Soulless - Soul

It feels a little too "busy". Also, which Romhacks are worth playing?

Any ROMhacks where you play as one of the villain corporations?

Holy soul, love these.

I'm a pleb, which game's assets are these?

Did... Did you just say... KAAAAAAAAAAANTOOOOOOOOOO

Download link??

crystal clear, prism, blazed glazed is ok, if you want largely vanilla experience play drayano's hacks. they streamline a few annoying things like HM's and make many more pokemon available to catch

Can't you fags stay on your containment board? These low budget menu games were the mobile shit of their era and no one besides autists cares

God imagine a world where Gamefreak aren't the most incompetent and lazy devs out there

>diamond and pearl are 12 years old

Remakes soon, old timer.

>Piss filters

Why is nintendo 20 years behind in everything?

Gamefreak is a special kind of incompetent

Cause people will buy anything they make
They could piss in a jar and slap a Mario hat on it and it'd sell

because they make good games and games stopped being good 20 years ago

Unironically too much detail.

that's what sun/moon should have been. team skull was one of the few redeeming aspects of gen 7, but instead of letting them be the stars, ohmori shilled lillie instead.
if i were in charge, i'd have done it like this:
>sm: you start off as a team skull grunt and work your way up to being one of the highest-ranked members of the team by the end of the game.
>usum: you play as a member of the ultra recon squad during the events of sun/moon, splitting time between ultra space and alola while trying to stop the ultra beast invasion. the final boss fight is against your player character from the first game and his/her final team.

Worse than some SNES games and even then still better than anything GF released on GBC, GBA, and DS.

Looks great, too bad it's probably just an animation and not even remotely close to being a playable game.

What a fucking mess, I can barely distinguish the player character, even the person playing it has trouble as it keeps bumping into everything, terrible, it's probably impossible to differentiate one town from another if they are all that busy, simple is better

>if i were in charge
Thank god you're not.

With how disappointing LGPE is as this weird remake along with the changes in ORAS, that sounds like a veiled threat.

literal perfection. i pity the retards that think b/w is better than hg/ss.

Attached: 1554308447074.png (640x500, 72K)

FUCK POKEMON AND FUCK NIGGERS

so do I just play fire red if i wanna play red? i've been thinking about playing it before i start heartgold

Attached: 1554308509023.png (590x463, 23K)

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS

yeah, actually using all the cool characters/ideas that alola wasted to make something different would have been horrible! thank god we got "lillie: the movie: the game" instead.

what the fuck is this shit

It's just art put together by some Spanish guy on twitter, it isn't an actual romhack

stop posting

post your work.

I did exactly this. Played through FR and then HG. Both great games. Shame they both fall off super hard right after the elite 4. Couldn't even bring myself to go through the gen 1 gyms in HG.

No one has ever finished a kanto reimagining

twitter.com/zaebucca

What are these from?

Wish I could make my own monster RPG.

>most lucrative IP of all time
>owned by the laziest developer of all time

Attached: 1558100844072.gif (456x404, 326K)

Fall off how? I was under the impression that Kanto was basically a whole new game in the HG.

Left one is from Pokemon Revolution Online.

>that think b/w is better than hg/ss.
But they are better

It's a full, albeit small, region appended on the end, but everything is underlevelled but simultaneously too high-levelled for you to train a new party up on. You just faceroll through the Kanto segment, especially because with your HMs nothing is gated from you.

What's preventing you from making it?

Kanto remade for a Switch game should look kinda like pic related.
It's crazy that they had the guts to revamp the same old oversimplified top-down Game Boy map in faux-3D for LGPE....

Attached: Pokemon_4ever_2001_Screenshot_0053.jpg (1920x1080, 206K)

Lack of programming knowledge and artistic skill

What does that have to do with what he just said?

Do trees stacked in a zig zag pattern look better than those on a perfect grid?

Attached: d3kdy5g-0f63785e-1ce3-41db-8a05-2cd3f30f6044.png (797x665, 133K)

Practice, those are easily learnable skills.

zigzag might as well be a perfect grid when theres a clump. Completely random order is the best option.

You play it to take a tour through kanto and see how things have changed and go through old memories

Then mt silver beings the challenge back

I don't care about myself enough to improve my situation, user

naw they look like shit.

random is worse

Link to the Past made me prefer zig zagged a lot, but it makes straight edges on the sides of maps look unnatural.

What'd the best monster collecting game? I played Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 (which plays better than Pokemon, but the designs are so much worse on the whole).

If random looks bad and so does zigzag... do you think this is what looks best?

how do i use croagunk in platinum? the only fighting move they learn natively is revenge which fucking sucks, do i just leech seed + raindance to help with how revenge works?

Forgot pic

this is so comfy, thanks user

Hopefully they reimagined the Pokemon as well.

Yes. And players don't play from above.

Grossest pieces of shit I've ever seen.

>literally fucking floating in the reflection
fucking cope holy shit

That looks horrendous what the fuck. Nidorino is the only acceptable mon in that group and even then I prefer what we have.

it's actually the opposite of guts. game freak was afraid to change so much as a pixel of kanto for fear of genwunners' reaction if they did.

oof, they had ONE job and ruined it
sums up gen 5 in a nutshell, almost perfect but not quite HGSS level

Is this supposed to be a "what if gen 1 pokemon where designed today"?

