What are you playing?
What's the last game you bought/pirated?
I'm currently going through Stick of Truth. Enjoying it more than I thought I would, honestly.

BASEDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
5OYBOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I was just about to start a switch thread. I've been playing a ton of MHGU (all day every day for the past couple of weeks), and the last game I bought was Blazing Star (from the ACA NEOGEO collection). Anything decent on sale at the moment?
I just randomly got "the software was closed because an error ocurred" message.
Is it a common error?
I'm playing Dark souls for the first time. I just played Bloodborne and Sekiro before
I'M WAITING THE NEXT SMASH DLC ROSTER PREDICTIONS BECAUSE I'M A GOOD BOY
I have:
Zelda BOTW
Mario Cuckodyssey
Mario Kart rehash
Mario Rabbids (played 30 minutes)
Yosh not Wool
Korby
Street Fighter 2 Super Cash Grab
Pokken (fucking buyers remorse hard on this one)
Splatton rehash (played 5 minutes)
Arms (played 5 minutes)
Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu (based)
Pokemon Lets Go Eevee (redpilled)
Smash rehash (tried hard to like it, still didnt liked it)
How well does it run on the switch
>464366069
>464366160
trying too hard
Which game?
Pretty solid so far, 30fps haven't had any drops yet. Took me a while to get used to the joy con controls though
Mario Rabbids is really good, you should give it another chance
Smash
>bought the switch for BotW
>finished after 50h
>500h in mhgu and still going
What a game, hope iceborne is this much fun.
Hm, I haven't had an issues with it. I've experienced it a couple of times with Minecraft after they integrated all the xbox stuff, but smash has been fine. Did it happen during online, or maybe when waking up the system/transitioning between docked and handheld?
on Atmosphere, having issues trying to install nxthemes. background only appears on the user selection screen. despite nxthemes stating 1280*720, it doesnt fill the entire screen. anyone have any ideas?
I agree. I've been doing 12+ hour days on MHGU for the past couple of weeks, it's so fun. Online's active 24h a day too so it's always easy to find rooms.
Dead console
Yeah, I thought it was dead so I finished village before going online. I can't get enough of this game, whih caught me by surprise.
>12 hours gaming a day
get a fucking life you ultra sperg
i brought switch a few months ago
oddysea looked like a shitty super mario sunshine so didnt buy it
brought mario kart 8 and was very fustrated with how i was constantly in 8th place thanks to getting hit by shells and shit, could never consistantly get first place, so i'm very angry with that purchase
didnt like how botw is open world so avoid
picked up night in the woods and loved it
picked up valhalla and got fustrated with the shitty writing and tedious childish bartendering minigame, dropped it pretty quick
picked up hollow knight and loved it a lot
now looking for something new
anyone have any reccomendations? I dont want to touch smash because i never play it before and i imagine everone will BTFO me because of how experienced they will all be
pic unrelated
During online, after a couple of hours of gameplay. Restarted and everything worked just fine, but two days ago i got a "Game Card could not be read issue" with Splatoon 2, just once. I really wish nothing is wrong with my game card reader :|
this is my life, i have nothing else
Give MHGU a chance.
thanks but i cant fucking stand dumb anime shit like that, im sure its a good game though thanks for the rec
playing this after hearing it was loosely based on Roadside Picnic. Nice little atmospheric indie.
It's no more anime than BOTW. You can ignore the flashy hunter arts and play hammer or lance.
Try harder faggot
>Complains about anime on fucking Yea Forums
Neck yourself and go back
Pirated Street Fighter 30th anniversary two days ago because I want to git gud at fighting games, but I still can't throw a consistent DP to save my life
Also, who's the fucking genius who came up with the idea of having a move that requires a full stick turn to execute IN A GAME WHERE PRESSING UP MAKES YOU JUMP?
>background only appears on the user selection screen
Did you assign a background to each separate menu? You can't just select one to get the whole theme working, you have to do it for all of them individually.
