Ventrue are good at what they do, making them a poor fit for it already. Inbred furries fit much better.

Buy GoG because it inclused the unofficial patch. For the first playthrough play as a ventrue because they are the best clan and for the second playthrough play as a malkavian for the fun madman gameplay.

Toreador with max celerity and firearms is great.
Its very easy to get into to.

Honestly the biggest recommendation for your first playthrough is don't be Malkavian or Nosferatu since they change how things play out a LOT and are better kept for subsequent playthroughs.
Also don't listen to the Toreadorfag, literally the worst AND most boring clan in the game and guns are garbage compared to melee.

I would go with GOG version, it has an unofficial patch that fixes a SHITTON of bugs.
Also, go Gangrel (brawler), Toreador/Ventrue (social focus) or Tremere (fucking vampire wizard) at first. They are pretty straightforward - leave the "wacky" clans like Malkavian or Nosferatu for a second playthrough. Invest in stealth/social skills - they'll help you solve problems quickly, especially at the beginning. Always remember to have at least some combat training - it'll come in handy later on. Late game will fuck you over if you don't have any dots in combat skills/combat disciplines/Thaumaturgy. Melee weapons trump ranged, generally. And remember that aside from three characters in the game, everybody wants to screw you over, so watch your back.
And don't open it.

There are reports of him being seen with a Tzmisce, but little do they know she's actually a Brujah, as Christof is her sire and she only has Viscissitude because she was a ghoul and ghouls can TECHNICALLY learn disciplines of the clan they are bonded to. Meaning you could end up with a situation where you've got a Malkavian teaching their ghoul Dementation, or a Tremere teaching their ghoul Path of Flame. Course it's also common practice to embrace your ghouls after a certain period of time, or at least the competent ones. The Prince of Los Angeles, a Toreador in the body of a thirteen year old boy, embraced his ghoul, a Mexican serial killer with Humanity 1, once he had spent something like 50 years in his service. That's one example. Others might try to make their ghouls produce revenants though, but that's more a Tzmisce and to a lesser extent Giovanni thing.
