GameStop is fucking dead.

GAMESTOP STOCK DOWN 40%, CFO/CCO STEPS DOWN
good news friday fuck gamestop
All because tRUMP wants to tax PoCs to fund his fascist rule
as a nonmutt, why should i care?
and what the fuck is gamestop?
Again? If you can't keep executives for more than six months your organization is dead.
Bring on their death & closing sales.
Yay, let's all cheer for the death of games with physical copies and Amazon's NWO.
No one cares about you
Good riddance.
>he thinks Gamestop is done
Battletoads will save Gamestop
If I trade in their stock will I be able to afford a game or just a few bucks back?
Gamestop is the scummiest, most jewish game retailer on the planet, they deserve to be mercilessly exterminated.
In the same way that online shopping and stores such as target and walmart killed toys r us, they are also killing gamestop. Why shop someplace dedicated to just games (or toys in toys r us's case) when you can find the same thing for cheaper at the same place you buy most other things?
It's a store that sells pop culture paraphernalia. also i think they started selling videogames on the side too.
BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY
>being happy about those good people losing thier jobs
Why are you guys such jerks?
Fuck 'em
Looks like Christine had the last laugh
Xhe is an immortal being, indeed
Because Gamestop is a terrible company and you working for them is below a fucking burger flipping nigger.
That's like their third CFO gone in one year. What the fuck?
>all that nuStarWars trash
no wonder they're going broke
Toys R Us died that way too
i'd agree with you if it were almost anybody but gamestop
fuck gamestop
That's not very polite. My local gamestop has always been pretty nice to me.
>nu starwars killed 2 companies because they're so shit
both incredibly sad and funny
thank fucking god fuck gamestop
cant wait for the closing all stores sales, gonna grab so many ds games desu
How good will the going out of business sales be? Think they'd have some newish vidya on sale?
At this point is there even a reason for Gamestop to still be around?
Hm. On the one hand, fuck them. They had this coming.
On the other, this leaves us with fucking WAL MART. Kinda torn here.
>supporting bad business practice
two points user
one its a minimum wage job, those workers will find another job almost right away since the demand for entry level jobs is high
two they can just support local small game stores, which actually gives a shit about vidya
What kind of redneck hillbilly town do you live in where wal mart is the only option?
memes
that one nigga trashing the store because of fallout 76 and MA'AM were god tier entertainment
how do i get battletoads?
Like 80% of America m8
Elkton Maryland.
As long as they don't go out of business before I get my collectors edition I don't care
TIME TO BUY, BOYS
Of what game?
>GameStop is fucking dead.
I've been reading this here for fucking years, I'll believe it when i see it.
As much as I hate the death of gaming retail stores, they were scamming people for yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars and getting away with it. They hot greedy as fuck. So whatever.
Ah shit, how am i going to buy my daily €200 steam credit
>trashing the store because of fallout 76
What?
will this finally end the reign of GameStop Pokemon distribution
>no case or manuals
yikes
>put all the little guys out of business
>goes out of business a few years later
thanks faggots
Maybe a better retailer will rise from the asses
TIME TO BUY THE DIP
Bannerlord
I was going to buy the Hollow Knight physical Switch release from them... But they charge at the bare minimum an 8$ "handling" fee. Get fucked.
how did you miss that

sorry i enjoy playing my games on a non hacked 3ds
I have some bad news for you son.
>staged shit is funny
kek
Gamestop doesn't pay their employees well. It also rips you off with used games.
Maybe they can just try to survive until 2020 when the next gen starts.
what did they expect, fucking never had battletoads
>that hobgoblina
it's literally the best fallout 76 review in existence
WAIT WAIT WAIT
IF THEY GO WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO GAMEFAQS?????
I NEED MY FUCKING WALKTHROUGHS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Only if you let them. I've ripped off GameStop way more than they ripped off me. One time they fucked up and gave you $48 for a few games that cost $20 and I used it to get like $500 in credit. Some shitty Spider-Man game and Garden Warfare 2. I bought out all the stock from Wal-Mart and Best Buy and sold it back to GameStop.
Scream and holler all you want about the death of the gamestop.
It was quite literally the only place to get physical niche titles without having to go through Amazon's terrible shipping.
