I liked it quite a bit but I'm not super critical about digimon game quality so I can't reliably say it's the best to start with. I had both versions but I gave away Dusk to my brother after only an hour of playtime in it so I don't know if there's much different beyond a change in color palette in the hub world.

As a huge Pokemomfag myself, I greatly enjoyed Dusk. My brother had Dawn and I don't think there are too many differences.
