Nioh

After playing the Nioh 2 demo I bought Nioh 1 for the PS4, download is finished in a few minutes.

Any tips for William's game? I heard I shouldn't bother about builds and shit for the first 60 levels, is that true? Which weapon type is the easiest tho?

Bump

Use all of the weapons. All of them, you baka. They're all fun and they all have something going for them.

>is that true?
Yeah. Until green shit starts dropping, just don't bother.

>Which weapon type is the easiest tho?
Spear against humans. Chain and sickle in general. But really, the trite but true answer is that you should find the weapon you enjoy and it will automatically become the best and easiest to use. I mained Odachi for the most part.

Save points up for your spirit animal and unlock its passive powers.
Remember to block and wonder how the fuck this game is 70 GB.

Ah fuck i still haven’t beaten nioh 1 yet. I got it late because I lacked a strong enough computer. Anyway I’d suggest odachi and duel katana. Odachi for most things and the duel katanas for fast bosses

You use basic bitch Katana for weapon 1. For weapon 2 it's either axe if you are a manly dude with hair on your chest or Odachi if you are a little faggot.
You could also equip ranged weapons, but don't do that. They are for pussies and you don't want to be a pussy, right?

well fuck, if you put it that way, no way I'm a pussy

why is there so much cheap shit in this game?

What do you mean?

Just use whatever you want until NG+, NG++ is when you need coordinate your shit to get anything done though and beyond that it gets harder but more broken builds become available to make it a bit easier at a certain point.
But definitely playthrough until at least NG++ I felt it got a lot more fun and difficult by then

People say that in response to others overreacting about the RPG stuff, that generally the equipment you find is strong enough that if you don't want to mess with forging or reforging for particular fun effects or sets you don't have to. Play the tutorial, use the Help option in all menus, read the shit that's onscreen and go through Options as there's a few things you'll want to turn on. You can use any weapon, though Odachi and Kusarigama have historically instilled bad habits in new players who don't practice Ki Pulse and stance usage the very moment it becomes available. If you really want the best experience use wooden weapons but unless you cheat them in you only get 1kat for the first half of the game. Test, experiment with and use all of your options, including ranged weapons, ignore that guy as they're important even in combat.

>PS4
Why user? Just... why?

levels doesn't matter, just don't worry about builds till ng+, since any gear and shit you get from ng will be irrelevant.

Pick Kato for spirit guardian, learn how to keep pulse while changing stances. you want to play ng as skillfully as possible before your playstyle becomes braindead with builds for the remainder of your time in post-game (ng+, and beyond)

don't use onmyo or ninjutsu if you don't want to ruin the fun

Tachibana

>Koei tecmo
>PC
Shit ports as always

>suggesting picking braindead ungadog spirit when asking him to learn the game
Some are stupid and unfun but there's a lot of great ones in there. Which reminds me for OP: Divination talismans and Catwalking scrolls make a lot of things a hell of a lot smoother.

Spear is retarded. Like what the fuck, why can it knock down enemy humans and bosses so fucking easily, I feel like a cheater using it.
Also how should I level up my stats? I main Spear/Katana. Is it worth to invest point or magic/ninjutsu to unlock more skills?

Raikiri confirmed for sexiest Katana in the game.

Nioh port is a masterpiece compared to actual utter shit ports like Nier

Tachibana is completely fair you just got noob filtered, use the big rock to the left the arena to lame him out if you need it

Spearfall is pretty silly though replacing Piercing Rain (also a fairer move) is a hard sell especially with Chidori. Every weapon has tons of options though, and since they shit out damage by default everything feels that strong. Look at the weapons themselves, they tell you the three stats they scale with. Gear level and effects give much more damage in the long run however so don't feel you have to be trapped by your stats. Ninjutsu and Onmyo varies from very useful to broken and antifun, in other words it's very worth investing in (to at least 30) but be careful what you stick with. The locks incentivize using a bit of everything though.

Actually, what IS the reason it's so big?
The fmvs don't even make up 4gigs (okay, they don't have any sound) and one of those archive files is over 35.

>tfw chain and tonfa

The only thing of his that I felt was anywhere near BS was his sprinting tiger draw attack, for the life of me I could not figure out any solution to that than just make sure he's always near the edge and when he goes for it, run the hell away. Whenever I tried to dodge it, it would always connect and gib me.

Otherwise he's a fun boss.

