When the enemy smirks you will always miss your next attack on them, which wastes 2 press turns. Also, since the boss will always crit with a smirk, that's one additional turn for them.

Get ready for a game that gets progressively worse as it progresses. Naraku is the best part of that game. Navigating Tokyo is a nightmare and if you get Neutral end you’re faced with tedious sidequest with no quest markers or hints or anything. Apocalypse is the superior game.

Sort of but not really, it is easier to get a desired ending compared to IV since it really just boils down to one text choice. It is more fun to flip flop between being a goody two shoes and a asshole and seeing how your party members react.

No. It's a lot more linear than IV. They pretty much give you two options in every dialogue (it's usually not even a law/chaos type thing) where you act like a prick or a nice boy. Nobody's trying to make you go Law and Chaos

Apocalypse has only two routes, and the route-split is based on a single obvious choice.
However it's also obnoxiously power-of-friendship dialogue or kill-all-my-friends-ultimate-edgelord dialogue.
The new writing team really fucked a lot of things up with the gameworld by suddenly and randomly uniting all the cities by a public television broadcast, taking away all the isolated desperation that a lot of the cities in vanilla IV had. Also Flynn talks way too much and sounds really weird.

No, Nocturne isn't that hard.
It's also the most mild in terms of story, it's better off as your first SMT game because it's missing a lot of mechanics and depth that later games have, mostly instead praised for its atmosphere, setting and music.

SMT difficulty is vastly over exaggerated, because of memes, and Youtuber's in terms of Nocturne. Matador is a meme, use Daisoujou, fuse the other Fiends when you can, keep Focus on Demifiend, and remember to abuse Dark/Bright Might on bosses. Enemies don't start cock blocking Physical until late in game, and it's only really one enemy in specific. Girihemkala.

Unpopular opinion, my favourite mainline is the IV duology. Nocturne is great too but you'll find some old PS2 jank along with everything just coated with loneliness. After all, It's the only mainline that takes place where EVERYONE (minus a select few) gets wiped out.