Why am I so mad right now

What would an over the shoulder perspective add to the game?

You know, I really don't hate those Nidoran.

SOUL

it looks better when i squint

>80% of out-of-bounds terrain is covered in trees
>Let's make one sprite and copypaste it
For fuck's sake Game Freak, it would have literally taken you an hour at most to draw another one and add some variety, you absolute fucking hacks.

okay

Oh my god shut the fuck up. He asked for the best reimaginings, not "this reimagining looks better than the original" which it does. There's no replacing the original, I know, but grow up.

is that sprite t-posing?

yeah it's pretty weird

Completely accurate to nu Pokemon.

Good good I hated how 90% of the time i booted up BW it was disgusting Dorito orange or extremely boring bland grey

My problem with BW is that the player sprites look really goofy, alongside sprites in general constantly being stretched and deformed due to camera angle changes.

>over the shoulder perspective

Free camera, you faggot.
The bare minimum for a RPG on console in 2019.

Route 1 doesn't have a gate reeeeeeeeee

yeah there was too much focus on 3D perspectives in gen 5, so the sprites are affected, I'd love a remake that gives it justice

Attached: 6c0f9ffcce695562837ace778473dc0a[1].gif (540x354, 715K)

Why does reddit hate gen 5 so much?

i like it but half the pokedex was a let down, and fuck the genies

>Then mt silver beings the challenge back
That's literally just Red since no Pokemon in Mt. Silver has a level higher than low 50s. And even then, Red has a badly balanced team where half of his roster is weak to Electric in HGSS.

Whoever made this should be executed

these are never coming out right?

Wait a minute, is that...!!

Attached: 291.jpg (1280x720, 171K)

well what a third dimension added to the game?

your character is always the fucking dead center of the screen, not to mention theyre easy as fuck to distinguish. its not great design, but you're an absolute idiot. and this part is my opinion, but the takeaway from that webm should be that pokemon in the overworld make it feel more alive, and like you're actually in a world inhabited by pokemon

Well, what did color add to the game?

I've seen some shitmons before but this leaves me speechless

Attached: 248as.png (207x243, 6K)

Those don't change how you play the game.

This, I was actually really hoping that a Yellow remake would go full-on with the anime elements added to Yellow GB and make it take place in the anime universe version of Kanto. Instead we got a GO tie-in with upscaled Gen 6 graphics. I don't think we'll ever get that chance again.

These are nice, but they don't look like Pokemon to me. Whatever that means, idk.

It's almost like Pokemon is a RPG and not some arcade game...

Which gens are those from? Last pokemon i played was gen 3.

Changing the camera changes the input scheme, though.
Doom with black and white graphics is still Doom (you won't be able to identify cards, goatmen, etc, other than that it's the same).
Doom with 3d models instead of sprites is still Doom.
Doom from a top down camera is a different game.

They are fan made.

kanto and kanto 2 were never good

What are these from?

OMG PARTICLES

How would it detract from the game?

it's the little things

Attached: giphy[1].gif (500x398, 257K)

>black tip on pikachus tail

gosh darnit

Map exploration would change, exploring caves and forests would be harder. Map puzles would disappear.

Say what you want about those Nidoran but they actually match up more with what the concept of them was supposed to be in the first place. They are poison rabbits. By the time it gets to Nido King and Queen they look more like dinosaurs in gen 1. I see an objective improvement on those designs in this picture. Only Sandslash, Clefairy and to a lesser extent Arbok suck.

fixed

Attached: foobar.png (635x472, 49K)

That's because they were supposed to look like dinosaurs, I think.

Attached: Giran_vs_Goku.jpg (640x480, 49K)

Pokemon's gameplay is in a static menu system.

A free camera does not change that.

With how disappointing the original DP were, they can only go up from there
never played platinum so I don't know if they can mess up

platinum is the best game in the whole series

Don't worry bro, I'm making a romhack of emerald that basically redoes alola and team skull ends up not being the bad guys. gladion and lillie switch places too, but not personalities so they both can get some character development

Pokemon fans have no vision. They're just as bad as GameFreak in this regard.

Attached: 1493788273432.jpg (643x400, 120K)

3 and 4, by the looks of them

is there any debate that xy was the blandest, most forgettable dex and world

"If you do something good that leaves people wanting more next time,"
-Masuda

What was it like playing pokemon with these shitty graphics? And in black and white too... what the fuck

that's exactly what it is.

Gamefreak really fucked up with the GBA generation. They had no excuse. The system was 32-bit 3d capable yet they chose a really lazy design. They've aged very poorly and I rarely see anyone going back to them except maybe Fire Red and Leaf Green and all of its romhacks. BUT even fire red and leaf green lacked a whole lot and only gave you the Kanto region. Silver and Gold gave us two fucking regions, abit, they gimped kanto, but at least they put that there which was absolutely legendary to say the least, most games never do this. Gold and silver is basically the Ocarina of Time of Pokemon and can never be matched.