Don't give a fuck what any of you say. Amazon's shipping process is fucking terrible and I've seen too many collector's editions get ruined because of it.
good riddance
>haha the last CFO must have been such a dumb ass, I'll save this company
>*accepts job offer as new CFO*
>*spends 5 minutes learning about GameStop's line of business
>oh, people buy games online now? bye
REAL gamer girl right there
Its true. Its Amazon or nothing now, sadly.
would tap that, huh?
I can literally still buy physical from any other electronics retailer.
Fuck GameStop.
Gamestop took a surefire hit of selling games and managed to piss off the people who make games, the people who distributed games and the people who buy games. In any business only the most inept manage to piss of every facet of their company that makes money.
Toys R Us didn't die because of Nu-Star Wars. Toys R US died from Bain Capital saddling it with an obscene amount of debt, getting impatient about them successfully paying it off then killing them by demanding they pay off the debt immediately because Capitalism means it's more profitable to kill off a company with bad debt than it is to let a successful company grow.
Yeah, good luck finding Etrian Odssey or any other niche at fucking target.

But then where will I buy my games?

>The chain that killed local run game retailers is dead
>Soon the US government will fuck the entire industry in the ass if they keep using lootboxes/microtransactions
>Implying I'm required to not like this
My local gamestop that I've gone to for like 20 years (Well, less in the last 5) just lost it's prestige status and the manager says they're probably gonna get axed soon. It feels bad, they're probably the last gamestop I know of that doesn't have ANY merch style shit besides game strategy guides. No figurines, no funko pop shit, no dvds, just vidya.
Eh, you'd be surprised. The one nearest to me (which is still 45 minutes away, mind) sold the second 3DS Senran Kagura game. Collector's Edition, too.
It's already out
STAAAH WHARRRRS
>muh niche games at gamestop
They stock maybe 3 copies of niche games, cut the shit with this stupid meme already. You're better off looking for it online.
Si senor

When I pre-order them, it's guaranteed to be there for me, so no.
>physical niche titles without having to go through Amazon's terrible shipping
don't you burgerclapistanis have more different types of stores? In europooria there are plenty of different stores selling physical games. Is everything a wallmart now?
its like a plague
entertaining videos on the internet
Because fuck digital.
A physical retailer that has massive direct competition from online stores is losing money?!?!?!
Next you're going to tell me blockbuster is going out of business
go away jeff bezos
their return policy for used games is hilarious, i hope they dont go out of business so i can continue playing every new ps4 game for a week for free
I can walk in, get my game, get home and start playing it within the span of 20 minutes. I'd have to wait at least two days if I bought it from Amazon.
If your city/town isn't that big a Wal-Mart coming will almost ensure the majority of other stores will die off. Before the one here came back in the late 90's we had about 5 or so major retailers, but now all that's left are Wal-Mart and Meijer.
where else am i gonna buy my collectible select store funko pops
I'M GONNA CUM
There's plenty of other stores that sell video games, but they're big name stores like Walmart, Target,e tc. They don't usually carry niche titles or even have the option for collector's editions.
#RESIST
What happens to their inventory when they go under? Will there be a blowout sale at gamestops or do the game companies prohibit super low prices
WTF BROS I WAS ABOUT TO APPLY THERE!
Well, fuck you.
Doubtful, especially since the industry is still trying it's damndest to force digital distribution only and lazy fucks are encouraging it as they don't want to leave their chair to go buy games at stores or even order physical product online.
>Is everything a wallmart now?
Or a Target. And Target is sinking fast.
No thanks, unless you are hot
"Brick and Mortar" sounds like "Rick and Morty"

Underrated post
You only get in store credit
I never saw the issue with gamestop, we had no local stores in my area and we didn't even have a walmart until the mid 2000s, but we had a gamestop when the gamecube came out. I guess if you lived in some city then the shitty local retailers that didn't have competitive prices didn't have a chance, but I'd take gamestop over some local shithole any day.
They deserve it for being dumb enough to sell used games at nearly full price. Like what the fuck did they expect? They make almost no money at all off new games and then they jew people that trade in games. They're shooting themselves in the foot with used games sales
How can they be saved?
Their business is kinda niche with digital distribution and stores being as overwhelming as they are.
