way too hard to make Godzilla super serious. The Japs know all we want to see are giant monsters fucking shit up. And so they play up the cheese and corny aspects for laughs. We all know it's filler, but it's at least entertaining filler that fits into the overall plot and gets us to the monsters.

The Americans play it too straight and serious. And when you try to be serious about giant monsters, it removes your suspension of disbelief and just makes you realize how retarded this shit is.

Even the games are like this. They start out okay and then just divebomb it by being too serious about it when what it really needs is just a really good, cheesy plot that is compelling enough to fill in the time between monster fights.

My only complaint of this movie, aside from the dog shit human drama, is that the US chair force just fucking gave up and let Monarch take the hit.

Since games like Dead by Daylight exist I was thinking a game where one or a couple people control a giant monster/robot while a bunch of people control ai, tanks, helicopters etc and the goal would be for the monster to destroy the whole city while the human objective would be to save as much as possible. Someone tell me right now what the point of that was? Neither the Oxygen Destroyer nor Godzilla's meltdown had lasting consequences. When they mentioned the Oxygen Destroyer I was so hyped up because I thought this movie would set up Godzilla vs Destoroyah the same way KotM is an unofficial remake of Monsters All-Out Attack but that didn't happen. They pissed away the Oxygen Destroyer and Burning Godzilla as quickly as they were introduced. Additionally there was no real climax in the ending battle this time, no "oh shit" moment that stood out. I think the 2014 film did the ending climax better but there are still some great moments in this film, it's just a lot of wasted potential too.

Adding to this, is right. I was waiting for Burning Goji's super nuclear breath but it didn't come.

Godzilla's intelligence is extremely high, however the physical ability negates the need for a lot of complex calculation. For example; if Godzilla wanted to he could in fact read and communicate with humans, but there is 0 reason for him to do so because he is a evolutionary at a much higher level of existence than humans.

There's plenty of instances showing Kaiju are able to communicate with one another, but it is beyond normal human understanding of how they do so.

There was a kickstarter game that was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. Unfortunately they made the mistake of letting packers add their own characters to the game if they paid several thousand dollars. Some autistic fuck added his fursona to the game and then paid a few thousand more to add his friend's macro fetish character.

It's just as well-- the project's management was disastrous and it was never finished. As soon as people started buying their shitty characters into the game the project was dead though. There was also some autistic Japanese girl who paid to have her muscle fetish kaiju put in the game and they could't even figure out how to draw the stupid thing because the picture she drew was overly detailed and made no sense. It looked like something a child would draw.

Maybe that's why the critics hated this movie. If Mothra was a self-righteous cunt who lectures Godzilla about his toxic masculinity, they would have loved it.