>despite nxthemes stating 1280*720, it doesnt fill the entire screen
I'm not sure what you mean, are you trying to make your own theme? How about downloading an existing working one and pasting your picture over it?
Why haven't you hacked your Switch yet?
I have this path on every drop menu box. Do I need one theme per menu item?
I regularly play online and I can afford games.
Goddamn it im fucking retarded.
Unzip ReleaseVx.x.zip to somewhere on your pc's drive.
Open up the SwitchThemes.exe app. Navigate to NXTheme Builder.
Select a Home menu part, A 720p image and a Layout patch. Click on Build NXTheme after selecting your home menu part, image and layout patch.
Fill out the details in the window that pops up. After filling out this window and clicking ok, you will get asked where to save the NXTheme file. Save this file to a temporary folder.
>Repeat step 3 and 4 for every Home Menu part of the Switch you want to modify.
this but unironically
hacked the shit out of my wii u though
How well does Dreamcast run on there?
Both my 3DS and vita have CFW, but it's not worth losing MHGU and splatoon online. Vita is a lighter, more comfortable emulation machine anyway.
Same , I thought I would not like MHUG but I am diggin it so far
But I did, it legit makes the switch go from ok to top tier console.
If the switch mini is as easily hackable and performs similarly, it might just become the best handheld console on the market in my opinion.
Glad to see it worked out. Care to share your work?
Don't knock it till you try it, there's way more to it than just pirated games. If you don't wanna lose online, I suggest waiting a few weeks for emunand.
Not him, but the few games I tried ran at full speed (Crazy Taxi, Power Stone, Jet Set Radio)
>If you don't wanna lose online, I suggest waiting a few weeks for emunand
Lol
This is ScrotuM we're talking about, I'd be surprised if he gets it done by next year.
I wasn't knocking it though, I just want to continue playing online without any risk of losing it. There's no risk with the wii u since it's dead as shit and nintendo can't catch you doing it unless you're a complete retard - I can still play online whilst pirating anything and everything directly from the eshop servers.
I'm playing the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WHY WON'T THESE FUCKING STICKS STOP DRIFTING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH game.
Does anyone play SF online? I bought the PC version at launch and its deader than dead
Because I am afraid I will brick it
Just a simple background.
It's near impossible to brick it. I fucked up by being stupid like 3 times and had no issues.
Does it still require buying that 3rd party tool or is there a poorfag method yet?
Its a $5 tool, user...
Playing Crystal Crisis. Good puzzle game, but I hope they patch it to decrease the load times. It's probably the 3D backgrounds that's the issue. It seems they're at least going to add pattern references during matches though.
After the most recent update to Sma5h, I'm allowed to have fun online again playing Lucario.
I have almost every first party game with a few exceptions. Only finished botw and have some hours on most of the rest. Finished persona 5 yesterday, maybe I should finish mario odyssey before maker2 or dragon quest 11 comes out
ok , what are the perks? I see a custom wall paper which kinda appeals to me
Loved lance in world, hate striker charge spam so went back to hammer. Valor is really fun and mobile
>12+ hour days
>for the past couple of weeks
i hope you're not an adult, you useless piece of shit
>user getting shit on by Yea Forumstards for playing 12 hours a day
this site sure has changed
Modding games, ability to modify saves as you want. backing up your physical copies if you feel pirating is immoral
We make fun cause we care. 12 hours a day on video games aint good.
The poorfag method came out before the chink dongle shit, so yeah.
guide.sdsetup.com
Guide above mentions a jig, but you can just use a paperclip.
So basically, what you want to do is bend the paperclip so that both ends of it touch the right joycon rail's 1 and 10 pads.
M4xw posted some progress video last month where he showed he could get it to boot to the menu, and the guy produces pretty consistent quality work, so I'm fairly optimistic.
I see, then yes the switch isn't quite up to that level of safety yet. Keep an eye on it though, things are evolving pretty quickly.
I wouldn't know, I only used offline training mode. I would guess not though, since the switch version probably sold less copies. It must be pretty dead by now.
It's honestly pretty foolproof. You can make a backup of the full system the first time you hack it in case you need to restore it later.
