baldurs gate thread?
Baldurs gate thread?
mmmm no
I love mommy Jaheira!
I already know the answer, but;
Should I grab Dragonsiege while it is cheap and play the Enhanced Edition Trilogy mod?
I've never played Balder's Gate before.
If you don't romance her, she stays alone the rest of her life. It's kind of pathetic.
I've never played baldur's gate is it easy to get nowadays?
I did romance her! I defile Khalid's wife EVERY night! I love MY wife Jaheira! She IS my wife now!
It IS easy to get user! There IS Enhanced Edition! It adds BAD things BUT they ARE avoidable! It IS easy to get AND play Enhanced Edition!
You do you. For me SoD is completely skippable and overall pointless, but if you want to play it for completion's sake, why not. It doesn't bring anything new to the table and the writing is pretty spotty at best and atrocious at worst. But it has Viconia proto-romance. That's something. Unfortunately EETrilogy doesn't work without SoD.
If you played games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker or somesuch, you find no problems getting the hang of it. It's your standard D&D fare, so if you know anything about the system, you'll be fine. Just keep in mind that THAC0 systems are weird. Essentially, the lower the AC, the better.
>beamdog characters
>no Quayle
Can't wait to see the Baldur's Gate 3 trailer at the E3
Him and Tiax were the absolutely most useless characters in the game.
It’s impressive just how shit they managed to be
Anyone played baldurs gate dark alliance or 2 on ps2? Was thinking of grabbing those to fuck with. Was there a baldurs gate port for ps2 as well or am i remembering wrong?
I played ad&d back in the day so if it is like that I think I get it.
I'll check it out.
Aye, who's there now? More smithing, or did ye burrow into another river?
viconia gets nailed by phase spiders
what is with this autistic shitposting? in every fucking crpg thread there some faggot who post about romances
>I played ad&d back in the day
And BG1 & 2 run on AD&D 2e - so there you have it.
>I'll check it out.
My personal advice - don't bother with EE companions though. They are not worth your time. You'll know them when you'll see them. They are the loud, quirky ones that like to butt into the conversations unprompted.
Install the mod that disables them or something or just ignore them.
Dark Alliance IS good! Alyth IS a good wife!
How easy is it for SoD to slip in?
If I start BGEE now, could I download SoD later and it would be fine?
>Playing a blackguard
>Not a proper LG paladin
What a weenie.
>plays crpgs
>calls others autistic
mmmm
>when it's not waifushiter it's the gay fish guy, when it's not gay fish it's kiddinity-kun
Probably, I think it start automatically when you finish bg when installed or you can import your save
bg2 is my favorite game of all time, but it's a pain in the ass because I always have to min-max
>fire everyone from the party before turning in quests
>never pay for spellcasting license
>must do every companion quest, even cernd's gay-ass one
>can only do jaheira's romance because of muh xp
Only a Bhaalspawn could stomach her character
Just like my jrpgs
Do you not sleep or something, the fuck is wrong with you?
>fucking roast beef
Lmao cuckboi
Gayfishkun can at least be entertaining if you get him onto how he thinks fucking Trannies isn't gay while sperging about about the homos in deadfire.
>try baldur's gate 2
>its too janky to play
Remake when
Did she put those portraits somewhere to download and use?
yes
A twitter tranny did it
What! I do sleep!
You were at this shit about 2 in the morning.
I was NOT sleeping!
Bear is prety based though. I wish druids could have an animal companion.
Baldur's Gate original and 2 are both shit, mediocre writing and horrible pacing
eternal reminder that diceroll '1d8 +3d8' autism has no place in vidya at all
That's a cute Alora.
That's a cute Aerie.
It is! (It is! It is!)
Does Enhanced edition of BG2 touch any of the writing or is it just Siege of Dragonqueer that has the SJW shit?
i think ee changes some things
It gives personal quests to the new companions, but that's about it.
Enhanced Edition ADDS quests AND characters BUT majority IS avoidable! You CAN play Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition! I have NOT played Siege of Dragonspear BUT I have HEARD it IS bad!
what the fuck is base THACO, this is why i cant get into these games
It IS To Hit Armor Class 0 user! You SHOULD count backwards! Lower IS better!
the lower the better
honestly you dont even need to know about stats since you get op fast and if you fuck up you can save scum
THAC0 is an acronym for "to hit armor class zero". You see, back in older editions, the more armor you had, the LOWER your AC was. Essentially, a base THAC0 of 15 means that on a roll of 15, you can hit an enemy with an AC of 0 - in modern game terms, this is an attack bonus of +5.
We truely are in a special type of hell.
Pretty sure you can best the game without knowing more than low ac = good.
