Any tips for a beginner or is it just a matter of gittin gud? Marine seems like easy mode but even then I can only get to the third floor consistently. Also, how do the secret walls work?

Secret walls can be found by using blanks near them. You can use non starter weapons to reveal cracks in a wall (the spot of the secret) and then just blank
How do you ascertain where maybe a secret wall might be
To add on that, blanks can be used anywhere in the same room. Also, secret rooms tend to be connected to chest rooms, shops (dont shoot in the main shop though) and other special rooms
dead end rooms, chest rooms, shop, elevator room after boss
>Any tips for a beginner
Play actually fun games like Nuclear Throne, Monolith, Wizard of Legend or Risk of Rain. Don't waste time with this garbage.
Shit. Didn't even think about using a blank. Thank you.
I've been playing this a bit lately but I've never bothered to look up how to get into those rooms. Thanks!
>Marine seems like easy mode but even then I can only get to the third floor consistently
That’s pretty normal for new players. Just focus on finding NPCs and unlocking weapons
Uh some dude that invested 100+ hours of his life into this boring ass game is gonna be seething
ah yes the 2 nuclear throne fags shitting up another thread, get a life
Keep playing and keep playing and keep playing. Losing the occasional life on a floor is fine, they are chaotic enough that it happens. You want to get good enough to kill bosses without taking a hit. Master Rounds get you more life which makes later bosses easier (by giving you an extra heart container).
Keep beating bosses and always find a way to free prisoners you find on floors. That way you can buy more weapons in the breach that will make the game that much easier.
Also, dodge roll more. You are invincible for nearly all of the animation. Dodge roll whenever you think you might even kind of take a hit, it is worth it.
Oh and actually use your blanks. They refill every floor. Why are you saving them?
It’s probably the same guy replying to himself
>dodge roll more
Worse fucking advice. Learn to move around bullets, rolling will get you hit more than it wont.
anyone finds beholster the hardest boss to flawless on 2nd floor? every says it's ammoconda
Do both. Learn to move around bullets, don't be an idiot and take a shot that you can dodge roll.
>Oh and actually use your blanks. They refill every floor. Why are you saving them?
I have a hard time breaking that, "oh, I'll need that later" mentality. I tend not to even use a new gun until I get to a boss. Maybe a test shot to see how it works but that's it. Appreciate the info.
Beholster is an easy pattern. He doesn't move, and he just fans bullets or does a laser. Honestly his adds are more of a problem than his bullet pattern. Ammoconda moves around so much that he is harder to predict, that's why people hate it.
>Dodge roll more
Dodge roll more, but not too much. It's always important to note that dodge rolling leaves your vulnerable in the second half, so if you can dodge a bullet without rolling, do so. If you think you cant, absolutely do roll though (just dont roll away from the bullets, roll through them if possible)
>tfw you get a wall mimic in the beholster fight
this
playing the game like a bullet hell and grazing shots is the right way to play. save rolling for the obvious "roll now" attacks
yes the add is the problem for me, been betting better at the fight tho, the moment the add appears I just try to kill it
Remember when nobody cared about gungeon here until an eceleb played it a year later?
That opening song though
youtube.com
People started caring when it updated and added synergies and new content
Exact same situation. Marine, cant get past 3rd floor. Gave up for the last couple weeks, gotta get back to it.
Also, if you have trouble getting rid of the rockets, use a fast shooting weapon to get rid of them (beam weapons and similar are perfect)
3rd floor bosses are pretty hard, except for the tank, the floor itself is pretty tame, the biggest jump in difficulty is imo 3rd to 4th
how big of a casual faggot am I if I finally killed my first past (marine) 125 hours into the game?
love this game though I want to unlock everything! what are games like this I should pirate?
oh yeah the rockets can be annoying too, this fight gets very fun and easy with the ibomb companion which I've been weirdly getting a lot recently
isaac, nuclear throne and gungeon are the biggest 3 I think
Not a bad game by any means but fuck are the devs retarded for not realizing how anti item their design choices in total make the game.
For a game that is so obviously in Binding of Issacs footsteps they missed the majority of lessons to be learned from that game and so I take every opportunity to tell them what morons they are
So your health. Say you're maxed it gives you the option to save a piece for later. Does that actually do anything or should I just leave them until I actually need it? I know that little jew will steal ammo and guns but I don't believe he messes with health.
