matador is the boogieman of nocturne/SMT fans. if you're prepared he's nothing too rough, it's just a combination of how badly the fight can go if you're not prepared + him sucking you into his spooky bone dimension without you being able to refuse that makes him leave such a strong impression on people

mot is the one time nocturne is actually unfair but he's also the only boss after troll (the third boss) who has an elemental weakness so assuming he doesn't roll the dice and decide you lose you can gank him realy easily

play on hard to get the real experience, on normal you can get away with hoarding items and just doing whatever instead of being encouraged to play with the games mechanics more throughly
don't enter the amala network with a bunch of demons weak to fire as your only party is the only real gameplay tip I'd suggest as it's the only way you could actually fuck yourself pretty hard

Pump stats into STR/VIT only or magic. Agi is worthless after 10 and luck does nothing. Fog breath is the best skill in the game, and physcial attacks are shit in the early game but strong in the lategame, while magic is the opposite. Play on hard or just play the Hardtype mod, back attacks are cancer in the beginning of the game but go away with minds eye.

That's bullshit. I followed this advice awhile ago, and even with Sukukaja spam, I was getting dodged to death by bosses like Metatron. If anything, 20 should be the limit.

Nope, at +1 Sukukaja you are always hitting your target so either Metatron was buffed or you were debuffed, or both. Not only does Agility barely affect hit/evasion rate, the formula gets fucked the higher your level. You want 10 just so aren't dead last in the turn order. Even at 40 agility you can miss attacks in a row.

haunt preta is the earliest demon that learns fog breath, get that and then fuse him with some other demon to get better resistances plus fog breath extremely early
uzume and nozuchi are the best demons to deal wtih matadors bullshit as they both have resistance/absorb for force
fog breath and war cry are a must if you are doing hard mode, and even normal mode
fuse daisoujou as early as possible (level 37). he learns prayer (best healing spell) plus meditation to be self reliant. be sure to pack him with war-cry/debilitate/fogbreath/ any buffs or debuffs when you fuse him, as his other spells are quite weak. he can even be used up until the late game.
yoma onkot evolves in to one of the best mid game demons, wu-kong
almost any demon can be good if fused with the correct moves.
go for the true demon ending to get the best ending, plus a bunch of bonus loot. If you do the TDE, be sure to hold onto the pixie from the beginning in order to get a buff as fuck lvl 80 pixie with great spells at the end of the fifth kalpa. it doesnt matter if you fuse the pixie, just don't ever dismiss it from your roster.
try to maintain a balanced team with decent magic dmg, healing, and strength (as some bosses are resistant or repel phys dmg)
dont bother trying to make a balanced char, just go STR or MAG immediately
almost all of the fiends are worth fusing just due to their resistances and stats
keep cycling fusions on the same two to get the spells that you want instead of just accepting the first result. this will result in extremely powerful demons early on.