Casters on the other hand..
tell me about siege of dragonspear
based
first tell me about bane
I think bane is a 3e spell
>Larian may be teasing Baldur's Gate 3, not Divinity: Original Sin 3
Motherfucking hype
Bane (pronounced: /ˈbɑːJn/ BAIN) was the evil and malicious greater deity of fear, hatred and tyranny and ruler of Banehold. Preferring to plot and scheme, Bane rarely appeared to act in a direct manner; instead acting through his worshipers and other various agents. His ultimate goal was to eventually control all of Faerûn. When summoned he had a dark and rather shadowy appearance with a resemblance of dark armor and his tell-tale jeweled dark gauntlet. He emanated an aura of vast power and cruel intelligence.
>may
Its confirmed user, people datamined the website and found a bunch of WotC and Baldurs Gate shit
Any suggestions for party in Divinity Original Sin?
wolf fane sebille and one more
the original or 2?
Lone Wolf is really strong in either game
is serpent in the staglands good
Just have fun and try not to abuse status effects too much, the game stops being much fun if you just stunlock enemies on turn 1.
Also play on tactician mode, it changes enemy placement and shit to make the game harder in a genuinely interesting way, rather than the usual "Enemies do more damage, you do less damage" bullshit.
stop typing LIKE this IT makes YOU look AUTISTIC
What!
If I'm a brainlet what build and class do I go in Baldurs Gate
I am NOT smart AND I played Monk!
Fighter is your bread and butter and hardest to fuck up, spellcasting and thieving abilities are covered by your companions usually .
Give me good dos 1 ee lone wolf build, plz. I soloed the second game few times, now wanna play the first.
Berserker or barbarian is a better choice since they give you shitload of immunities imo
Is the story of 1 related to 2? I've heard 1 hasn't aged as well as 2 and I want to play
to be quite honest stories in both are fucking trash along with gameplay but zoomer like it because it makes them feel like old school boomers. and because it has polished graphics so its more palatable for zoom zooms. Pillars of eternity is a better game and so is wasteland 2.
You don't know to have played 1 to enjoy 2 but it is referenced a few times and gives greater context to relationships with companions like Imoen, Jaheira and Viconia.
>Is the story of 1 related to 2?
Yes. You can even import your character.
>I've heard 1 hasn't aged as well as 2 and I want to play
They are not that differend. 2 just has more party banter and interaction with your companions.
I'm not a big fan of CRPGs or ARPGs but I dislike the combat of a crpg and dislike most of the stories I've seen in arpgs. Are there any arpgs that have same roleplaying story qualities as a good crpg?
How often do you take Sarevok with you in BG2?
I always do the opposite of what people who speak like you say
Alright guess I'll play both then. Thanks.
If you're a complete idiot fighter, fighter/thief, and paladin are pretty straightforward. Basically can just hit stuff and mess around with your party members to figure out magic and stuff. As long as you pump strength to 18 as one of those you should be fine.
Never. He's hilariously overpowered but at the point of the story you don't need to min-max your party to shit on content and it doesn't feel right to ditch someone who's been with me for a long time for his ungrateful ass.
The worst thing about this game so far is panic / horror / whatever making your party run around like headless chicken for a whole minute. Also, I switched to Normal from Core Rules because it feels like the game encourages save scumming to not die from RNG bullshit. Other than those things I'm surprised how well BG1 has aged.
Base THAC0 is determined by your class and level. Warriors have the best (lowest) and fastest progression, then Clerics, Rogues, and Wizards. It reflects their skill with weapons. THAC0 is then modified by various things like magical weapons, spell buffs, etc.
of course you will because you are underage.
You need to take better care of your wife. Those are some fresh cuts and scars.
They ARE from punishment! I punish MY mommy wife!
Is Nalia in the sjw tier meant as bait? I dont see it
Who are Nerys, Delina and Shandie?
She is a SJW, if you've ever played her romance, you'll see it more than the hints you get in the vanilla writing
Minsc's new companions, 100 years after BG2 (wild magic is involved).
What's the in-universe justification for people having scars when druids and clerics can resurrect someone fully from a pile of ashes?
Magical healing will not leave scars, but if something heals without the aid of magic, a simple healing spell won't erase it. You need a regeneration spell with is very high level and not many have nor can afford it.
She IS cute!
The art is inconsistent across the various series. Legends of Baldur's Gate has the best stuff.
If we are NOT same character Delina IS a good wife! Give me sequel Delina romance!
How is Nalia SJW tier and not Neera? Neera is literally a pink haired valley girl from California that says "Jeeeez".
Nalia's SJWism makes sense in the game - with everybody treating her ideas as retarded and even people she's trying to "help" are not taking her seriously. She's literally smelling her own farts thinking she's super awesome, with everyone around her telling her how detached from the actual world problems she is. It's a good commentary.
She's totally not Neera 2.0.
What about now?
