G4 was only decent for its first 2 years or so, before becoming cucked. Even then, shows like Players, Cinematech, and Blister were all complete wastes of time. Portal was funny (and I wish it continued instead of ending), and I miss Electric Playground/Judgement Day, and the Tech-TV shows, X-Play and Screen Savers (Attack of the Show) were the final saving graces for the channel.

Will anything ever replace Cinematech and X-Play? Those were two of my favorite shows. Judgement Day was fun too. Things like noclip are kind of like Icons but I haven't really seen anyone else come up with web series that can replace gaps left by g4's demise.

A little bit of everything. Mismanagement, failure to adapt to trends of their audience (people into tech were quickly moving away from TV), and a little bit of wrong place, wrong time (see: Arena).

Weirdly enough, I feel like they could have survived had they made the transition from TV to web. Twitch is basically the modern day equivalent.

Techtv and the G4-TechTV was a great time. I honestly thought it was better when the merger happened and they began focusing on the huge game releases like Doom 3,Half Life 2 and Halo 2.

I can remember in the afternoon it had X-Play Screen Savers. Then at night it had late night Anime like Serial Experiments Lain and Ghost In The Shell and ended off with Game trailers. Which was really the great part. I remember taking days off in JR high to just not give a fuck and watch it.

Sadly it went to shit right when the merger happened and it just became worse. Cheaters, Cops, Star Trek late at night. It just was absolute dog shit and it made zero sense scheduling that stuff. It was perhaps what made it's death much quicker.

I stopped watching it when I got rid of satellite TV. It was one of the few channels I still enjoyed at the time since this was before the channel turned to garbage, but it wasn't enough to justify keeping the subscription. The next time I actually watched the channel was when I was at a friends house years later and it was nothing but American Ninja Warrior followed by Cops reruns. I was rather disappointed by what it had become so I guess it was for the best that I cancelled it when I did.

I know it sounds like general nostalgia garbage but I think Network TV is one of the genuine industries that has gotten significantly worse over the past 20 years.

Begun watching some recently, theres little original or unique content. A lot of the content and channels are very similar ie. Cooking, housing tours, sports, various Simpsons reruns at any moment. I had given up watching TV for about 7-8 years so the change was jarring.

G4 was some 360 butt lickers, Kevin Pereira being the biggest. It's no surprise they went under around the same time the Xbox brand collapsed, they couldn't keep their shit propaganda going any further, those niggers would praise Microsofts shit no games netflix facebook and Kinect E3's and shit on Sony while they were the only ones making games

Code Monkeys is overall pretty good. Some jokes were hit or miss though like the excessive piss/shit jokes, but that was mostly in the first episodes or so iirc

Really a shame that they had no one on board that knew what to do and NBC wasn't going to listen to the cast of its shows. If they would have had more Con coverage and more video game tournaments, as well as original programming, stuff from Japan/Korea, etc, they'd have been a really interesting network today.
