Perfectly fine game gets a soulless remake

Not gonna lie. I would totally go for Water over WATER.

Don't act like I don't see that bottom text scribbled out in MS Paint.
the new textures look good but the changed UI elements look like shit
Unironically FFX
they seem to have stayed true to the original design
bad example
Thief
Bioshock
What the fuck happened
that is indeed the question, what happened?
Square outsourced this game to some chink third party "company" and forever ruined this game. It was by no means the best FF title, but I certainly enjoyed it, and the PS2 aesthetics were (and still are) much more pleasing than whatever it is that they shat out for the "remaster"
What was wrong with it?
It looks good and kept true to the original with only a few sprite changes.
based and pailpilled
I FUCKING LOVE WATER
Yeah I agree Water looks quality
youtu.be
good lord
Any recent games with nice water?
almost all Atlus games
they turned my big tiddy pale goth goddess into a retarded bratz doll
That's a cute Quagsire
>something made with hard work and love, made with limited tools
>20 years later some dickhead who wants some more money runs it through an HD filter and put in new voice acting
>inb4 mario all stars autist
Pretty sure they either lost some of their resources (same thing that happened with ff8. which is why we don't have ff8 remakes or ports to modern consoles) or they lost the rights to some of the meshes or textures from the original game.
Pokemon FR/LG
Crash Bandicoot 1,2,3.
Crash Team Racing
Spyro 1,2,3.
RE2 "remake"
Come to think of it anything made since gen 7 and onwards pretty much.
>drinking water instead of water
Do people really do this?
I hate beating a dead horse, but dark souls remaster
dark souls is not a perfect game by any means, but re-releasing it as what is essentially a patch (which is worse than the original btw) isn't a power move in my book
How is it worse
Everything I read about the remaster says its better in every conceivable way
Except lighting
Honestly I think the changes are a matter of personal taste.
Halo CE anniversary, at least they learned from their mistakes and made a great work with Halo 2 anniversary.
Reminder
>Remaster =/= Remake
Soul - Souless
Spyro
If dipshits don't know the difference, why should any of us make the distinction
Based
It had been so long since I'd played FF X when I played the PC version last year that I didn't even notice.
If you keep saying "water" over and over it starts to lose its meaning
To educate those dipshits as well as separate from them.
>Pokemon FR/LG
Aside from the bit of extra handholding at the beginning, what's wrong with FR/LG?
Except lightning.
While it does:
>Not auto-equip consumables to your hotbar
>Let you choose the amount of consumables to use (ie humanity, soul items)
>Let you consume Estus as a phantom
>Let you hold the consumable button to re-select your first item
>Increased resolution
>Increased framerate (especially on areas like Blighttown)
>Let you switch all joined covenants at a bonfire
>Bonfire added nearby Vamos so you don't have to stab your way through skeleton circus just to upgrade your fire/chaos weapons
>Reconfigurable buttons
>Improved the lighting on areas that desperately needed it, like lower Blighttown that shouldnt be in perpetual darkness
Nothing, it's the game that got a souless remake in the form LGP/E.
>water thread
I have been waiting ALL DAY for this!!!
PAILPOSTERS AND WATERPOSTERS WHERE WE AT
There was a point in halo 2 anniversary that I stopped and stared at how great it looked, then getting curious as to what it originally looked like I switched the graphics and realized that it was already on the old graphics, that point on I was not impressed with the remaster.
>shit game gets a soulless remake
2.0 is literally a sequel
I've always tought Halo 2 graphics were pretty meh and in comparison to Halo CE they didn't age well at all. Some arbiter levels look nicely on regular Halo 2 but most of it, specially the New Mombasa levels which look way better remastered.
It's more like a 1.5. Lots of recycling of quest plots and assets.
This
I skipped buying the pc version only because of the """"remastered""" music and textures

Water feels very 90s. WATER is timeless.
I thought he was being ironic. Equally as stupid, but I didn't wanna say anything...
Secret of Mana, end the thread
TWEWY
Quake II was already soulless, Quake I was better
Water has that 90s retro look, WATER is just too modern for me. I have a soft spot for the classics.

Why do you niggers not be posting Sticker Star?
Did you read the OP?
No shit the remake looks better, but this is a video game not a picture book and they really fucked some of the gameplay while nerfing a game already made for kids.
user please define what you think a "remake" is?
Final Fantasy VII. Clearly aimed at zoomers with that boring FFXV combat.
These 'remakes' bother me to a weird degree. Like, they don't look better, just different. It's like, why even bother?
Find a more soulless remake than Final Fantasy 6 for ios
Protip: you can't
One of the most pointless remakes ever. May as well just play the original on backwards compatibility since the remake doesn't add a ton outside of bowser jr mode. No wonder it bombed hard piracy probably had some impact on that too though
Dungeon Keeper
I must be the only 30+ year old JRPG fan who doesn't mind ARPG battle systems instead of turn-based.
I stand corrected
Wasn't Dungeon Keeper a straight up new game? So it shouldn't count.
Take it from a guy who tried it, it feels perfect in game.
this isnt a remake its a side grade
that's not what that picture is referring to
Today I will remind them.
they both look good to me.
are their any remakes or modern games with SOUL?
I'd say cuphead and Resident Evil 1 remake are some.
they ruined the atmosphere of the entire game desu
I’ll NEVER forget about this one, you fucking french faggots
looks great until you realize everything runs at 20fps.
That's...partly the problem.
The SNES version was great for its time but keeping EVERYTHING accurate to that level doesn't translate well into 3D. It went from a 2D adventure into a 3D mobile game equivalent
FF5's is somehow worse
What the fuck. There should have been a point where someone said that it was a lost cause and they pulled out. That remaster is even more embarrassing than others because there wasn't even that much of a time gap.
The moon looks derpy as fuck in the remake.
They also completely annihilated the lighting, as well as adding fucking stupid eyeball weaknesses to literally every boss.
I thoughjt SM64DS was decent, but it was funny how much shit you could get away with Luigi's giant leaps and hover. I remember being able to get a star meant for one of the other characters.
My main issue is that they kept the visual style used for Dream Team and barely tweaked it. It makes it that more obvious that it's just another cash grab.
Same for Superstar Saga, but slightly justified, since it came out on Gameboy and it's more accessible as a remake, unless you emulate it whereas you can still play Inside Story on a fucking 3DS
Based and redpailled
Zero Mission
Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth
Metal Slug X
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
HeartGold and SoulSilver
>Bowser Jr. Mode
If that was anything like the bonus mode in the Super Star Saga remake, it sucked ass.
Halo 2 legit looks mostly like ass, and that's largely due to bungie dropping its lighting engine when they realized the og xbox couldn't run it.
