Why was it so fucking good?
What went right?
unovabortions are the new genwunners
Sexy animals
Culmination of most of the positive elements of the series up until that point.
Subtle Pokégirl thread? Based OP.
It was a proper sequel that built upon what was good about the previous games instead of "grey" like we all expected. It also had a really good post game.
good postgame means your last meaningful impression isn't the conclusion to a cookie cutter pokemon plot.
Every gen is the new genoners
OP is legitimately the only pokemon game I've actually enjoyed. It had a uniquely somber mood, the music was incredible and the story was bizarre but poignant. I actually spent 70 hours playing this shit in 2014.
Tried X a few months later and it never clicked in comparison..
I enjoyed Red and Silver. I think it just depends on your age.
Unironically Satoru Iwata
They were gonna do their usual third version shit until Iwata said "Dude the 3DS is coming out, if you're still gonna make something for the DS at least put some effort into it". Only then did they come up with the idea to make them sequels.
We have never had a period where gen 6 or gen 7 fans started shitting on literally every game in the series other than their favorite one en masse. It's been gen 5 all this time. They're the ones responsible for almost all of the doomposting and are a large contributor to Pokemon's reputation for having one of the worst fanbases of all time.
What?
It's not as good as being 10 years old and playing pokemon red on christmas 1999
Ah yes, the sequel to the games that killed the series
Anyone else find this game legitimately hard?
This. And to play it during the hype when Pokémon was the biggest thing on earth made it all the more special.
Wrong.
Unova fans have actual reason to like their games though
Pokemon is regarded as one of the worst fanbases because Pokemon fans love to swallow shit from Gamefreak. If anything the one nice quality of genwunners is how they recognize Gamefreak is shit.
Give it a few more years
I was speaking in terms of tone and design direction. Gen V made the games much more story-driven rather than feeling like an adventure.
It isn’t objectively a bad thing and I know a lot of people love Gen V for the story, but I personally hate that direction.
>gf puts loads of effort in Black and White 2, makes the biggest new dex, try something new with plot and characters
>universally panned, normies give it a reputation as “the worst one”, screeching about trash/gears/ice cream
>gf never tries to make a big dex again and every 3DS era game has an absolutely comical amount of unused, unfinished context but is met with high praise
It’s all so tiresome
Theres different levels of goose threat?
most overrated pokemon games
...
what's with the sudden praise
thought you motherfuckers hated it when it came out?

Post kino pokemon music
>saw this on clearance sale in Sainsbury's
>for whatever reason, didn't buy it
>Went back a few days later, after changing my mind
>It was gone
I fucked up
What are the common threads between Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Paper Mario "fans?"
What did you get from Sainsbury's?
BW2, Platinum and Soul Silver were the goat games

Best battle theme in the entire series right here
you can just emulate it. there's no reason to buy old games unless you're a collector.
I can't remember.
I used to go in there all the time and impulse-buy whatever games they had on sale at the time though
the good old days
Doesn't have the same feel as playing it on the toilet with a wine red DSi XL with great speakers.
Quite literally the worst of the town themes in gen 4. There's so many better ones I don't know why I see this one get posted so often.

Unironically it's because of social media.
