I think it would be cool if there were portals that changed the era of the game in stages. Like in Mario Odyssey how you can use warp pipes to enter 8 bit OG mode. Imagine you're on a new Koopa Beach and take a sharp turn into a cave and pop out in SNES Koopa Beach for a lap, how rad would that be.
I just want something on par with games like 8 or Double Dash or perhaps even a step up if they can do it. I haven't gotten 8 Deluxe because it feels like a waste of money to buy the game twice and I really want to have a new MK on Switch.
I really liked Double Dash's unique item per pair system, it made everyone feel special. Two characters on one kart again would be cool, but I don't want it quite as much as the unique items. I'm all for stuff like 8's magnetic courses and 7's glider/underwater stuff to continue too with perhaps some new additional add on of that sort.
Pauline would be a decent newcomer, but I really want some past characters who have gotten left out like Diddy to return.
DK Mountain was always a big favorite of mine. I enjoy most courses, but that one was missed in 8.
Super Mario Kart All-Stars Deluxe and everything a name like this suggests.

I really hope they add more blue shell-like pickups and AI rubber banding effects. Also, if they could copy and paste everything from the previous game and change me $100, while keeping a good portion of the character list as micro transaction DLC, that’d be amazing.

Blue shells need to be buffed if anything. In 8, first place speeds off to the moon and the race becomes a fight for second place.

It's been 5 years without a new original Mario Kart, and that Tour shit looks terrible.
But if you haven't noticed, phone apps for Nintendo are advertising for their upcoming games, like Pocket Camp is for the Switch AC game.
So Tour is just an app to advertise Mario Kart. It wouldn't be crazy that they released MK9 in 2020 or 2021. Why wouldn't they? It's a franchise that prints money.

But which Koopaling do you leave out? No one has ever been more important than the other and they are all equal, and they're more important to the Mario franchise than let's say Kamek for example since they appear as a Boss in various games actually and even made their way into Smash Bros, I think is better if you assume Koopalings aren't going away anytime soon.

In terms of characters, Diddy and Birdi need to come back. Their omission in 8 was bizarre. Pauline is an obvious include and Nintendo has been pushing Spike in spinoffs a lot, so he's probably in. Only cuts I'd want are less babies, costume characters, and Pink Gold Peach. Kooalings are fine.
For returning courses, I made a list ages ago but I can't find it right now. All I really want is for them to take advantage of more SNES and GBA tracks than what they've been doing for the last game or two.

Don't talk about RPG characters because most of them are reskins of basic ass enemies, which ost were already playable in mario kart at one point.

Because the amount of characters in this game is becoming asinine, and if they can improve in other areas by cutting shitty characters that nobody wants to save space and allocate it to something else, or to put in characters that people actually want without decreasing space for another aspect of the game, then that's what they need to do.
Honestly just give MK8D some more DLC. The game is perfect. The next Mario Kart has to be something ambitious and do something crazy.

I hate people who assume that you can just add infinite characters, without there being space problems and possibly decreasing the quality of other game functions. Even Sakurai stated that the next Smash is probably never going to have this many characters again. It's too much work, on top of taking up a lot of space.

I've been happy that Birdo hasn't been in the last couple games, I hate that godawful ugly thing and the less I have to see it the better, but if someone wants it I wouldn't stop them.
Every character, even Baby Rosalina, even Pink Gold Peach, even goddamn Honey Queen, has their fans. To go, "well I don't like it, they shouldn't be wasting space" is some prime asshole shit and arbitrarily removing characters isn't going to immediately result in a better project.

Stop making character specific stats. The little bit of ""role play"" weight invokes don't compensate for the fact that 3/4 of the roster is unusable if you want equal chance with tryhards.

With the way weight classes are set up now there's really like eight different characters, effectively. This isn't like a fighting game where a roster has to be fine-tuned and the characters have to be individually balanced. This is a racing game where a turtle and a dead turtle are essentially the same character but they have different models and animations.

Deluxe is just a port of the Wii U game with some very minor changes. Not enough to warrant spending $60 on, even if I really want to play Mario Kart again.

Add a way to defend against items. An sonar that displays a key combination. If pressed correctly turn the blue shell into a dud.

Just keep going in MK8's direction. It did just about everything perfect, from the tight gameplay, to the completely reimagined retro tracks, to the beautiful art style, to the amazing live soundtrack.
In short, don't fix or change what isn't broken. That's all that I ask.
There were some missteps with Deluxe. The game isn't balanced nor designed with 200cc in mind. This either needs to be removed or the tracks need to be created with it in mind. Remove random engine class from online quick match making. Keep it at 150cc or nothing.
Go back to one item. Two items is bullshit and doesn't need to be a thing.
