That... that's really not true at all. Your feet are full of blood and bone and there's a major artery that runs from your groin all the way down your leg and into your foot. If you cut that, you are GOING to bleed to death. Nobody is going to be able to save you in time if you're out in the middle of the forest when that happens.
Its true that there are people that prefer going shoeless, but those people usually wear cloth wraps or puttees for the feet that can take the little scrapes, abrasions and cuts from sharp rocks and such so the skin doesn't have to. Even those people are going to be on a constant lookout for sharp rocks, glass, nails and other man-made nasty bits for barefoot travelers. Have you ever heard of tetanus? Because this is how you get tetanus.