>not letting keldorn go home to be a family man
>she's a sjw if you read fanfiction
She's exactly what sjws are, and her romance mod makes her far more insufferable. Neera was created by sjws, but afaik, isn't there to push any sjw tropes. That's what the rewriting of existing characters' dialogue and personalities are for.
Definitely not.
Always. He's FUCKING SAREVOK. Motherfucker once managed to one-shot a dragon in Watcher's Keep with his Deathbringer Assault.
Also, his voice is pure sex.
He GIVES his wife! Let ME use Keldorn's wife!
The fanfiction just makes it more blatant. It's there in the vanilla game, they just don't dwell on it continuously.
Jesus you're a fucking retard, do everyone a favour and kill yourself.
He IS my brother! He IS a good brother!
>not bringing Sarevok with you
There is no party member, not a single one that I wouldn't leave rotting in the pocket dimension to make place for Sarevok. I'd kick my entire party out. Wouldn't even hesitate.
>beamdog characters
For all the talk about returning characters in apparent BG3, one character I would like to return is actually Sarevok. Even if it is 100 years later, he has proven himself to be too much too stubborn to die. So, seeing old man Sarevok kicking ass somewhere on the Sword Coast (maybe fighting the Bhaal cultists if turned a good guy) would be based as fuck.
Neera’s problem is that she’s lolrandumb without the writers having the ability to make it work.
The fact that she shares a game with Jan, one of the best examples of doing it right, is frankly hilarious.
>Playing Baldur's Gate for the first time
>Cut through dungeons like they are nothing
>Run into the boss
>Insta gibs half my party
So is every boss supposed to take at least two attempts? One so you know they are there, and a second so you can actually buff and position your party?
>surrounded by that many vampries
aren't you kinda fucked unless you're packing a powerful cleric to turn undead?
>mfw level drained for the first time
Yeah, thank fuck they have a powerful cleric with them.
Wait, they don't.
Theoretically speaking if you know all the rules and you paying attention to hints you get from surroundings you could expect what kind of boss you will encounter and be ready to it.
I was going to say they wouldn't bring back the companions since they can die, then remembered they did the same with BG2 and even chose the canon party for you
I still wish we could have gotten Coran and Xan for BG2
SoD has a surprisingly solid antagonist, but it's also the kind of writing that got two Beamdog's writers demoted to QA and eventually fired over SJW nonsense. You don't really need it and an "interquel" was really not what I needed between BG1 and BG2.
You SHOULD use Negative Plane Protection user! Give me Amulet of Power! Give me vampire wife!
Their cleric gets ganked by Strahd almost immediately and spends the rest of the series and half the next comatose or simply bedridden.
BG2 canonically killed off 2/3rd of the party members I ever used in BG. I'll be happier if they go the Kivan route and simply never mention them again, if that means I won't have to deal with another Ajantis-situation. Easily the most infuriating shit BG2 pulled on me.
To be fair consider that Clerics are useless in Ravenloft so it's an easy way out. I do prefer the alternative approach that while your gods are silent SOMETHING out there is answering to your prayers. You simply don't always get what you want.
I want to make Nerys comatose!
I wonder if Larian would even bother with BG2 to BG3 continuity. They could do us a solid and create some kind of save editor that lets you specify the choices you've made in BG series - something akin to Dragon Age Keep.
Which companions are dead, which are alive, who did you romance, did CHARNAME ascend or not, shit like that.
Minsc is huge
so nobody played siege of dragonspear did they
Well, Kivan was supposed to be in BG2 as a companion. They just run out of money at this point and he was cut.
A lot of shit was cut from BG2, frankly - entire Valygar and Haerdalis romance for instance, half of the content for Aerie (that's why her romance is so criminally short) and Viconia (she was supposed to have an arc in the Underdark) and at least one companion (beforementioned Kivan).
2 or 3 at least
still looks like tumblr garbage. fuck off for shilling it.
>Strahd
Wut. What is he doing in Baldur's Gate comic.
I'm more annoyed if they're actually in Ravenloft. You do not leave Ravenloft once you're there.
It's too bad that they had to cut content, but what they did with Ajantis was just pure edge for no reason. Even worse than Khalid's death.
Good luck with that
It's surprisingly not bad
Anyone from any D&D world can go to Ravenloft. They've sucked in named characters from pretty much everywhere...Greyhawk, Krynn, FR etc.
>mfw its turn based
The same thing Acererak is doing on Chult. Faerun in 5e is a hogde-podge of different settings that at this point starts resembling Planescape more than anything.
And Minsc and co. just casually wandered into Ravenloft. How else would you shill your new Ravenloft module?
Yeah, I kind of already get the area clues that there is a boss coming up, but its hard to tell what they are going to do before I encounter them.
>Is this a super teleporting wizard with lightning that bounces everywhere or three ogres?