Bye bye gamefaqs
Walkthrough fags literally on suicide watch
Pickle rick
>do the game companies prohibit super low prices
Only if its new. They don't give a shit about used copies.
What are the chances of liquidation sales?
Follow up, what are the chances that there will only be godawful used games left because people with no patience get the new shit early on when things are only like 10% off like toys r us?
Fuck... I don't want to get fired...
I've been a NEET for 8 years until I got a job at Gamestop. Now I'm 33 and this is my ONLY job.. if I get fired I'll kill myself...
Mine shoved them all in the back into a corner and don't even bother upkeeping it. The managers and workers never harass you to get GI subscriptions or warranties either. Surprised they haven't gotten into deep trouble as they aren't that aggressive regarding sales of extra useless shit.
>open and gut game cases
>still sell them as "new"
They deserve it.
Depends:
Most of the new release high value games will probably be pulled off the shelves to be sold in lots to pay off their debts. The remainder will be sold for minimal discounts depending on how far from the final closing day they are.
I.E
6+ Months out 10%
3+ Months out 15%
2 or closer >20%
It all depends on the amount of debt they have to deal with.
> Walk into Target with Grandmother
> She remarks how clean and organized everything is, how it's so very different than walmart

I want America to die just a little bit.
its gamestop, not gamespot
sometimes I need things same day and can easily acquire them in a short drive
but that's essentials like food or batteries or tools, there is no reason for brick and mortar game stores to exist
What are they going to do? Sue a company that's bankrupt? I'm sure the nickel they'll get will really pay off those arbitration fees.
What's going to happen in the upcoming years when mass shopping centers become obsolete?
That must get people really fucking confused
brick and mortar stores shouldn't exist for purely digital merchandise, but if the trend continues where there's almost no physical locations it's going to become the United States of Amazon and we're all fucked
if you return it sometime on the seventh day every used game is totally free. sometimes i tell them i got a disc read error if im not finished and they just give me a different copy and renew the seven-day policy lol
Amazon flying drones everywhere equipped with weapons.
But what's going to happen when people don't even need to leave their house for anything? What's going to occupy all those obsolete retailers?
>GameStop is fucking dead.
Aren't they a few years late on realizing that?
Empty and run down. It's how slums and ghettos start. No businesses = no jobs = higher crime rate.
that's what i'm saying, businesses will be smothered out by amazon and all those jobs will get absorbed. Then people who used to work in the service industry will be forced to starve or work for amazon
>What's going to occupy all those obsolete retailers?
they will all be bulldozed and that space will be turned into beautiful parks :)
I wish...
other large retailers are getting wise in respect to online shopping, and in-store pickup.
they'll mark everything up 30% then mark down 10%
You act like laziness is the only/primary reason people buy digital instead of physical.
If it's old stock odds are they will just destroy it to write it off.
Gamestop is personally responsible for untold amounts of old games and consoles getting taken out of circulation as they destroy them rather then sell them off heavily discounted.
What else is there, aside from a physical version not existing?
lmao. That's when we'll get Amazon stores outside. They've already anticipated that future. Rows and rows of online retailers IRL where you can collect orders without paying in-store.
I’d rather buy physical copies from Walmart than GameStop. Shit or at least Best Buy. Any brick and mortar store. GameStop used to only be good for used hardware and controllers. And you can’t even trust that shit anymore.
I didn't play fallout 76
>too lazy to leave your beanbag to go to a store to buy a game

It is depressing to see the amount of Star Wars merch they have for The Last Jedi. I've seen figures for that movie that went unsold everywhere.
>t. disc rot enthusiast
"b-but if you get disc rot you just store them improperly!"
yeah let me know how that's going for you in 15 years. i'll chance the servers going down over guaranteed physical deterioration.
There’s a version of this story where the solution to the Amazon problem is more online retailers, not B&M stores.
Yeah all these fucking lazy retards with their digital movies. They're just too lazy to rewind their VHS tapes. and DRIVING to the store?!!? I swear nobody knows how to use a horse-drawn carriage anymore
I WISH there was one in the nearest 50 miles.
This place sucks.
You aren't helping your case, you lazy fat ass.
Good. Gamestop was the Blockbuster of video games.