Tonfas feel kinda weak, though I really wanna like them. They are great for bullying humans, but against nonhumans they feel really underwhelming.

Strong Japanese code folded over 1000 times.

Use Odachi
face roll
win

same strategy works in nioh 2
Odachi is a zero skill weapon that dominates the entire game

>1H Katana for *unzip*
>Axe for chopping through guard like butter

A tip for tonfas is to used your ki draining moves like the jump attack or the upper cut to drain a yoki's ki then got ham on them while they can't fight back
Also uses high stance to break horns and lean yokai weaknesses

Select Spear
Trip
Select Odachi
Final Blow

Repeat until Dead

They take some getting used to, but the sheer speed of their attacks with their mobility and Ki damage means that even if you don't get big numbers, they can't do a thing as you combo the hell out of them without ever letting up. Low strong is the best horn buster around.

When you aren't quite used to the timing, rolling (in high stance) can work a lot better for dodging big single attacks.

>Play Nioh for the first time
>"This is pretty fun, and challenging"
>Get to boss
>I'm doing 0.01μm of damage to it
>It's kills me in 2 hits
>"I must be missing some gimmick to this boss, lets just summon to see what I am missing".
>Guy explodes into magic and 1HKOs the boss

What.
I just got to the 2nd boss and it's the same shit. I don't want to summon but it feels like I am missing something major here.

What boss, user

maybe try a different weapon? get out of low stance?

just use the katana
don't listen to other retards

The one I summoned for was on a ship, in a tiny room, and the geezer had a ball on a stick.
The one I'm stuck on now, is a woman with wings and a tail.

I've only been playing in the Triangle stance. It seems to be the only stance that can hit those fuckers that fall on the floor.

The first boss I assume
Have you been leveling up your stats? If you are investing in ninjutsu or magic, make sure to learn and equip the items/spells that you get from them and use them.

And use talismans. One thing to learn early, especially if you build towards magic, is try to have 2 elements easily accessible. Have your guardians spirit be one element, use the summon spirit spell to apply the element to the boss (easier said than done with some spirits), then apply a different element to your weapon and go to town til it's applied.

This will UTTERLY cripple demons, as it'll keep them stuck at zero stamina for a period of time, which means they have zero stagger resistence so as long as you can keep up pressure, they can't do jack shit.

'Hitzones' matter in this game
Most demons have big glowing horns you wanna smack right in the noggin

That's why people tend to recommend Odachi as a boss killer for new players (next to Spear)
You can very easily smack oni's faces with overhead swings

Don't stick with just one stance, especially heavy since it's dodge is very slow.

Also for the second boss, make sure to have anti-paralyze needles on your hotbar, so if you get paralyzed, just use it before the boss attacks you.

Also low stance is extremely useful on her. Basically you'll want to be able to sidestep away from any projectiles she throws and from her attacks on the ground before moving in for the attack. But play more defensively until you learn her patterns.

Forced diversity garbage. Most Samurai were Japanese.

The gimmick is you're supposed to be sure of yourself, stay persistent, consistent and not give up. You failed that. Onryoki is about teaching you to use Ki Pulse and stance switching to stay on top and maximize your damage while still staying safe. Hino Enma is about using them with your defensive, ranged and mobility options to keep up with and outpace her while still being able to attack.

haha

shit bait

Reminder that Paired Raiken is easily as good as Kato if you make use of its guardian attack.

Play around with the different weapons as you progress. There's no point in worrying about the autistic loot grinding unless you want to go into NG+ or something but you don't even have to do that to get the Platinum.

Alpha player for Nioh 2 here. I want to mention some things I found. First, when you have a corrupted weapon and the sentience guage fills up, you gain a buff, your weapon sometimes speaks, and your strong attacks emit energy waves on their last hit. Second, you can ki pulse your yokai force gauge only when your in a dark yokai area and your horns are out. Last, the hatchets are fun as hell. You can use chain hurl in low and then double flux back to continue chain hurling. By doing this, you can basically rapid fire axes. Also, you can directly link L1triangle skills after quick or heavy attacks with no ki pulse in between. This is unique to hatchets. Also demon undercut deal strong as fuck ki damage.

When do you get the sprinting Iai that the Giant FAGGOT of the West uses?

I fucking want some Nioh, but 2 isnt coming out soon enough and I dont want to start first game from the very beginning

The move is called Tiger Sprint, probably in the next region or two.