Inquisitor, put all your prof points into 2handed swords, 2h weapon style and leftovers into halbreds. Inquisitors are alright in melee and can shut down enemy wizards pretty hard but there is a inquisitor NPC already.
Fighter/thiefmulticlass or 8Fighter > Thief will cover your shitty companions better since there is no decent thief npcs. Invest into scimitars, dualwielding style and longswords in that order
For you
Playing BG2 classes in BG is cheating. Stick with vanilla.
Just download the original and mod it.. I did this yesterday.. Its not hard.. Heres a starting point...
freegogpcgames.com
>So is every boss supposed to take at least two attempts?
You say it like that's something outlandish. When a system has more moving parts you cannot exactly anticipate what it will throw at you. Al tough, Kangaxx encounter is fucking bullshit you cannot really prepare for at first.
Icewind Dale > Baldur's Gate
Escape was always possible though difficult, but since this was just for product promotion and they were clearly overmatched, they plot-deviced them in and out.
Inquisitor won't make much difference in BG
I see. Well not the first time someone has ventured into Ravenloft. In the first book of it's series Jander got transported from Faerun and I think there was Lord Soth too who got sucked in from Krynn. Been a while since I've read those books.
What! Is this cleric werewolf wife!
IWD gets a bad rep as "Diablo of IE games", but that's blatantly wrong. Story and choices are simply not its focus. And many were overwhelmed by the fact you had to create your ENTIRE party from the get-go.
Where do I get the gigachad filter
Why the fuck isn't Branwen romanceable.
Soth and Vlad Drakov are both from Krynn, Azalin was from Oerth. I think Harkon Lukas was originally from Faerun.
Creating your entire party resulted in some busted party composition, I personally liked it. What interested me the most was how there isn't an exp cap but level cap, so you can be 30/30/30 if you have enough exp. But I think when I finished the game my single classed characters didn't reach 30 so I guess that's just impossible
>Kangaxx encounter is fucking bullshit you cannot really prepare for at first.
Well, you might use common sense. He's undead. You deliberately know this. And it's obvious that he's going to stab you in the back from the get go. Hence Protection against Undead scroll might be a good idea. As well as an improved Mace of Disruption. You can't predict that he'll be immune to everything but +4 weapons, but Mace of Disruption will one-shot him if RNG gods will it.
He's actually a good example of a puzzle boss. You pretty much have to find a way to get around his strengths and then he becomes trivial.
>He didn't install BGNPCProject.
>Well, Kivan was supposed to be in BG2 as a companion
Kivan with NPC mod was based, but I really wanted to get Coran back. Though Kivan + romance would probably be the best choice for female characters.
don't you literally just come across him by a secret passage in athkatla? I may be misremembering it.
I create my OWN wife in THOSE games! It IS good! Accalia IS also a good wife!
>IWD gets a bad rep as "Diablo of IE games", but that's blatantly wrong.
How it is wrong? The overall structure is clearly similar.
Nope, he sends you on an entire lengthy sidequest to gather his body parts. You kill some liches along the way. He gives you just enough hints to figure out where he's going with it. It's only after you complete the sidequest he attacks you.
Give me werewolf wife BUT only IN human form!
I have to finish IWD 1 at some point.
Somehow I have 26 hours of IWD EE locked in. I haven't gotten past Kuldahar. I literally spent 26 FUCKING HOURS rerolling a party and starting the game anew. That's some new level of autism.
What's your fav modded class?
I never left the first town in iwd2
>And many were overwhelmed by the fact you had to create your ENTIRE party from the get-go.
I fucking loved it. Fuck this retarded tradition of discovering your party members one by one along the way.
>severely handicaps your party flexibility
>can't properly plan your party composition on your first play through
>some decent characters are often met too late
>their dogshit premade builds
>you might like the character that doesn't fit in your party or vice versa
>READING THROUGH THEIR BULLSHIT BACKSTORIES AND RESOLVING THEIR MOTHERFUCKING DADDY ISSUES
I remember spending at least a weeks creating my party in Wizardry 8 because I was overwhelmed by the amount of classes and races.
Vi Domina IS a good wife!
To be fair you could also create your entire party in BGs originally. You just had to spoof it by running a LAN game.
>And many were overwhelmed by the fact you had to create your ENTIRE party from the get-go.
literally me
At what point was Minsc turned into this great paragon of good?
Because he started screaming and tried to kill me when I dared to tell him that my level 1 party was in no condition to raid a gnoll fortress right then and there. I always remember him as an utter psychopath.
I am still amazed no game has successfully copied Wiz8's party creation. Fact you could assign personality and voice, only for characters to interact with each other based on those is still mindblowing to me. Yeah, mostly it was canned responses based on what X and Y were, but it still gave that lifelike note to characters you yourself created.
He's difficult when it comes to rejection.
