COURT IS NOW IN SESSION Yea Forums! Just wanted to remind you that we're another day closer to Phoenix (yes, THE Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney, also known as Naruhodo Ryuichi from Gyakuten Saiban) getting confirmed in Smash Ultimate! Make sure to withhold your objections for the upcoming Fighters Pass when Phoenix takes the case!
>b-but Leon Kennedy or Monster Hunter will get in over him as the DLC Capcom rep! They've sold millions in comparison to his minute visual novel series! And he was already in MvC3!
"Hold it!"
Why would Nintendo possibly choose yet another martial artist/gunman or another "unique" sword wielder over a gesticulating, and geeky yet confident attorney such as the one pictured? Phoenix has even been mainly on Nintendo consoles since 2001 (all the way back on the GBA), becoming ingrained in the gaming subconscious with his trademark "objection" and incessant finger pointing, and the visual novel genre has yet to be explored with a playable fighter in Smash! Phoenix Wright would have a moveset unique to anyone else in the Smash series! He could utilize his friend Maya's Magatama as a grab, or even toss vital evidence at his opponents to secure the innocence of his client! His playstyle in Smash wouldn't have to be based off of MvC3 per se, as Smash's unique platform-fighter genre and other mechanics, alongside Sakurai's attention to detail, could allow Phoenix even more variation in his moveset! If you can't grasp this reality, try drinking some grape juice to wash away your sorrows. And do make sure to look out for Ace Attorney 7, announced as an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch this upcoming Tokyo Game Show!
If you can stomach this fujo's voice for 41 minutes, I think this is a good video that showcases Phoenix's potential in Smash. youtube.com/watch?v=ybB1fpE8maY Although I disagree on Apollo being the echo fighter. Edgeworth should be the one; you'd just need some mild moveset/expression/animation adjustments and I think he could work out fine.
>DLC Capcom rep Not happening. Three characters for a third party company is more than enough.
Cameron Rogers
its a step ladder
Robert Fisher
>AAfags sinking to B*njo and St*ve tier Not a shock, you annoying parasites are everywhere.
Luke Carter
Would Thought Route be a good Final Smash or is it too shitty of a mechanic to be worthy of such a thing? He calls it a stepladder, so yes, the special would be a stepladder. Edgeworth on the other hand would have the special be called ladder as that's what side he takes in the debate. There would be no visual differences between the two specials. Capcom has some of the biggest and most iconic characters in gaming under their repertoire, pretty much on the level of Nintendo. It shouldn't matter what company owns what characters. The only factors that determine a character's inclusion should be their moveset potential, popularity, and their relationship with Nintendo.
Lucas Long
give me an objection counter and i'm in
Nathan Thomas
you have to stop judging things by their appearance
Jayden Hughes
>route as a final smash If he get's in, I don't care what he's like. His Final Smash could be subjugating his opponents to 4-3 for all I care.
Adrian Cooper
>Capcom has some of the biggest and most iconic characters in gaming under their repertoire They do. So go play MvC or something. Smash doesn't need to be Nintendo vs Capcom.
Angel Wood
I think Resident Evil should at least be represented whether it'd be Leon or Jill, then you'd have the big 3 Capcom franchises and I'm fine with no more being added.
Aaron Bailey
But I don't like traditional fighting games and I want to play as my favorite characters.
Adam Jones
Phoenix's recovery is called "step-ladder." Edgeworth's recovery is called "ladder." There is no mechanical or visual difference between the two moves.
Cooper Baker
Don't care about the publisher, care about the franchise.
Dylan Walker
Would it be better if Phoenix/Edgeworth's specials all had the word "turnabout" in them? E.g., Phoenix's Up Special would be "Stepladder to the Turnabout"
Ian Foster
I want to believe they'd pick him over a Resi/Monster Hunter character, but I can't.
Yes, every single one of their moves except for one specific one called Rise from the [Blank].
Isaiah Parker
I could see them just keeping MH to the Mii costume. But my guess for Capcom's fighter is either Leon or Dante, which is fine by me. I'd miss Nick though
Colton Campbell
>21 October 2005
No. And before anyone tries to say "Well Sakurai is a fan of Ace Attorney I guess so he must be in!". Sakurai is a fan of fucking everything. Dude just likes games.
Evan Smith
How do you make a new moveset for him that's different enough from Marvel? I don't know if it can be done.
Jason Rodriguez
>Dante I wish it wasn't him, but he seems like the kind of character that Sakurai likes
Aiden Bailey
Why would it have to be intentionally different from his Marvel moveset? Ryu and Ken have their movesets translated into Smash, they could easily do the same for Nick.
I feel like Dante is more likely to just be in the next Smash game then be in the fighter pass. I'm willing to bet money on a RE rep though, it makes too much fucking sense right now with REmake 2 and the switch ports.
Aaron Morales
Meh
Still better than Banjo/Steve/Erdrick/Reimu/Doomguy
Connor Myers
Based mexican little girl, I don't give a fuck about what it is as long as I get to present evidence in order to solve murder mysteries and get surprised by twists.
Jace Young
“Objection!” is more iconic than anything that has ever come out of Monster Hunter or Resident Evil.
I got a couple ideas for alt colors if Nick gets in. Suggest some better ones if you wish. 1. Rookie Nick - Blue 2. Veteran Nick - Also Blue 3. Rookie Nick - Mia’s color scheme 4. Veteran Nick - Edgeworth’s color scheme 5. Rookie Nick - Apollo’s color scheme 6. Veteran Nick - Gumshoe’s color scheme 7. Rookie Nick - Godot’s color scheme 8. Veteran Nick - Sissel’s color scheme And if Maya a part of the move set like in UMvC3 here's her colors. 1. Young Maya - Purple 2. Adult Maya - Purple 3. Young Maya - Mia’s color scheme 4. Adult Maya - Kay’s color scheme 5. Young Maya - Athena’s color scheme 6. Adult Maya - Maggie’s color scheme 7. Young Maya - Franziska’s color scheme 8. Adult Maya - Lynne’s color scheme And if they want to sell DLC costumes College and Hobo Phoenix will be great.
fuck you, Apollo is a garbage character and not nearly as iconic as Edgeworth
Camden Turner
That's not what japan thinks, and Japan is always #1 Priority
Colton Barnes
I want his trailer to be related to Nintendo saying Joker "stole" the invitation, where Joker is in court and Phoenix saves his ass >How can you prove Joker didn't steal the invitation >Even if he were to steal it, the invitation inside has his name so nobody else can use it >How can you prove that, Joker's invitation is already gone? >I'll show you! Then he takes out his invitation and the name is for him