Less wasted space, better redundancy. If my home burned down tomorrow, I’d have to buy a new computer and reinstall Steam, all my games would still be there. Can you say the same for the equivalent two bookshelves full of melted former-discs and former-carts?
best buy is going to be gone soon. Target.
Pretty fucking lazy of you to send this through the computer. What, don't have a carrier pigeon? HAHA I bet you're fucking 500 pounds

i don't buy physical solely because i don't want a bunch of shit in my house.
Exercise, your body will thank you.
Let's all laugh at an industry that never learns anything te-he-he.
South Park was right yet again.
Gamestop won't be around, Digital already hurt their sales and once streaming becomes the standard people won't have a reason to shop at gamestop
>BUT STREAMING SUCKS!
Long as the industry want it and investors keep investing into it then it will happen.
Why Walmart? I'd prefer buying games at fucking EB. Both try to upsell warranty, preorders, and handjobs when I'm getting checked out. EN sells more niche games here, even if they also sell more Funco Pops.
>be me going to gamestop for some new shit
>Did yOu pReOrdER??

quick rundown on the firing?
what the fuck what the fuck
Says the fat slob sitting in his extra comfy gaming chair. I'm using a standing desk with a treadmill. I've burned over 200 calories while arguing with your huge disgusting ass
There's a site that breaks down the numbers. Gamestop actually makes more profit selling those cheap plastic toys than used games. That's why half the store is toys now.
Pre-orders are 5 dollars you fucking aspie.
>Disc rot
What's gonna be digitalfags' next big boogeyman Yea Forums?
Given that vidya is just “music a decade late”, I know streaming in a certain form will come, but so far every approach has been a retarded failure, and even when streaming DOES come it won’t supplant ownership in the way that publishers want.
>bump desk
try losing a few pounds you fucking fattie. only fatasses have no awareness of their position
I hate this shit. They want to push their shitty site or preorders so often and it makes me never want to buy from them considering they have a tendency to preorder more than they actually have resulting in cancelled preorders which means you are fucked even more.
I respect you for sticking to not pre-ordering.
>Want to buy used game
>$1-2 less than brand new $60
>Trade in said $60 game
>Only worth $40 in store, $30 for cash
gamestop can fuck off
>When you can't afford healthcare but waste trillions in shitty plastic merchandise yearly
QUICK GET MORE FUNKO POPS IN HERE
I've rarely been to Gamestop. Is that an actual policy or were they just trying to scam a naive little kid?
I don't know who would buy a used copy for only 5 dollars less at the same store, but then again who knows which is used or new since they open the new ones.
If you preorder from my local GS I get unopened ones.
I don't want brick and mortar to go away, digital is even scummier, it is literal code they can make unplayable at anytime if you go online that essentially is 100 % profit with no resale value.
Walmart is driving down new game prices atm and amazon is matching, who thought walmart would save vidya?
Thinking about this again, it would probably be more like $25 cash and $30 in store.
Fucking newfag
This thread reminded me of this old rant video.

This is how disney makes its money, from toys made in mexico and china!
It's about time we put a GameSTOP to their business haha. GameSTOPPED.
Based grandma not giving money to tranny sympthaisers
Actually Disney makes it's money from its media networks, parks and resorts, followed by movies, followed by merchandising.
thewaltdisneycompany.com
It uses its movies to make IP, then it uses that IP in actually profitable endeavors.
What if steam shutdown?
>it uses its movies to make toys
>toys make money
I bump the desk with my penis
When Gamestop finally dies, it will be kinda sad, but meh. On the one hand, Gamestop is the only vidya dedicated brick and mortar store that im aware of (minus minor mom and pop shops), and at one point they actually offered good deals on used games. But then on the other hand, their prices have gone up compared to the old days, and so I havent bought any vidya there for the longest time. If theyre going to offer a meager discount for used games, then why wouldnt I just pay those 3 more dollars for the brand new copy? And yes, that was with the stupid ass rewards card.
Just bought 10,000USD worth.
This is why I back up my HDD as well. You backin up all them DVDs?
Gamestop has been dying for a long time user, its not really surprising.
I pirate all my games to restore my library, and then will probably continuing to pirate everything henceforth.
>trying to catch a falling knife
damn, things are going to get rough.
