I stopped playing Kamidori Alchemy Meister over a year ago, picked it up today and have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm in chapter 3, can anyone please give me a little bit of advice or a general rundown on what to do? I tried to just follow quests, but one requires 20 wood and 20 good wood in 10 days. I have no idea how I'm going to get that in time or even where since I only have like 4 pieces of wood.

Don't do those, all of those quests are meant for NG+.

Reminder to read SeaBed as it is one of the few visual novels that can only be appreciated by empathetic adults. The writing and tone are entirely unique among the medium with the developers opting to avoid any description of emotions, letting the burden of understanding be placed on the reader, to make them actually think rather than being fed pre-conceived notions and attitudes. The writers refuse to dramatize the emotions of the characters for entertainment's sake.There are no dramatic payoffs or obvious catharsis. It's more of a mundane surrealist story but make no mistake, it is emotionally complex and thematically heavy with so many details and foreshadowing that it rewards multiple rereads. Rather than hooking you in, reading it is closer to experiencing a trance-like meditation. Most readers will find it boring as it is like the most anti-plotfag slow burn but if you are used to proper literature, then give it a go.

Yeah, that's probably the biggest problem with Kamidori. They made some "DLC" (I'm not sure if it was actually downloadable or if you had to buy the physical disk, but whatever) for NG+ that included the Deadbeat Dungeon (which was necessary since there's a bunch post-game content that's very high level (lvl 90+) and there's not enough content to smoothly level up your party to lvl 90 so the only way is to grind your ass off) and a bunch of those "collect a retarded amount of materials in a limited time period" quests that are meant to use up excess materials in NG+ when you can make furniture that shits out materials every day and shit like that. But since all of those features are available in a regular NG and the game never warns you that they're meant for NG+, most people end up thinking that the game is way grindier than it really is because they see the grind dungeon and the mass fetch quests and they don't know any better.

Once they get going they're great but the buildup takes 3-10 hours, I'm not willing to go through that.