You can just recruit him and then dump him.
Anyway - he gives you like a week after you recruit him to solve his sidequest. It's more than enough time to do it. And the gnoll fortress is piss-easy. Level 1-2 character can raid it no problem if properly prepared.
because lol wacky hamster man
Someone never played Goldbox D&D games.
>1d8+3d8
user i'm not that old
Might and Magic X IS good too! Ann IS a GOOD wife!
One my first playthrough he turned on me saying I was taking too long. We were literally in the middle of raiding the gnoll fortress. That sort of shit is why I always stagger saves in old games.
That IS older than me BUT I can find older wife! You need wife! Tell me wife I will find IF possible!
There. A pic related OG waifu. First of its kind, straight from 1992.
And I am still older than that game.
Minsc is definitely sweet on Nerys.
user, he tries to murder you and all of your friends in a fit of rage because you said "no". Being chaotic is one thing, but it's not possible to twist this in a way where this isn't straight up evil.
Gameplay-wise you might be right technically, but as a first time player how was I supposed to know that the time limit was more lenient than what the dialog implied? Or that killing a fortress full of gnolls is not such a big deal even though until that point the only thing I've killed were a couple of goblins?
>Baldur's Gate 3 and it involves the Fell Five
Would you play it?
Minsc literally cannot compute the idea of romance. The only one he loves is Boo. And to some extent Dynaheir.
Siulajia IS a good wife! Give me vintage wife!
as long as they keep ALL the banter
I'm pretty sure Minsc has lower int and wis than an average human, he's good but not mentally stable
In an instant
Fuck you lol.
-t. Finished bg1 with a sorcerer.
Of course
He's sweet on her, but he can only comprehend it on the level of a child, so it's still very innocent and he has no idea how to express it.
His INT is 8, which is low average in AD&D. His WIS is 6, which accounts for his naivete.
>playing BG is now becoming a zoomer trend after a decade of obscurity
so there is a God after all?
>not soloing the game as kensai
yare yare daze
I still want to play the original concept that would-be Obsidian was developing at one point.
Of course
Just entered Baldur's Gate for the first time, I think my Paladin has turned out pretty well.
It sounded more like a spiritual sequel to Torment or MoTB than to Baldur's Gate though.
>blackguard
real edgy, faggot.
I bet you pronounce it black-gard instead of blag-urd, faggot
Berserker is the best melee class. Dabbing on mages and mindflayers never gets old
>"BG3" is going to be a turn-based D:OS2 mod
How do we solve the zoomer problem, Yea Forums?
Technically, he's locked away somewhere.
Big Daddy Bhaal took over.
Don't you meet him in ToB?
I don't think so. Larian is probably taking a break from D:OS for a while. Hell, they got the Expeditions devs creating a more combat-focused Original Sin SRPG in the meantime.
She started getting snappy with me in the beginning of Baldur's Gate 2, so I just killed her next to her husband's corpse.
I'm sorry that you feel that way old man.
Takes place after that. He was imprisoned for causing the Spellplague when he killed Mystra or something.
>posting beamdog shit tier characters
>Chad Irenicus
>a rejected orbiter of Ellesime with terminal oneitis
>literally makes constructs of her because of his neediness
>"""Chad"""
meanwhile Sarevok rejects his own gf to get more power and she still hands around and begs for his life
Yeah, but in 4e/5e he gets imprisoned for 10000 years by Ao for murdering Mystra (again). And Bhaal takes the murder portfolio from Cyric in the meantime. Bane and Myrkul take the rest.
I actually have no idea if Cyric is actually active in FR or not. The entire 5e cosmology is fucked, with various gods alive and dead existing at the same time. It gets even more confusing with Seldarine. WotC has this very strong "pick your canon" approach to lore nowadays.
turn-based>rtwp
So, the Child of Baal has awoken. It is time for more... Experiments.
I bought the enhanced edition a while back as it was only 5 dollars. But I heard it was still buggy and shit?
has anyone compared the enhanced edition to just downloading the originals and modding them?
Apparently if you get the EE you can still elect to use the unenhanced version, which you can then patch with WEIDU and all the other goodness that Beamdog stole and still managed to fuck up.
I still have some old disks somewhere.
Only on GOG. Buying EE there gives you vanilla BG 1 and 2 as well.
You won't get vanilla BG anywhere else IIRC.
>meanwhile Sarevok rejects his own gf to get more power
Only to regret it in ToB. Disappointing.
How did Bhaal get his power back? Shouldn't he be "dead"?
game is great
Dont give beamdog money, retards.
There were only two Bhaalspawn left. CHARNAME (or Abdel Adrian) and Viekang. So they kinda murdered one another and Bhaal was resurrected as was his original intent. There is an entire module describing that. Yeah, it's a mother of all rectons, but 5E is filled with those.
