I wouldn't call it dreadful (aside from the first 2 hours), but the game definitely does pick up after the first dungeon, so stick with it even if it doesn't initially impress you.

I liked Twilight Princess a lot also, I don't understand the bad reputation beyond "DUDE ZELDA BUT EDGY" which is paper-thin. Personally it's my favorite.

It's pretty good actually. I don't really count ALBW when I say TP is the last good Zelda because it's basically a remake of an old Zelda that predates TP.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Zelda should not be cel shaded. I don't have a problem with cel shading in general but for a game like Zelda I greatly prefer a realistic style. I'm still mad this never came to be on the Wii U and we got BOTW instead

A crap lengthy opening, but which is more tolerable the first time around since it's fresh at least. Then a game with an overrated sidekick and a plot that fucknoses off the deep-end right when it's getting good, plus a dissociative art-style and obnoxious levels of bloom-n-brown, giving you that real authentic 2006 generic shit vibe.

BUT, the dungeons and enemies are fucking cracking. So enjoy what may be the best "raw 3D Zelda-formula dungeons, enemies, combat and action" game ever.

Wind Waker is dog shit. The game is easy even for a Zelda game and there are literally only two parts where you are presented with any kind of danger. It trivializes the sense of adventure and the game is a joke, I've played through it twice and both times it was a slog because it's essentially a theme park game with no real reason to do anything.
And of course redditors loved it because it was the least popular of all mainline Zelda games since 2 and it's inoffensive garbage they can chalk every criticism of up to "it's a kids game moron".

A pretty fun, in depth adventure game that totalyl loses proper pacing at the end where you rush through dungeons, slow down to find random things with a special control rod power, and then rush through a courtyard and ganon fights.

I'm playing through windwaker right now on my PC, it's my first playthrough and it's been a really tedious experience so far

Wind Waker completely turned me off with just the graphics & the sea stuff. I don't want to spend time on a boat or watch the ocean.

The NV is the only close call of an unfinished game that is the peak of its series and even then it’s contested. WW, is not the pinnacle of Zelda.

Honestly no real complaints other than how easy it is, all the dungeons feel totally distinct and there's a lot of them.

I've played start to finish seven times.

I actually really liked the tears of light, along with its Skyward Sword variant, the Silent Realm. I wish that style of gameplay would return in future Zeldas

HD is the best then gamecube version. I played the GC version on Dolphin and it's fine

Wind Waker got the soul and atmosphere right, but nothing else. Gameplay, world design, and dungeon design are all at some of their weakest in the series. I like the idea of Wind Waker, and what it could have been, but it just wasn't executed well at all.

I liked it, but the art style wasn’t for me.

Wii U version is by far the best. See if you can borrow a Wii U from a friend. Mine mostly collects dust and I'd gladly lend it to a friend. If that's not an option then emulating the GC version in Dolphin would probably be the next best thing.

Your first playthough will likely be better than any subsequent playthroughs, everything is dull and boring the 2nd time around and unlike other Zelda's it never really feels like you stumble across anything new
