It's not as difficult as it used to be. Back in the day pvp was unconsensual, that means anyone at any time could just come up to you and break your legs to steal your pants or break into your apartment to steal your belogings (alternatively they would decorate your place to look more awesome). Nowadays PvP is consensual and you can log out whereever you want, which is a big deal because your character stays permanently online at the position you leave it, but now nobody can kill it.

So are you forced to play online, you mentioned npcs, any solo mode?
