It's a blast! Early game is pretty grindy, but once you can one-shot zombies, the game really picks up. Then it turds on you with special infected that WRECK YOUR SHIT. Turns into the ultimate DEX vs STR simulator.

It's the best Far Cry clone out there other than Rage 2 but the story is bland and parkouring is obsolete once you get a grappling hook. I have to mention that it has the best first person melee combat since Dark Messiah.

Well they do apparently use other stories than the usual fare, such as the ape family tree, from what I could gather. Which is nice. But the gameplay looked barely a step above Call of Cthulhu.

The grappling hook is basically only to balance out the multiplayer, they should have made it so that you can only use it in a MP match but it would have been kinda wonky since they're drop-in for human players.

I had low expectations, but ended up loving it. Great world building and exploration, polished parkour system, fun combat, engaging day/night cycle, co-op mode, looting and upgrades - it has everything you'd want from a game.
Also it's not too heavy on story, but that made me like it even more. I hate games like Metro Exodus that force you into endless dialogues of exposition I don't give a fuck about. I hope sequel doesn't get all that preachy.
