Hopefully never.
It would only be more like Quantum break than Alan wake.
The story would be shoehorned and the combat either the same or worse
As much as I love AW, I don't like the execution of the game, great story and setting. shit gameplay that just seemed like an afterthought
>shit gameplay
I liked the gameplay and how you could run out of bullets and have to run to the nearest light source to survive. It made for intense moments on the highest difficulty.
Probably never, unfortunately.
Remedy can't find a publisher that isn't shit. They never seem willing to fund a sequel, and the games they do fund always seem to end up being exclusive to terrible platforms. (Reminder that the PC version of Quantum Break was exclusive to Windows 10 and the Windows Store until they caved because everyone uses Steam and it was too soon for a Windows 10 exclusive to succeed. Now their next game is exclusive to Epic Games Store, apparently.)
American Nightmare killed the franchise with its shit plot. It was supposed to be like an episode of the Twilight Zone, but none of the events in the supposed episode made any sense.
>comet crash lands in an oil field
>somehow this causes people to go insane
>somehow there's something going on at an observatory
>also some weird war between light and dark
Now, a lot of that makes sense in the context of Alan Wake's story, but it was not a fucking episode of any Twilight Zone show I can imagine. What it should have been is that you were dropped into the middle of a B-movie, which the Dark then took over.
>As much as I love AW, I don't like the execution of the game, great story and setting. shit gameplay that just seemed like an afterthought
Learn to punctuate properly, please.
Can anybody explain why Alan Wake was popular at all? The gameplay was horrible, the controls were ass and so many levels were just narrow corridors.
>Now their next game is exclusive to Epic Games Store, apparently.
Christ almighty, they never learn, do they? Guess I'll just pirate it.
>shit gameplay that just seemed like an afterthought
I wish there's a version that uses American Nightmare's movement and combat instead. The shitty inertia thing they have in AW was really annoying.
Amazing atmosphere and the story was intriguing. I've definitely played worse games.
Thats you're only arguement? how sad
It was basically Stephen King meets Twin Peaks: The Game.
I don't think a franchise can be ruined by the plot of an arguably non-canon and deliberately campy stand-alone DLC.
Besides, American Nightmare was mostly pieced together from an Alan Wake 2 prototype which never made it off the ground.

Therefore, I think American Nightmare is a symptom of the franchise being dead, not the cause.
It was the OG walking simulator with an abstract 2deep4u story.
It's not an argument, you subhuman retard. I'm literally just asking you to learn how to punctuate so that your posts are more readable.
sorry officer; ill try harder more from here on forward
at least it tried to have some gameplay instead of giving you the illusion of choice
Alan Wake was a frustrating franchise. The lighting tech was incredible, but it had some of the worst animations in all of gaming. It's story is also complete nonsense.
American Nightmare made huge strides in the gameplay department by introducing a shit load more guns than the base game and a greater assortment of enemies.
Also the combat mechanics had potential. Don't misunderstand, in Alan Wake 1 they were VERY rough and enemy types had zero variety; but I actually spent quite a bit of time in American Nightmare's endless wave mode. Pity AN's story was utter garbage.
It wasn't campy. It just didn't accomplish what it set out to do. The premise was that Alan Wake was in one of the Twilight Zone episodes he wrote, and I utterly failed to believe that premise once I played the game. It did not feel like he was stuck in one of his episodes, it felt like he had been transported to New Mexico for no real reason and he was just making shit up as he went along.
>walking simulator
Alan Wake is a third person shooter, dude.
>Can anybody explain why Alan Wake was popular at all?
Sure. I'll try.
>The gameplay was horrible,
Many people disagree with this opinion.
>the controls were ass
Many people disagree with this opinion.
>and so many levels were just narrow corridors.
I think this is an exaggeration. There were few indoor areas, and while the outdoor areas were linear, the most of the play area wasn't narrow, at least not in comparison to any other linear action game. Feel free to cherry-pick a few examples but I didn't get the feeling of being trapped in narrow "corridors" when I played the game.
Bought it on Steam for peanuts and tried playing it. What the fuck's wrong with the camera? It's always at an angle, making the shooting and even just walking in a straight line really awkward.
Will life-is-strangle and other quirky walking simulators suffer the same music licensing hell as Alan Wake?
>the same 4 enemies: the game
Hopefully never. Gameplay was dull as shit
you people are stupid as fuck and I wish death upon you all
It was campy. But, regardless of that, I agree that it didn't accomplish what it set out to do.
At least the arcade mode is pretty good, once you get good at the game.
WARRIORS
TORCHBEARERS
COME REDEEM MY DREAMS
We're just calling TPS we don't like walking Sims now?
Life is Strange was third person too.
And so was Abzu. AW isn't just 'third person', though, it's a fucking shooter.
>Many people disagree with this opinion.
The DLC was really good.
He's so fat he counts himself as multiple people
Careful with those bantz, user. You'll hurt somebody.
Are you just gonna ignore the shooter part?
It's not a third-person shooter, though, so your post is nothing more than non-sequitur word vomit.
you're right guys, everyone who ever said they liked Alan Wake was actually me, I post a lot
you are me and me is you
So it's okay for to acknowledge that the game was popular, i.e. that people liked the game, but when points out that people liked the game, it's a lie.
wew
The idea of Ameican Nightmare is that Alan took advantage of both his fiction alternating powers and the fact that night springs is supposed to be a "weird things that actually happened" show to alterate reality itself and get to meet his wife for a while.
