It was actually part of the offshoot of GDQ called Hotfix that's more focused on small communities running their games. BN3, BN2, and SF3 were all run by members of TeamBN and were actually kinda fun to watch.
There were no trannies and they don't have cameras on a couch. it's just the run and commentaries.

Because I enjoyed the TeamBN stuff I looked at other spotlights on the channel. They're all trannies. Every single video besides the MMBN stuff, it's all played/commentated by trannies. It was unreal.

Saving Zero is the good ending, but speedrunners never bother in getting the mysery code to avoid Protoman from snuffing him. If Zero dies, the villain actually escapes because Zero is the one who tracks his hideout.

A variable width font allows games to have text of a varying width. For example, a lowercase i will be only 2-3 pixels wide because it's a thin character. The top of a lowercase f might overlap a shorter character like a lowercase o or even an uppercase A since it slants. Inafune has this thing with "not liking long series" so that probably factored in since he was Mr. Battle Network.

But one way or another, something like Star Force was inevitable because even things that are still huge like Yu-Gi-Oh just move on with something else and change protagonists. BN/SF just didn't win that bingo.

I would, and I get the gist of PAs and stuff, but I'm just not personally creative to do enough with chips to get a lot out of the game, and sometimes the long empty spirals of ramps and seemingly endless netsploration lacked a sorta... cohesive feeling that made me a little numb when I did it.

BN2 is a great starting point to sort of tone the games have and is great in its own right.
BN3 (blue) is unanimously considered the best game in the series and easy for most people to start on.
BN6 is considered usually the 3rd best after 2 and 3.

BN1 suffers a bit from several problems that are fixed in BN2. Like the extremely confusing layout of the internet.
I'm an advocate of playing any game series in order, so I always tell people to start with BN1, but if they end up not liking it at least give BN2 a try before dropping it entirely because of how much it improves over the first game.

Play 1 if you want to. If you don't like 1 then play 2, which fixes all of BN1's problems. If you like BN2 then you'll love BN3. Skip 4, unless you want to subject yourself to the garbage for at least one playthrough. It's generally regarded the worst edition next to BN1 if only because BN1 may as well be a proof of concept. Then play BN5, and BN6.
If you loved the series then play ChronoX and Shnaghai.EXe fangames.

Be prepared for a very different experience.

Everyone finds the BN1 maps confusing, and shitty. Play Operation Shooting Star. It's basically BN1, but enhanced with new features, including a map.

It's not your fault. BN1's net is a mess, it's fixed in 2. Power through it, I believe in you user.

Do what suggests, power through it, or play BN2 instead and look up a plot synopsis for BN1.

The problem with BN1's internet is that it was modelled too literally. It's a bunch of thin paths (cables) all connecting various computers (circles.) Sure there's the occasional Window to give it some flair, but they didn't think it through enough.

play SF3, it's good. Also suck it up and play 4. I know the playing worst story of the series 3 times is asking a lot, but it's worth it for what has one of my favorite end games in the series. Seriously, Black Earth 2 is worth keeping a save file upon freshly entering the area just to experience some of the most fun and challenging fights whenever you want. It's essentially the definition of "pointless". You can outright skip 4 and besides the villain and endgame, you miss nothing because 90% of the game is tournaments. For a game you're expected to NG+ several times to see everything with RNG determining what you'll see each playthrough, even. It's also so fucking buggy that you could soft-lock or even brick the cartridge irreversibly if you did certain things without realizing it. It continued the series at a point that wasn't really necessary, and while 5 and especially 6 made up for it, 4 really is that bad.

Anytime you want to play 4 you might as well just replay any other game instead. it's regressive and tedious.

4 also sold the most.

Which is probably the only reason why 5 and 6 got to be made and 5 got a DS version, alongside 1 getting a DS remake with a Star Force crossover chapter. 4 probably only sold so well thanks to both marketing and 3 hyping people up for anything new in BN, and if it really did sell the most, then it shows just how badly it hit for 5 and 6 to not compare either by franchise fatigue or sheer reputation.

I might play it anyways for the experience. Truth be told of the BN games I've only played 3 and 6. 3 is good but frustrating in some parts and 6 as I remember it is fucking GOAT tier outside of a nigh unplayable endgame in the burger release. At a glance, BN5 looks like the one that I might skip on account of it being unremarkable/bland. In that sense I think even BN1 and BN4 will be worth playing just for how they contrast the more polished games in the series