There is, all you need to buy now is an SD card to put your games and programs on (and an USB-C cable, if you don't already have one)
Pirated games, emulators for everything up to the gamecube, FTP access, web browser, custom servers, custom themes, save backups and editors, overclocking, PC ports, the ability to use non-nintendo controllers... Honestly, it's pretty worth it
I find bending a paperclip to be kind of unreliable. You're never quite sure you're touching the right pins. Usually I just stick the paperclip end between the 9th and 10th pin and it works everytime, it's much easier.
I like the idea of the switch but I don't think it was executed very well. Big issues are screen quality, how uncomfortable/heavy it is in portable mode, the poor battery life and near complete lack of support from Nintendo the last two years.
It's really nice being able to play FFXII in bed or on my lunch break, but it's just really mediocre as a portable. It either needs to be slightly smaller or at least make the joycons not chit and give me a proper dpad for the slew of 2d indie games that make up the bulk of it's library
FF9. My third time trying this game. Switch in bed is all I needed to keep motivated. This game is a lot of fun when I can pick it up easily
12 hours isn't too crazy. I still meet up with friends and go outside. What else am I supposed to do?
Is MHGU online active or dead?
It's one of the most active games on switch, just behind smash/mk8/splatoon. Always easy to find rooms at any time of day.
What games can I get for under $40 ameribucks that you recommend, that's not an indie?
Nice. Might pick it up. Wasn't sure if it would be dead in West due to mhw and Nintendo charging for online now
>Keep an eye on it though
I will, but sadly I can't see myself doing it unless I either
>acquire a second switch for cheap/free somehow
or
>wait long enough that switch is near the end of its life so I'd have nothing to lose or miss out on
as it seems too unlikely to ever be as safe as hacking a wii u - even long before the switch released, wii u's were a safe bet to hack as nintendo's online security and authentication surrounding them was so fucked. You don't have that same safety net as a hacker of switch systems as nintendo wised up at least a bit since.
If you're new to the series check out gaijinhunter's videos on youtube. He has pretty solid summaries of the different weapons and mechanics. There's a near-endless amount of content in GU and it can be intimidating for a new player. If you do end up getting it, we can try some Yea Forums lobbies if you post here.
Been playing Dragon's was hoping PC mods would work, but it looks like they rewrote the files for switch. They're named slightly differently, but no one on gbatemp can get them to work
Its pretty bad
I forgot nobody on Yea Forums actually plays games. My bad.
MHGU easily
Monster Hunter or Mario + Rabbids.
still worth if you've never played it before?
Im just saying focus your energy on something more productive. Enjoy video games but branch out a bit.
Technically not AAA games, but Hollow Knight, Travis Strikes Back and Darkest Dungeon are pretty high quality for a bunch of indie titles.
Sounds like what you need is emunand. If you don't know, it's basically a way to run a custom OS from a SD card, as opposed to from the console itself (which is how they can detect you right now). Theoretically, once emunand comes out and as long as you keep it offline, there'll be no risk of getting yourself banned (as Nintendo can't detect the method used to actually activate it)
What if I have 0 energy and no motivation to do other things
finally found a wallpaper i like
I haven't played it before and I'm having a blast. It's pretty dark, so definitely better on a big screen since the switch has a pretty meh lcd. But it runs great and it even uses the touchscreen.
>as long as you keep it offline
I want to pirate online games as well, much like you can with wii u without any risk at all.
Playing FF7 and Okami right now.
I bought TSA recently, I like it. Although I feel like it's not a play for hours game, you gotta start and stop it a lot. I also bought Fitness Boxing and I love it. Although I wish I had bought it digitally so I could play daily without having to worry about cart swapping.
Jumping into VC and playing some multiplayer MH is an easy way to catch up with friends in other countries or who live too far to drive to regularly. I play instruments and program too, it's cool.
got thunder force 4 on the e shop, it’s fun but geez it’s hard, well granted I’m just not good at shmups.
