3ds can play both so the point is moot

Do you guys think a 2ds xl is worth it if you already own a regular 3ds?

yes. you should be able to sell your original for $30, making the price of a refurbished 2ds xl from nintendo only $70.

the original 3ds' screen is fucking tiny and it isn't comfortable to hold at all. n2ds is also capable of great SNES emulation.

Agreed. But whats the point of this user?

GBA and GBC are better

I'd just get a N3DSXL. It has a handful of advantages besides just 3D.

I think GBA had better overall games but the DS has a massive fucking library. I wish we could go back to having games just churned out like for the DS and the PS2.

I would agree but every atlus game got a remake on the 3ds so it’s better but it at least you didn’t say the GBA was better

Like what?

The Vita is the best, but that's just my opinion

If you have the money to spare it's worth it, I love my 2dsxl. If it's like your last 200 dollars I would say no.

3ds library is kind of overall shit

Outside of JRPGs, the 3DS is really starved for quality third party games.
The DS had so many good third party games, like Henry Hatsworth, Trauma Center, Contra 4, Meteal Slug 7, Ghost Trick, Elite Beat Agents, and the list just keeps going.
The 3DS has Rhythm Thief, Shinobi, and....

3DS can play:
>3DS games
>DS games
DS can play
>DS games
>GBA games
So the actual comparison is the GBA library vs. the 3DS library, which, if you include the virtual console probably puts the 3DS on top, but in terms of just straight games for the system only the GBA is better.

N2DSXL has speakers at the bottom front part of it instead of next to the top screen. It also has worse build quality and no chance of an IPS screen.

3DS can natively play GBA games if you mod it.

the battery is also easily removable on the n3dsxl should you need to replace it

3DS has hardware support for GBA games

I mean, if we're going to all moding and emulation than the 3DS is, of course, better; it's a stronger system and can run a lot more. I'm talking about the base off the shelf model.

All these foldable Nintendo consoles are uncomfortable to handle. If it wasn't for the 2DS, I wouldn't have bothered playing any handheld game for extended sessions.

If you're buying a GBA in 2019, you're also getting a flashcart, which is homebrew, so kind of a null point

FUCK CONSOLE WARS, post games.

All off of sd card.
That's every Nintendo handheld game ever made save for those that need some obscure hardware. The only disappointment is the battery life

still really boggling nintendo didn't do a GBA VC for the 3DS since the hardware natively supports it.

They did the same thing with GameCube on Wii U. Or more specifically, absence of it.

Not NDS you need a flashcart

right, it’s just as dumb seeing snes games restricted to new ones when you’re playing gba titles on an original 3DS

>you need a flashcart
nope, twloader

SNES requires emulation, GBA is supported natively by the hardware.

you can use twilight menu or whatever it's called, but compatibility isn't 100% for games with AP checks

Nintendo DSLite and my dad got me that r4 card which let you play literally every game without any DRM at all. What a fucking dream that was as a little kid who couldn't buy that many 40€ ds games. Best handheld every made, no doubts about it

best game

2DS XL is 200 here

DS is shit, one of the worst handhelds, tons of great franchises died on that console

> Golden Sun
> Advance Wars
> Starfy
> Custom Robo
> Hotel Dusk Room
> Tingle
> Magical Vacation

DS was truly the first-party killer, what the fuck were they thinking?

>DS is shit because it supported great entries in established Nintendo franchises which Nintendo dropped to focus on Mario and shit for the 3DS

I had a DS at launch and later a DS lite it was probably my favorite gaming system ever handheld or otherwise. Should I pick up a 3DS if I already own a Switch? I've never played any 3DS games.

If you enjoy J-RPGS and boring platformer yes but if you don't buying a 3DS isnt worth at all

The NDS and 3DS have two CPUs in them; the newer arm chip used for the DS and 3DS games, and the older arm chip that's the same model one as in a GBA. When the DS is in GBA mode the system basically shuts down everything except for the GBA cpu and what's needed to run GBA games. The only way to get out of that mode is to turn off the system. When in DS mode the GBA CPU is what handles the processing of the touch screen events, and, like the previous mode, persists until the system is hard rebooted. Unlike the DS, the 3DS always has its operating system running, so you can always quit out to the main screen without turning off the system. They most likely ran into issues with swapping the GBA CPU between "main" mode and "secondary, just run the touch screen" mode on the fly and decided to just punt on GBA games.

Yes. There's tons you can play on it.

>Golden Sun
You say that like that’s a bad thing.

If you like Zelda it’s a good Zelda machine

what about a link between worlds and kid icarus?

If you enjoyed the kind of games on the DS, there are enough similar games on the 3DS you'd probably consider them to be must-plays. You should get a cheap 3DS and then get Kid Icarus Uprising and Super Mario 3D Land at a minimum.

Still one of my faves.

thinking of getting a n3dsxl, do DS games really look terrible on it? like unplayable terrible or just ugly?

it looks like using a dsiXL

It's stretched which isn't the best depending on your tastes. If you hold start while you start DS/GBA/GBC/GB games, it displays at native resolution though but that means it's much smaller so most of the screen is unused blank space.

3DS has Yo-Kai Watch!
What does the DS have?

Kid Icarus is a legitimately good game.

everything else

ZOOMER

>implying
It’s basic as fuck even by JRPG standards

Blue pilled opinion

This, theres no point in arguing

Flight sections are good.
Ground sections are bad.
Overall, it's decent thanks to good production values and content.