It's funny, isn't it? On paper the movies are a waste of time and money, but by culturing and maintaining the IP they can turn them into wildly successful theme parks, toys, and tv shows. It just goes to show sometimes what's the "obvious way to make money" isn't always the best. IP made before any of us were born are still selling successfully because Disney knows how to ration the idea over time, and lock it away so it can stay fresh when needed.
please be true for once
I’m not sure the movies are a waste of time or money just because they’re less profitable than other ventures. A few million in profit is less than a few hundred million in profit, but it’s still a few million dollars
Walmart and Best Buy are more than enough to cover the brick and mortar demand, with one-off mom and pop shops covering the used game market for large areas. GameStop is dying because they're caught in the middle. They want to be bigger than the small, used games stores, but they can't compete with Walmart or Best Buy. It's the same thing that happened to regional grocery stores. Either you shop at an mom and pop market, or you shop at a national brand. The middle died out.
>It's the same thing that happened to regional grocery stores.
[laughs in publix]
They get torn down and turned into a new McDonalds.
Right, but investors don't see that. They see "you spent X and earned Y, when you could have spent X and earned 2Y, why are you wasting my time and money doing when yields more?" Now we know that the first thing directly feeds the second in Disney's case, but there are countless examples of investors basically gutting long running businesses by forcing them to chase the more efficient profit at the cost of the overall health of the company. Then it crashes, the company goes under, and the investors swarm to the next business like locusts.
>regional grocery stores
Are actually doing okay right now, though. Ever since Whole Foods got bought by Amazon and lost all their hipster cred and/or Veblen Goods appeal, mid-size chains have been growing from disaffected customers.
Here on the east coast, at least, it’s been not insignificant.
t. In a leadership role at a mid-size east coast grocery chain that’s growing annual sales at a remarkable rate for the 5th consecutive year despite a new WF opening just down the street from us.
[cries in Penn Traffic]
dollar general is currently occupying that market though
That depends on the savviness of the investors. Lots of companies, especially conglomerates like Disney, are highly diversified. They do this because having 10-20 smaller but substantial revenue streams from different sources is an important buffer against a downturn in their cash cow’s market.
>EB
That’s still gamestop
How in the fuck is Dollar General capturing disaffected Whole Foods customers?
>be videogame company
>get extremely butthurt at legal shops reselling your used merch without paying you for it
>high speed internet becomes a thing
>now companies can sell digital licenses to games, killing two birds with one stone
>(1) digital media can't be pawned and resold
>(2) not even the person buying the game actually "owns" their game, more power for the companies
Yeah fuck them for trying to make money. Why would a business think it’s ok to do that?
I know. I'd still rather shop there than Walmart for games
>walk by gamestop
>see a Now Hiring sign
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
Never seen disc rot on anything except 1 anime DVD, a wind named amnesia, I have literally hundreds of old audio CD and CD-ROM from the 80's and early 90's and I'm pretty sure Blu ray disc last longer than those, it's a non issue. I understand not wanting discs because a game library can really take up space but so do the consoles and accessories and everything, my Virtual Boy and consoles on display used to be cool but now they're kind of annoying
INVEST
Or buy it from a digital store or pirate it to be playing within 5 or 10
FUCKING GAMESTOP
But I liked Blockbuster...
What is this guy going to do if GameStop goes down?
Nobody here should really care besides as a fuck you to them. Gamestop fucking sucks and I don't know anyone who goes there anymore
Disc rot is the meme “inevitability” but the reality is, hardware fails. Discs break, or get scratched. Over time, the lasers in consoles (at least older ones, I couldn’t speak to the current gen) get weaker and discs that once read fine start to fail. All hardware eventually dies.
The beauty of digital content is it’s easily, infinitely replicable. You can back up your HDD every day as long as you have the space. You can construct multi-layer redundant arrays of disks so that if one fails, no data is even momentarily lost and you can just swap the drive out like ejecting an empty magazine and replacing it.
Why anyone would voluntarily choose to not do that, and instead store tens of thousands of dollars worth of purely digital data on single, non-redundant, non-copyable pieces of plastic storage media that they have to handle with their fingers before and after each use is entirely beyond me. It’s like vinyl record collecting with none of the charming low-fidelity sound because the 1s and 0s on your discs are literally identical to what I could pull all day every day from Steam’s repos or my backup disk images.
