Great setting hidered by short story, mediocre gameplay(has some good stuff though) and some(emphasis) stupid writing from time to time.Does indeed give some room for diffrent shades of evil. You can throw strong women from top of a giant tower if you're into that sort of thing.

I enjoyed it but the end feels rushed and unfinished with the concept not really properly explored.

Tyranny would be pretty good if it was a visual novel. Unfortunately it's bogged down by really boring combat that takes too long and happens too often. I recommend playing easy or even cheating to speed up the battles and get to the point as fast as possible.

What's with all the CRPG threads recently? Also Tyranny is the epitome of wasted potential.

This. Game is a great setting and theme ruined by dragging combat. OP if you can get over yourself by cheating and giving your character buffed stats to do away with the slog, then you'll enjoy it for what it is much better.

Lots of noticeable cut content (that seems to have been taken and put in DLC)

and a lot of great ideas that never really realise their potential

Better than Pillars, but kinda half-baked. Like every game where ~you play as the villain~ it doesn't really deliver on that, and for most of the game you're basically doing good things for nominally evil reasons. And of course, when it starts to get interesting, the story just ends.