Attached: 1527737169163.png (1024x640, 1.42M)

t. zoomer

The problem is for a little while there Game Freak obviously wasn't sure how to add in more content beyond the gyms and becoming the champion.
>Gen 1
The focus of Kanto's design was to catch all the Pokemon, so the only real post game content was collecting Mewtwo to add it to the Pokedex, as well as net you some really strong Pokemon.
>Gen 2
Gold/Silver was designed around Exploration and World Building. Since it was the first "sequel", the only valid thing that made sense was to have you go back to Kanto. Since a lot of Kanto Pokemon were being reused, there's less focus on the Pokedex and more focus on the world. That's why it feels as big as it does.
>Hoenn
This is when things got rocky. Ruby/Sapphire had a focus on customization, which is why the main post game stuff involve the Secret Bases and the various Battle Tents/Tower. You were also expected to buy the Gamecube games and the Kanto remakes to get the National dex full. Emerald added in the Battle Frontier but really that's just postgame padding.

whats the one on the left from?

I'd also like to make note of the fact that FRLG through in the Sevii Islands with the sole intent to give players access to Johto mons they didn't bother to put in anywhere else. While they're okay, it's still hollow and "dex completion" focused.
>Gen 4
Sinnoh was built similarly to Gen 2 with an "exploration" and "open world" design in mind (even if it's artificial). So, its post game through in some new areas to explore and a bunch of legendaries to collect as a reward. Platinum once again brought back the Battle Frontier, as well as having the Resort Area so it could pull off "best of all worlds." However, the Battle Zone doesn't live up to the hype the entirety of Kanto did, despite having a similar amount of content.
>Gen 5
Unova is strangely designed. Both BW and BW2 are heavily focused on both storytelling and worldbuilding, leaving much of the region unexplored until post game. This ends up making Unova a bit larger than the other regions, despite its linear appearance. Unfortunately GF decided to design a lot of its postgame content on Online functionality which is lost now.
>Gen 6
Kalos is around when GF decided to say fuck it and put all their cards into an online postgame. Kalos has an incredibly low amount of postgame areas to explore, which was on purpose: The real postgame was playing with friends and strangers. That's why the Friend Safari was designed at all. Unfortunately this is still incredibly hollow compared to past regions.
>Gen 7
Alola is built around its worldbuilding and storytelling, leaving about half an island to postgame. It's kind of half Kalos and half Sinnoh in design, which leaves it lacking in both a shitty online presence and shitty offline postgame.
>LGPE
It's pretty clear this game decided to hypercharge Gen 1's design of "Collect them All" and make that basically the only thing to do the entire game. It's the same as Gen 1, but worse.

That is probably not an accident

So yeah, what this boils down to is that Gamefreak was hoping the online community would be able to make up for a lack of a postgame. LGPE don't actually follow this at all to the point where it feels like Online was added at all if only because they had to.
Personally my favorite postgame is BW2 since it has a solid mixture of all of the other postgames with a bunch of optional areas, new lore, legendaries to collect, and tons of different fights you can do on the Subway, in the Tree thing, and through the PWT. BW2 in particular feels like it was designed around its postgame and optional content, rather than phoning it in. I'm sure this is likely because of all the assets they were able to reuse.

For those interested the screenshot on the left is from a Pokemon MMO called Pokemon Revolution Online.

Is it good? Should I play that or PokeMMO?

>tfw I want to make a game that looks like this
>It's too much work to implement 3D just for aesthetic

Attached: Goldenrod_City_HGSS.png (1330x885, 305K)

I remember thinking Starly was the coolest thing ever when I first saw it.

Why didn't game freak keep making the sprite games AND make 3D ones?

How could anyone think Starly was cool?
It's literally just a little grey bird.

Attached: 250px-396Starly[1].png (250x250, 47K)

What is Labo?

Make sprite games for the tiny niche on Yea Forums who likes the aesthetic?
GameFreak can barely keep up as it is.

Or get people to double dip, same people that bought the 3D ones would buy the 2D ones too.

literally soulless

But he looks determined mang.

>Gold and silver is basically the Ocarina of Time of Pokemon and can never be matched.
Lmao Johtofags are WWfag rise levels of delusional. Your shitty Kanto-lite region is ass.

Why people keep posting this shit.
While it looks quite nice the art style looks nothing like Pokémon at all.

>Tori forgot about Beastman
also, which race does Giran belong? Beastman or Majin?

im honestly more reminded of the ranger games if anything

That arbok is looking pretty smug

Thanks, I hate it.

>Gold and silver is basically the Ocarina of Time of Pokemon and can never be matched.
Platinum and Gen 5 surpassed and made it obsolete.

>Pikachu is a mouse pokemon
>looks like a rabbit

Yeah, I'm gonna need you to delet this right now.

>I can barely distinguish the player character

The person moving in the center of the screen?

This only confirms beyond any doubt that modern pokemon designs are absolutely horrible and zoomers get the rope.

Black and White games were good, it's just that Gen V is overall weak, fight me.

Yeah... it's pretty easy to make it look like that when you have 13 times as many pixels to work with...

>overall weak
It’s the series peak for a reason user.

wtf is this furry menace?