Abdel Adrian WAS bad AND weak! He is NOT worthy OF Charname!
I agree but its Baldur's Gate. Its already probably going to have nothing to do with the Bhaalspawn saga
>4 18s
yeah if you reroll a few hundred times any character will be good
>baldurs gate dark alliance
No but I played a lot of champions of norrath and a little of champions return to arms and they're great. I believe they use the same engine and gameplay
Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.
1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).
2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.
3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.
4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
>no
>One of the longest threads in the Catalog
Niggers like you need the rope.
zoomers don't play these kinds of games period.
So calm down you seething new fag I doubt they'd drastically change the formula since most of the games they've made are based off of it.
zoomers are the future
these fags existed forever
You haven't spent 2 hours mashing "Reroll" button?
Or used an autoroller?
based
What was your highest roll? Mine was 104, but I was playing an half-orc barbarian IIRC so half of it went to waste
God help us all.
Not that hard as a paladin. They have minimum 17 CHA which in BG means any CHA roll below 17 will get boosted up to 17. Also min 13 WIS.
Any other class with the same roll would have 3 18s, 4 CHA and 3 WIS.
This post is a lie and you know it.

Nah. I could argue that P:T > BG, but IWD? It was good, yep, but it was undoubtedly always the third in the list from those big three.
You don't slay the drow. You waifu them until they become cute and docile.
I feel obligated to bring Imoen and Sarevok with me at the appropriate times
Where? I am just curious.
Do you wait till the end game or just use the mod that makes end game companions appear earlier?
Without that mod some companions get shafted real hard imo, especially Alora. I doubt many people even know she exists

This might be a record

I was waiting for it, based.
If I really feel like he's not pulling his weight I will just manually buff a few things with the save editor, most of the time though yeah I use a mod that lets me grab people whenever I want
the golems are in the originals too you tard, what are you on about
What exactly is happening in example 6? Shilling? Autism?
what the fuck why are you having trouble with them just click on them with a blunt weapon
hell they're so weak you don't even need that
Dunno but that janitor surely is a fag. That pasta was always regularly posted as tradition and nobody payed attention to it anymore but that asshole is banning it for some reason.
I think that the beamdog post is getting removed as spam (like the chinaposting does now). Basically any large repetitive text thing like that will get removed intermittently but every time the person who makes it assumes its a personal attack. I think they should just allow them personally, we've been posting that beamdog shit for years now
Removing shitposting
Oh, you mean the golems, they're in Rayic Gethras's house.
Even though it doesn't have too much bearing on the game,
What's your favorite alignment fellas?
Neutral Good is mine. Lawful Evil if I ever touch it.
Summon something and have it stand in front
Melf's Minute Meteor is a third level spell that at least in the original does a small amount of unstoppable damage. You can use that to cheese a number of encounters (if you have enough of these memorized and protection from undead scroll you can take down Kangaxx very early). Otherwise only +2 weapons or greater will harm them.
True neutral or neutral good. I can't play evil in these games with how reputation works and how much exp/items I would miss
I feel that
Lawful Good, but no the pussy "I have to follow the laws of the land" shit.
No, the good old fanatical god fearing kind.
Neutral Good AND True Neutral AND Neutral Evil!
Can I play bg1 enhanced without any of the new characters or adventures. I just want vanilla with mods
the law is only good if it is righteous and is for the benefit of the people
if not, it deserves to be torn down
You can just ignore the new characters or even kill them on sight if you want to.
100% agree, it's realistic but the rep system in BG2 usually prevents me from playing evil also
Thanks for tips, I'll try in the next playthrough. Right now I'm much more interest in the story.
Reminder that Sorcerer and Blade are the most fun classes.
For Dorn and monk you have to talk to them first to start their quests. Neera one is auto initated but it's very short. Drow mage is like an easter egg so you will most likely miss it anyway
I don't think it has any new adventures
I can't be mad at this level of dedication to shitposting.
Rasaad is fine but I find monk pretty boring. Sprinting around at mach 10 in ToB appeals to me but not being able to equip gear is annoying me
What!
oh yeah there's a whole lot more you can do- the primary chapters for completing side content are 2 and 5, so if you head off to spellhold without having finished some things don't worry you get another shot at it later when you're stronger
Anything that's not an arcane caster is boring
I hope cleric and druid becomes more robust in 3
Yeah that's fair
Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, and Lawful Good in that order.
I want to start playing again, finish both first and second bg. What call should I roll this time? Are paladins fun?
Sure, if you like auto-attacking. But luckily with a certain paladin only sword they're not too shabby for it. Cavalier and Inquisitor are some strong choices for it. I prefer cavalier because there's already a guy who is a inquisitor.