This only works if the company is still positioned to do well. What gamestop is going through isn't jus ta PR blunder, they're simply just fading to shifts in buying habits like Toys R Us or Hollywood/Blockbuster did.
What can Gamestop do to not lose business to either Amazon, digital distribution, or other retailers like Walmart, who also carry the latest games? It used to be their selection, but Amazon and online shopping as a whole does better than them now. Their only edge is for the market of people who can't wait less than 7 days to get an older game in the mail.
but user then i can't resell my garbage for 10% of what i paid for it!!
>in the mail
This is the real problem. Unless you sell a product where a person would be terribly inconvenienced by waiting for it to come in the mail (and it isn’t 7 days now that Amazon’s Prime meme slaps free two-day shipping on just about everything), your business is going to die to the internet.
its like GAME but stopped
It's ma'an not man!
Dude, there's plenty of other stores you can work on.
I remember back in my teens buying a new super mario galaxy 2 copy, but the copy wasn't wrapped. I hesitated and told them I wanted it "new", but they just insisted it was, so I went with it.
It was a gift anyway.
Kys fantavision you enormous faggot physical is garbage and a dead concept. Digital is the future. Deal with it, faggot
since gamestop owns gamespot I hope this means gamespot is fucking dead
Archive of that thread.
CBS owns Gamespot.

FUCKING GAMESTOP
we turn that space into something useful. apartments, offices, warehouses, anything. Look forward to it!
You liked a near monopoly on Movie and video game rentals that frisked you for every dime you had so you could rent something for upwards of 2 nights for 3x the amount of time anywhere else charged for 7?
God you're stupid.
>Everything consists of just an endless sprawl of houses and offices
t. brainlet zoomer
Cringe.
And warehouses.
Welcome to the new normal. Either the company delivers it, or a paid driver shops it from a warehouse-esque barebones “retail outlet”. In the future, businesses will not spend time or money appealing to your aesthetic sensibilities except in their web app, because there’s no chance of an upsell when a proxy is using a list to shop for you.
>future location of an abandoned factory factory
I don't care nig, they had Spyro on display
>Zoomer
I had multiple mom and pops video stores around me to choose from during the 90s.
Blockbuster was a trap in my town for commuters.
So did your mom and pops store. and chances are the M&P store had it available to rent and buy more often than blockbuster did.
Good fucking riddance
I didn't realize best buy was going out of business too
Fuck off Yahtzee.
Why the fuck do people buy pop culture shit?
It feels the hole left by a lack of religion.

I wonder how many they actually sell since they don't have boxes or manuals yet still have the gall to want 25+ bucks for games from known franchises even though the game is over a decade old.
>1 month timeframe
crypto "investors" and their knowledge of markets are a cancer
As someone who actually owns his own private gaming store, heres what a REAL gaming store should sell
>Consoles
>Controllers
>Video Games for every console including PC physical copies
>Pre Built PC's
>PC Parts
>Gaming Merch thats either behind the counter or in a corner of the store people rarely go
I love having my own gayman business. I don't need to promote shitty subscription fees to get people to come back.
We also buy broken consoles, strip them down and sell the parts to people who want them. We also do third party console repairs for 50 bucks a console depending on whats wrong with it
t. GameStop cashier
BUY THE DIP
getting things on same day
Isn't that essentially a monopoly?
>hurr durr amazon kill them
>prices higher than any other retailer
>selling open product as new
>tried to get into clothing and figures like those japanese overwatch nendroids/figmas, sells everything at an additional 200% markup making it cheaper to import directly from japan
>tried to sell phones, again applied retarded markup when you can go next door to the actual provider of services
>tried to sell retro carts and discs, turns out they have been selling bootlegs and charging more than the average ebay nigger
>55.99 used games
>multiple times they have price gouged games and lied about stock trying to sell games at 3x the MSRP, Xenoblade Chronicles being an easy look up of this faggotry
Gamestop and all subsidies clearly asked for their current situation but what would i know i'm just a dog.
what planet are you from?
Why hide the merch? wouldn't that shit sell like wildfire?