Reminds me of katana zero. Couldn’t play it in one sitting. Ended up playing it in bursts. You recommend it thiugh?
It's fun, but I also paid 20 bucks for it so I'm not expecting as much returns on my dollar as if I had paid full price for it.
I've found a lot of the games I've picked up recently are pick up and play for a short time over a long period instead of long sittings. Whether that's on me getting older or games lacking engagement.
Well, you can pirate games online using the /hbg/shop, but playing pirated online games? I doubt this'll ever be possible, even in many years when the switch is abandoned, as you'd still need to go through the Nintendo servers to play them.
I still think it'd be a shame to miss out on all the good stuff a hacked switch can bring you just because of a few incompatible games. Plus, I should point out there's still a lot of games you can play online using custom servers: docs.google.com
i bought hollow knight yesterday and then picked up splatoon 2 in the evening and played that all night. having a lot of fun online :)
>but playing pirated online games? I doubt this'll ever be possible, even in many years when the switch is abandoned, as you'd still need to go through the Nintendo servers to play them.
yeah I know, that's why I said I probably won't do it unless I somehow obtain another switch or if I stop caring about playing online. I already know about custom servers but they're not my thing, they're too quiet for the area I live in to really be viable for me.
Still, I will keep an eye on the switch piracy/hacking scene and I still might hack it at some point and just toggle between hacked offline and legit online so I can play everything I want to.
Also, I forgot to mention, but one of the advantages of emunand is that you can choose to run either it or the stock OS at launch, meaning you'd at least still have access to your legit games with Nintendo online.
I'm replacing the buckle lock on my Joy-con tomorrow when the replacement comes. I've had this fucking thing for 2 years and finally had one bad drop. Any other anons do this repair? It's supposedly really easy, but I always get anxious whenever I need to open up electronics..
Shit, guess I clicked reply a bit too fast.
Anyways, I totally get why you'd still wouldn't want to go through with it. In the end, even though it's pretty useful all in all it's definitely not as easy to setup or maintain as earlier Nintendo consoles.
what else do you suggest
ye wii u was piss easy to hack, 3DS also
Nice physical okami, I did the same and got mine imported from Japan
I'm having a blast with the 3rd Psikyo collection even though I suck at it. Can barely make it to stage 3 with 2 credits, but I'm convinced to pick up the other two collections as well. Lots of personality in these games, and the mecha designs kick ass. The girls are all God tier on top of all that.
How's Nuclear Throne with joycons?
what's that from?
Katana zero
have sex
Reposting this. Got 700 bucks from b-day today and I wanna spend it on switch, games, and its peripherals
Guide me cause I never owned a Nintendo console
When do you guys think Chocobo MD Everybuddy will go on sale ? This month sometime? I need something to fill the PMD void ;_;
Buy a hooker and some choice gear, live life you facking geezer.
Yeah it’s pretty easy
I was scared to but honestly you have to be actively sabotaging yourself to mess it up
I'm waiting on emulation performance to improve and for someone to notice that the source code for THUG2 got leaked years ago and port that shit
I'll probably end up buying the revision console and I'll hack the OG model since it doesn't matter what version the OS is on.
Should I get SXOS or are the free alternatives just as good? I've read SXOS has emunand, do the free alternatives have it as well?
Get the switch preferably the Blue-Red a glass screen protector, no smaller than a 128 gig SD card and a cheap carrying case.
The current Must own games are BOTW, SMO, MK8 DX, MHGU and Smash ultimate so almost 300$ worth of games
My personal recommendation is
WorkTunes Bluetooth head phones and an Avantree USB Bluetooth both can be found on amazon for damn good Bluetooth audio.
Lastly if you play handheld mode you’ll want a Satiseye Switch grip case
For multiplayer
Get the fast Snail Joycon grips
For a couple pieces of cheap plastic they’re 10/10 in comfort and utility
Overall that’s the best Switch starter kit
thanks buddy
>Blue-Red
Fuck off homo. Grey is for Chads
>caring about colors
grey joycons and satisfye grip is the best
