I learned that I'm absolute trash at any fighting game in existence and should never touch another one again

alright heres the breakdown

1 - its slow as fuck, slower than SFV somehow
2 - neutral is okay, surprised its not terrible. but its ruined with other mechanics.. which are..
3 - supers. they are invincible. and they will always be available to do massive damage
4 - light combo starters into EX into light combos into special move or EX . tons of damage. neutral doesnt mean shit when you lose everything from 1 light normal.
5 - getting in is as easy as any other anime game. and staying in is easy as shit too.
6 - gatling combo straight up just doesnt work sometimes. and there doesnt seem to be much else for combos
7 - using an EX move doesnt use your super meter (it should for using a good special) INSTEAD it fucking removes that skill from your already limited options for basically half the round. using them at the first part of a combo is the only place where the cooldown is less important.
8 - movement feels like shit, jumping feels like complete shit
9 - the whole "cooldown" shit only gimps the audience they are trying to cater to and effects neutral heavily with how EX moves are disabled after use. what a cluster fuck
10 - that same feeling of being ontop of the enemy at all times being either -2 -1 0 +1 or +2 just like Sleep Fighter V

All the low-IQ brainlets that just jump from fighting game to fighting game think this game is all about "footsies" when it's actually just going to be all about pressure and knowing how to steal your turn. It's going to play wildly different from what you're thinking as soon as there's a lab, and it's not going to be fun unless you thrive on one-player games.

Dash on block should use some resources like fautless defence in GG, but there is no mechanic like this here.

The game is supposed to be like street fighter 2 and not your typical anime game. You also have the dodge and roll to get past highs and projectiles.

Dodge roll can be hard read and countered though, and even reacted to if you just use it in the corner or something. Defense in this game is gonna be pretty bad

Feels tight and responsive
Depth feels more on the casual side, but not to a detriment. Still really early to say though, but everyone feels relatively balanced despite the strong response to Ferry. If nothing else, I'm surprised the cooldown system actually feels unobtrusive. The normal super refreshing cooldowns while the 30% super drains them makes me think there's some unexplored combos to it. The match pacing is also nice, feeling like it focuses on spacing while rewarding both defensive and rush-down playstyles.

All in all I'm pretty fucking sold on it.

Charge characters are big on block and punish and zoning, so you're definitely stepping into the deeper end of the pool immediately. Lancelot would probably be a better option for ungaing.

This is going to go exactly like DBFZ. Casual will praise it cause for one they feel like they can do something, then after a month they'll drop it cause there is so little variety. What makes neutral focused games fun is the ability to figure out how to use all your tools in weird ways and then have short but varied combos. Not the case here, everything has a set purpose and it has the most basic combo routes I've ever seen in a fighter.

I always find that kind of thinking backwards, as you also need to take into consideration how long they will enjoy it. If every conversion is the same then the whole combo aspect will become tedious and dull even to a casual player.

It is all well and good to say pros will find something, but that is kind of a non answer. They aren't just going to magic something up, they have to work in the game's systems. If up close they are required to use autocombos then they physically can't change up what they are doing. There are systems here that we can already understand and if we can't get around them there simply won't be more

It does function very similarly to an FADC. You can even charge it up and if it hits your opponent enters a crumple state. Charging it can be a pain though since it can only take a single hit. You can also get thrown out of it and I'm pretty sure low hits get through it.

Without that crumple it isn't super effective either. The best you can do on an uncharged hit is cancel it with a forward dash to close the gap and get a combo going if it was a counter hit.

We don't even know the whole roster yet, the game doesn't even have a proper release date yet, calm down.

FIne I'll bite. Roughly 115 years ago, Ferry lived very happily with her family and had a little sister. Her sister gets sick and they naturally seek medical attention and for years the family try to find a cure for her as she gets progressively worse, eventually a traveling doctor arrives to the island and suggests they take the sick girl to a bigger island.
However air travel at the time is very dangerous and the parents weren't willing to risk both their daughters to die in case the airship would crash so Ferry is left behind. Shortly after they leave, a primal being appears and surrounds the entire island in a thick mist that prevents anyone else from leaving and practically makes it impossible for any airship to get to the island while also killing everyone on said island. But the killing comes with a curse that basically turns everyone into a zombie or a ghost. Roughly a hundred years pass and the MC crew makes their way onto the island, and to make a long story short, they defeat the primal being, find out that by doing so they undo the curse and everyone a ghost or zombie on the island disappears except Ferry for unknown reasons. She was about to disappear like the rest but after being enveloped in light briefly, she was left behind and joins the crew in hopes of finding her sister.
Also it was the doctor that arrived that summoned the primal Celeste and fucked everything up. Celeste's power stems from a wish of not wanting anyone to die and the doc tried to abuse it.
Now shut the fuck up, her age mattered in the past for story context and isn't even relevant today even if Cygames put it in her profile with the notion "at her death" after it.

- Can you use different starters

You seem to misinterpret the aging part. There's an undisclosed amount of time between Ferry being left behind and her dying, there's time passing from after the curse ended (in real time this was years ago now in GBF but the story doesn't advance in real time).
Her powers aren't very well explained, her time as a ghost (literally 100+ years) made her very lonely and befriended animal ghosts. After her curse ended she kept her affinity with said animals and they are somehow still around with her. It's never explained why she has her ghastly powers and is possibly just a bonus side effect to the fact she survived Celeste's curse.

No it isn't, because stuff like that helps determine other factors such as corner carry or meter build. If you have two buttons, one is a better poke but leads to a worse combo and the other is a worse poke but allows a different more damaging combo that creates a choice. If both buttons lead to the same combo then you can disregard the worse poke. Granblue Fantasy is one of the most annoying things in the world for me. I am beyond frustrated with the existence of this game.

It has phenomenal artstyle, I honestly fell in love with it. Characters are interesting, I like them a lot, everyone, boys, girls. Races are nice to look at. I'd do everything to play it but I cannot stand gacha games, and thus cannot bring myself to play it. I just want Granblue's artist/Granblue franchise to get a proper "normal" game so I can play it, FUCK.

Because if it had been years, Ferry's family would've made it back. Whatever the undisclosed amount of time was, it was NOT a long period as Ferry's family survive the trip and cure the sister but they could not make it back because the island literally became unreachable.
The main cast crew has unique airship that let them pass through the mist and make it to the island. Also the primal was completely unknown to even exist to the population besides the doctor and if I recall right, the doc basically died in order to summon Celeste in the first place without benefitting from the curse. It did take over a hundred years for anyone to beat Celeste, mainly because no one even fucking knew it was there and the cause of the whole situation until the MC crew arrived and detected the entire situation was the works of a primal being.

They needed something cooler that was still coherent with Granblue's theme like"Rush towards the sky" or whatever.

Being able to combo of strange stray hits is a form of depth. Changing your combo to attain different goals add depth. Knowing that the optimal combo is j.C j.A j.D Special rather than j.A j.B j.C Special isn't depth.

Do you know what execution requirements are? if everyone can do the same super simple combo every time that makes a game way less interesting. I can hope I have a special that would work, but if instead of an auto combo I could go A, f.C (which hits high) I might be able to figure something out.