Oh boy, I'm sure the warehouse workers will be even more ecstatic. Amazon doesn't give a shit about the safety and welfare of its warehouse workers.
Someone I knew worked for them, got injured on the job due to something stupid on Amazon's part, were slow to take responsibility for her injury and cover her bills.
Well said my communist friend
I remember 2007 or so when PA did probably it's last good comic about gamestop dying off from digital. Well it only took 10 years.
>it is literal code they can make unplayable at anytime if you go online that essentially is 100 % profit with no resale value.
This is my issue with digital.
I think the problem is the name
GameSTOP
The stop is such a negative term these days
They should rebrand to GameZOOM
yes, /biz/. Buy it ALL
Hopefully they'll just become a rental place like an old blockbuster. That gamestop powerpass plan they cancelled was a total let down.
It wont die any time soon, sony owns gamestop, remember?
You've clearly never worked for the assholes. Shit is soulcrushing
at this point it's a glorified electronics pawn shop which you can sometimes track down interesting used games in.
The sheer amount of "PS3 power cables" they're selling for like 3 dollars each is hilarious. The peripherals and cables take up half the store now
This, sadly. Comic con is practically the modern day equivalent of the Islamic Hajj.
Happy 12th birthday, man! How's the day been treating you?
you can make more money being a night stocker at a grocery store than you would as the store manager at Gamestop
You looking forward to E3, user?
Of course, inshallah.
Gamestop is pretty shit and all, but this pretty much marks the death of brick and mortar game stores which is sort of depressing.
i heard the CEO resigned is that true?
Why do people bring up Toys R Us like it was a shifting of times? It was a mismanaged and debt laden company in the US. It's still does well in other markets so it wasn't some a sign of changing trends, just inevitability of bad management in the region. It was bought to fail.
What Gamestop could leverage is used games in good quality across multiple generations like a legit pawn shop, but with country-wide distribution availability like eBay. Do what Bestbuy is doing and leverage the fact you can buy things in person with a network of stores across the country that online retailers lack. They just refuse to expand this past a pilot program and threw away decades on only carrying the newest things all while doubling down on silly geek toy trends.
Gamestop does remind me a lot of Blockbuster after Netflix took off though. They realized they underestimated their power and are in no position to make the moves to expand as they need to because it didn't seem like a viable future a decade ago.
>Nu-Wars merch and not a game in sight.
No wonder the place is fucking dead.
The only people GameShit fucks over harder than it's customers are it's employees.
>Macho Ma'am Tranny Savage, snap off my slim jim OH YEAHHH!
disney killed toys r us. you browse /toy/ don't you?
Has more to do with high nigger population than low jobs. The poorest white neighborhood has less crime than the richest black
Gamestop isn't that bad. I remember forever ago I traded in a PS2 and a bunch of shovelware/common games and because of a trade-in deal I was able to walk out with a new Xbox 360 and a few games on store credit alone.
gamestop's problem is they're a boutique store but they focus on the common shit that can be purchased anywhere like COD
>GameStop is fucking dead.
Boomer here; this meme is older than you. GameStop isn't going anywhere. They don't cater to actual gamers, they cater to children who don't know any better and their parents and grandparents who don't know a damn thing about video games.
>Why anyone would voluntarily choose to not do that, and instead store tens of thousands of dollars worth of purely digital data on single, non-redundant, non-copyable pieces of plastic storage media that they have to handle with their fingers before and after each use is entirely beyond me.
You get it cheaper at the outset, can lend it to people with ease, and have the novelty collectible if you're into that.
Meanwhile, by the time your physical media dies, pirating the digital version is child's play.
But this is a failure of other retailers to take online sales seriously. Not Amazon's fault for being the first/best. You guys act like we should prop Gamestop up just so Amazon will have competition. That's fucking retarded. Weak companies need to die. If nobody can come up with a better system than Amazon, then oh well. Don't cry about market forces just because a company you don't like wins out.
This unironically. Some user was stating that all this pop culture frenzy for marvel movies, star wars, and disney in general are effectively a new form of worship since most of these people are self proclaimed atheists. No more gods, only the avengers and pop vinyl figures to fill the void
>new
Isn't that just idolatry?
Physical is just as bad anymore. A lot of games are simply unplayable without patches and updates. The disc barely has any content and you have to download a 10GB update day one.