4th floor bosses are way easier in my opinion besides high priest. The wall is simple and the 4 pillars can be cheesed easily if you have any weapon that can shoot fast or penetrate multiple targets
Some boss tips for the Wallmonger.
Roll through the 4 bullet thick walls he spits out.
Be conservative with dodge rolls and just walk through gaps in his bullets.
If you have a way to teleport behind him then he becomes stupid easy
Saved health will be sent to that floor’s shop or boss elevator room
the red machine in the shop or at the end of the floor is an hp dispenser
Save for later was added as a QoL feature so you dont have to teleport around the whole floor to pick up health you left lying around
So that's how that thing works. Neat.
yeah but I think the floor itself gets much harder
Die Juden didn't used to mess with it so I assume he leaves it alone
4th floor bosses arenr very hard if you know their patterns, but theyre some major dickheads if you dont
Play that chick with the dog. Use crossbow whenever you start a room. If the shot lands, then you got a really good start to the room. You’re dog even sometimes finds stuff for you which can get you really snowballing throughout the game.
I like both, they're fun :3
Don't dodge roll unless you absolutely have to.
Using your weapon select screen to slow time can be handy in boss fights to get an overview of what's happening.
Save blanks for boss fights unless you're close to dying.
Consider restarting your run if you don't perfect the first boss for the extra health.
.
She's my second favorite character so far but the lack of armor at start kills it for me. Do like the reload animation with her pistol though.
These are some good tips, although the last one might be not so good for a beginner as restarting makes them less acquainted with the later chambers
The game is tough as shit at first, it takes a lot of memorization and in the process of that gaining reflexes and skills. You need to know which weapons are good for what, for example the Slingshot is a shitty terrible weapon... but it does massive damage against bosses as a biblical reference, so you need to remember that. You'll need to know enemy patterns, what each enemy is capable of, which enemies you should run from, which you need to dodge from, which you just want to kill quickly, ect.
>Consider restarting your run if you don't perfect the first boss for the extra health.
As in you get an additional health canister? Like instead of 3 you'd have 4?
If you beat a floor boss without taking damage you get a master round which permanently increases your health
Perfecting bosses gives you an HP up item (+1 canister)
yes if you perfect a boss you get a master round which gives you extra hp container, don't recommend restarting if you dont flawless, that's kinda like smashing R in isaac if you don't get a broken item, ruins the fun in the long run
>Magnificence
Why the game insists on being such an unfunny piece of shit?
Calories, mate.
(not cheated)
I don't even know what that means. 'anti-item'?
>tfw you get duct tape
I've heard he deals damage behind him now.
Good to know. Now this only applies to the boss fight or the entire floor?
the fuck? how
Boss fight only
Boss fight.
He’s probably lying, but it had to be clone
Knight's gun, lol.
Only bosses. But listen to this guy While learning the ropes and not being anywhere close to getting to the end, it's better just to play naturally.
Once you start getting better, I'd recommend restarting depending on how badly you want to win (you shouldn't need more than 1 or 2 extra chambers though). I know that if I don't get that first extra health and keep going, I'll probably just end up dying on floor 5 unless I get some good drops.
I was constantly digging with the knights gun, note how the run is 3 hours long (Clone was involved too though)
clone runs + Robo Junken, yeah that will cause some insanity.
I've still yet to get robo junkan, my gold junk luck is abysmal.
Don't worry I learned early on to just play until I die. The few times I was tempted to restart I would get either more armor or health the next few rooms. Just gives me more reason to get better at dodging instead of eating a bullet or two cause I know I'll get health anyways. Fuck the two bullet boss though. I always manage to take a hit right after enraging one of them.
>Finally unlocked Gunslinger
It feels like you're just cheating at that point. Granted it seems the game tries to balance this by giving you mostly D and C tier weapons
I used to get him every run, I guess they nerfed his drop rate and I haven’t gotten him since vanilla
>Die a few times between first acquiring the past bullet and actually killing my first past
>Make it through with another character and only get the "fake" ending without going to the past
>Didn't realize I had to go pick up another bullet from floor 5 which I had gotten used to not doing
Well that was annoying.
Gunslinger really seems like the "go on, break the game, you earned it" character.
Play a better game