Inquisitor gets pretty powerful but giving up access to even your crappy paladin spell list makes them a little bit less fun to play. If you want to continue into ToB however only fighter can get full mastery of any of the weapons meaning that compared to a pure fighter in ToB he'll have a couple less attacks every round and a slightly crappier THAC0. Getting the Carsomyr probably makes up for that- the fat magic resist combined with the inquisitor dispel magic (at 2x your level every time) and early access to true seeing means that once you grab that in BG2 you will be killing most wizards in a single round before their contingencies can go off
Just download a mod that disables EE companions. Because they will force themselves on you whether you like it or not.
Monk IS good AND fun user! It IS hard AT low level BUT it IS easy AT high level! Give me punch! Give me kick! Give me Jaheira!
Lawful Good
Lawful Neutral
Lawful Evil
While monk is ''alright'' late-game please don't go monk for your first time around.
They're boring but strong, not the strongest. One of the biggest perks they have is that they can use Carsomyr which just happens to be one of the most OP weapons in the game, with extra OPness against Chaotic Evil so a lot of extra tough encounters. It depends on whether you plan on using Keldorn in your party, or if you even want to play on easy mode with a +5 sword.
Some thief kits/multiclasses are also fun imo. I also liked playing a ranger with a pet from a mod but I guess mods shouldn't count in this argument
Speaking of rangers, what is their advantage supposed to be? Paladins have really powerful kits, get a heal spell and protection from evil. And also summon deva as high level spell
Except for 2 dual wield pips at the start I can't recall anything useful rangers get. They just seem shitty fighters. The summon they get from their stronghold was dope though
KENSAI/MAGE COMING THROUGH. DONT NEED YOU DUMB SHITS ILL SOLO THE GAME MYSELF.
WHATS THAT? MAZE? TOO BAD YOUR SHIT AI TARGETS MY HORDE OF SUMMONED LEVEL 1 GOBLINS BEFORE ME. GG.
I prefer berserker/mage myself
But they get access to stealth! They can't do anything with it except scout but they can do it.
>They just seem shitty fighters
They are, they can cast a bunch of shitty spells and stealth but that's it. I guess archer are good if you want to use missile weapons
Archer subclass is really strong
also they can be dual classed to cleric for a complete access to divine spells in the original
ranger gets free two weapon fighting and divine spellcaster levels, it's great for multiclass into a cleric
level up a ranger to like 7 I think is when they get the free weapon points, and then go as a cleric the rest of the way
you miss like 1 spellcaster level but have far superior melee capabilities, and a bunch of extra level 1-2 spells (cure light wounds)
If they go with 5E, I suppose they become slightly more robust. Every cleric/druid subclass is more mechanically distinct. But 5Ecitself isn't a particularly complex system so I dunno how well will that translate.
I always kinda thought that ravenloft and strahd work like dracula in castlevania. Every time he is "killed" he respawns and his castle kinda appears somewhere else in the forgotten realms and turns the land evil and foggy. Because upper management is punishing him for an eternity.
The supervisor gods can't do shit in ravenloft because it's kind of a pocket dimension and out of their jurisdiction
Idk much about DnD, but isn't druid supposedly very strong in whatever version BG is based on too? I remember reading they are so strong, after a certain level there is only one druid in whole world and that is why they have a fucked up level progression in the game. But druids in BG just feel like ass
In ice wind dale druids are actually really strong in that game compared to baldur's gate
druids are great in both baldur's gate games too
>Nerys
>Delina
>Shandie
>no Anomen
... I like my old school original BG2 with no fanfictions.
Jaheira is pretty powerful once she gets her hierophant spells and epic warrior abilities. Too bad that's towards the end of the game.
Fighter/Druid Bhaalspawn is actually a good choice once you get some levels.
paladins are easy as shit to roll in the 90s.
How? You have Nature's Beauty, Iron Skins, those insect spells for interrupts and hla elemental summons. Except for those they don't have much over clerics or mages and when you're stuck on level 14 they will keep leveling up too
>iron skins
>insect plague
she's top tier even without HLA's
They're ''eh''
I'd take them over a priest though.
>I also liked playing a ranger with a pet from a mod
Which one?
I never was able to get into Baldur's Gate due to the horrendous American voice acting. Nothing is a bigger turnoff while playing a high fantasy game han having your eardrums raped by some fat Texan voice actor going: "Huurr duurrr a really likai dis spell ovah hur".
Didn't have this problem with Pathfinder: Kingmaker, both D:OS's and Icewind Dale, its just really noticable with both Baldur Gate games.
>mods that combine 1, 2, and ToB now also require Siege of Dragonspear
>no way to skip
haha no, thanks
What! You CAN import user!
Maybe turn off the voices then.
>So I kicked him in the dead 'till he was dead! Hahahaha
>You mess with me, you mess with YOU
Imagine not enjoying the BG1 voices
Jaheira's accent IS cute! It IS a mommy accent!