The real redpill is to just stop buying newer games
ugly
Even religious people buy things they like you retard.
>Best Buy
>Amazon
>Target
>Your local mom and pop shops
>Dead
The point of globalism is one brown race with no culture, no social identity, no religious identity, only customer identity. You won't be christian or muslim, you'll be Marvel or DC.
The craziest thing for me are the people who are actively invested in stuff like the latest Avengers movie beating Avatar at the box office. They're hoping a Disney movie can make more money for Disney than another Disney movie.
You're speaking with a child user, only a child would make a point that stupid and use "Some user" as proof. So of course, being a child they don't care about history, last thing he would know about is idolatry. Which is ironically hilarious considering religion has the Original story of idolatry with Moses showing up with the 10 commandments.
>You won't be christian or muslim, you'll be Marvel or DC.
Gee whiz user. Why'd you leave out Jewish?
They should release exclusive pc physical copies, limited editions or anything pc related. Why is pc all digital only? This is why I pirate every pc game, it's literally easier than using steam or whatever. Damn shame, I would like to actually go to the store and buy games.
>Live by Target and Best Buy
Feels good to have options
because jews made both of these religions
Yeah people are just retarded. They bring in madden 93 and expect to get $59 for it.
>you guys by the end of next year
I can't wait for gamestop to close. I've never worked for a closing company. I hope I get to steal some stuff or get great deals.
R.I.P. just like Blockbuster. One day you guys will be posting a pic of Gamestop saying “take me back”
>next minute some retard comes around to take over gamestop
why won't they just let it fucking die
Based bizposter.
>tfw moved to a southern shithole state and Gamestop was literally my only good option for buying physical games locally.
RIP me I guess.
>You won't be christian or muslim, you'll be Marvel or DC.
so basically more console war bullshit
LET THE DIE I SAY!
At least console wars were never literal wars.
I buy all my physical games from Amazon, user. The service is better, the shipping is cheaper, and they don't send me beat-up LE boxes. Almost every LE I've bought from Gamestop has come in a damaged box.
Give it time.
Yes but pretty much every religion raises up some kind of object to worship whenever priests aren't available, and they usually sell it hand-over-fist to worshippers for a tidy profit too. The difference with modern object-worship is that there's no deity or creed attached to it, they're just pure automatons for consumerism, they don't worship pops or any of the other plastic shit they buy, they've just been socially conditioned to get a dopamine hit when they buy worthless shit that presses their advertising buttons.
This. Just let Amazon take over at this point, they're here until they become a monopoly and they get broken up.
They're literally the Blockbuster of video games. Doesn't help that they did nothing to fix their shitty reputation.
Anti whites crash and burn!
Watch There Will Be Blood
...
This balding onions infused fuck still speaks with annoying pauses every fucking phrase. Still reads the raw fucking articles without summarizing the important points. Still a fucking quarter pounder.
S
A corporation built on ripping kids off. I'm glad it's dead.
>why should i care?
GameStop is the leading reason why games are not $60 year round on Amazon. Well, for systems that actually matter.
GameStop gives people the option of boycotting a game by buying it used (retards do this).
GameStop sells opened, gutted case, games for new. Yet also has a large return policy which is abused like a rental system, making it even more of a scam for "new" buyers.
>tripfag lives in rural area
>tripfag willingly gives up his coarse location on Yea Forums of all fucking places
If there's proof tripfags are retarded, you are it.
I like the idea of gamestop, the execution is a total shitshow
Remember when games would actively make gamestop-exclusive editions and would end up tanking themselves trying to appeal to a brick and mortar store that demanded special deals and offers but didn'taccount for the majority of game sales? That shit was fun. I love not having a complete product unless I deal with the most cancerous retailer in history.
Them and fucking radioshack deserve the dustbin of history.
Borderlands 3
The massive amount of unsold StarWars merchandise was supposedly the final nail in the coffin for Toys R Us.
>Apply
>They never call me
Why in the hell would you buy any Funko Pop at all.
Here's two tips from an employer: If you're registering a regular job, never mention your education, and don't apply online. Most of the time online applications are ignored and only used to get numbers and sell it to ad/spam agencies
GameStop is not GameSpot.
>Ebay
>Amazon
???
