The most times you repeatedly held East, either via winning or ending in a draw in tenpai.

Renchan/bonus dealer turns.

So if the dealer ends in draw in tenpai, the round repeats, but if he does not, the round advances.

I've never played Mahjong, do the Yakuza games ever FORCE you to learn it? I don't remember having to play in Yakuza 1, I'm working my way through 2.

And it's relatively easy early money and Completion points if you know hat you are doing, plus a substory in Kiwami 2.

For shogi all you have to do is Challenge #1 which is piss easy even if you don't know the rules. 30 rons or tsumos was pretty shitty though.

I have actually been performing much better ever since I have been focusing on a 'gather pairs' strategy.
You have a chance to expand it to all triplets, it can lead to half flush/prevalent wind/dragon yaku relatively often, and tiles you hoard while they end up discarding end up being quite safe to drop if the hand ends up busting.
And it ends up being quite fast.

It helps that the opponents in silver room at least tend to be far less cautious of you when you have 1 call or 2 then when you drop a riichi.

Granted, this strategy worked for me to finally gain Adept levels and it's probably not optimal mahjong.

2 HD requires it for the platinum because you need to win a game of it and shogi for a trophy.
3 HD requires it for the platinum and a Haruka requirement.
4 requires it for the platinum.
Dead Souls requires it for the platinum.

I'm not new to the game or mahjong though. It's taken me less than 30 East or 15 South each time.
That's partly the reason I started a new one after getting hit with a wave of bad luck in Adept 3. It actually helps quite a bit. Main reason was to reroll the new characters which I did so I'm not moving now since I got them. Looks like my atrocious luck followed me once more. I'm not playing South until it's over at least.

Yup, that's one of the worst feels. *Maybe* you can get a feel for what they're waiting for, but dealing live tiles late in the game is a huge gamble. Best case scenario, they might still pon you.
I rarely have the discipline to fold because of live tiles so it often fucks me up.

I understand the triplets and one pair rule but somehow that's not enough for a scoring hand.

Don't worry about the names. Just study a yaku chart for a while and get a grasp of the more common ones. You'll likely not get close to the more complicated ones anyway. Chiitoitsu is so fucking good. It's easy as fuck and often leads into other yaku if you start feeling pressured. It's also impossible for people to guess your opens. It's very easy to work with too, since all the pairs you don't have, all you aim for are tiles that haven't been played yet

I know 7 pairs is a meme yaku but I just can't keep going for it.

Yakuza 3 and 4 have a remaster on PS4 which is JP only at the moment. 5 also has one coming but I can only assume those will come to the west eventually with a PS4/PC release.

There's a PS3 emulator that's been developed for a bit now, though I'm not sure if it handles the Yakuza games well enough yet. Kiwami 3 should be out next year, I'd imagine, if not later this year.

They've got HD remasters on the PS4 but 5 is only coming out this month in Japan so wait until E3 to see if they announce localizations at all since their entire purpose is for the western market, not for the Japanese market.

The emulator is more for Kenzan right now because the guys developing the emulator personally know the guys behind the Kenzan fan translation patch and it's basically an example of it working. The Yakuza games work but apparently not too well and they tend to crash a lot.

Yep, you play as Musashi in it but the gameplay is the first PS3 game in the series so it's got lots of small problems scattered about and there's a ridiculous amount of missables. Loved the story though, and Gion is one of my favorite maps in the series.

I was 100 atk for the first 15 games maybe, nowadays im around 60. It might be because it's an average and if you get one big hand when the pool of hands your account has had the average is boosted a lot more because there are so few games.