>My hotel is as clean as an elven arse!
What's the trick of getting Minsc and Edwin into the same party? Do I have to kill Dynaheir before I even talk to Minsc or some shit?
Imoen Romance Mod, y/n?
Thank fuck for playing BG2 in Polish then.
>Don't touch me, I'm SUPER important
>Get Minsc
>Get Dynaheir
>Dynaheir has an unfortunate accident in another building, away from Minsc
>Remove dead Dynaheir
>Go get Edwin
You probably should not be playing Deadfire then. Xoti says hi.
Do you have a broken bird / incest fetish?
I liked some of the voices a lot in IWD
>I pray your childish mind will soon turn towards other amusements
>I hope you develop a pox in that hand
When I did this IIRC first I got Minsc, rescued Dynaheir, Dynaheir fell in combat, kicked her out and got Edwin. They didn't fight afterwards
Thanks brah.
What kind of question is that?
Yes, always.
>He doesn't want to fuck Dynaheir.
What mommy accent IS Jaheira! Where IS it from! Give me European bear accent mommy!
Tethyrian of course.
Should I bother modding the game or just play vanilla?
The one you need to ask yourself if you want to romance Imoen
I would say - mod it.
Vanilla BG1 is rather dated mechanically. Unless you want to go vintage.
Give me Tethyrian mommy!
> Enhanced edition
That's a big oof and a yikes from me chief
based zoomer using zoomer words
is CHARNAME a canonical virgin before BG2?
Looks like its in the style of that Dungeon meshi manga
That's not the worst part of it. This is SoD UI. I pity the poor guy.
He wasn't in my playthrough. Dynaheir can attest that. She was satisfied with his performance.
Well, no shit, it was made by the author.
No, he pounded the shit out of Imoen
He definitely knew something about trollops and plug tails.
mods you heard the man, this thread has gone long enough
At least it's not the original SoD UI. I have no idea what the fuck were they thinking with that one.
But it warms my heart that fucking up so hard with that expansion effectively killed their company.
if you never played it then go first vannila but let me say that suprisingly most of the mods are good even mod companions are mostly writen in good way
What DID happen! Lost money!
Is there a way to buy the original without the enhanced edition?
Just keep in mind that vanilla BG1 is incompatible with any mods whatsoever. In order to mod BG1 you need to either convert it to BGT/TuTu or go with BG:EE.
Was characters getting stuck on each other original game bug or "enhanced" edition feature?
Nah. So go and pirate them.
No. That's a biggest "fuck you" from Beamdog there is. They explicitly removed all vanilla games from stores. You can only get vanilla games in a bunfle with EE and only on GOG who pretty much don't give a fuck about Beamdog's politics.
You must gather your party before venturing forth
Not anymore. At least you can fix most of their bad decisions with mods.
>UI mod
>No EE NPC's mod
>Map mod
The only bad thing is the lack of proper Trilogy mod. You HAVE to play the shitty Beamdog dlc if you want to use it, because mod creators are cucks.
My first playthrough was a neutral good, any tips for evil playthrough?
Isn’t it implied with Viconia, or am I misremembering?
>Dynaheir
Absolutely disgusting.
The biggest issue is - your mods get fucked if you use GOG or Steam version of SoD. Beamdog's retarded programming. So in order to use mods properly with SoD you need to install another mod on top of that. That includes EET. I have no idea why you can't skip SoD during EET installation. This would've made configuring it much easier.
What's so good about BG2 boys?
Thought BG1 was "eh", almost didn't want to finish it.
No! Had sex with Candlekeep mommies! Sexual sex!
BG2 has waifus. And companion interactions. And more interesting story and locales.
Wtf is going on in bg thread's?
You CAN marry your mommy from Baldur's Gate 1! Your mommy BECOMES your wife! That IS the best! Steal wife! Steal mommy! Khalid IS gone!
Chaotic good masterrace
the story the bg1 mostly suffer from big empty maps that is not the case in bg2
bg nice exploring and shit
bg2 boring exploring and shit
bg boring exploring and shit
bg2 no exploring at all and shit
Not true.
I managed to explore Viconia. And it wasn't boring at all.
what if it's -20? do I become unhittable at some number???
Most late game enemys get high boni to their attack rolls, but some low tier enemys can only hit you when they roll a crit.
I know user, she can even summon a nymph with group heal.
Then later she can turn into an earth elemental with greater whirlwind.
That's an awesome picture of Jaheira, thank you.
>tfw you can't protect her smile
>have to give beamdog money if i want to own the vanilla games on gog with cloud save support
A natural 20 always hits, but otherwise sure. Early on, if you wear decent armor & shield into the kobold mines in BG1, the rats can hardly touch you.
Later on that gets pretty difficult to pull off though.
But I can, with my love.
