2004-2010 >Grow up on G4, ScrewAttack, Newgrounds, Game trailers >Get inspired by awesome videos about games, from original animations to generally thorough reviews and skits plus otoMADS from Nico Nico >Dream of working for these companies or making my own way as a person who makes videos about games
2019 >Industry oversaturated with streamers and LP channels with only a handful having modest success and a few whales holding the keys >All these external sites are dead (aside from Newgrounds) and YouTube is now all that remains >Majority of review videos are rip offs of the AVGN format >Animations and skits are all but dead >Uploading gameplay footage from twitch is now "content"
Honestly , I think youtube content about vidya is now much better than 10 or 15 years ago. I would take stuff like Matthewmatosis or Superbunnyhop over AWESOME GEAR SOLID YELLING EDITION every day.
It's a shame how dead Newgrounds is, but you can't have it all I suppose.
Hunter Mitchell
>youtube content >15 years ago I know what you meant but still.
Andrew Rodriguez
Oh, you're right. I was kinda gaging it by the age of AVGN, and the first episode is from 2004, but yeah, youtube is a bit younger than that.
Dylan Peterson
I'm 25 you retard
It's all so homogenized though. Find me some creators that aren't just doing the same thing as everyone else and I'll be happy.
Gabriel Torres
Well, I just gave you two. I'll throw in some more for you, if you want though. Mecahgamezilla (though he doesn't do that much vidya anymore nowadays), Pokeaim, GeminiLaser and SsethTzeentach all make drastically different content from one another, and those are only the first few I randomly picked from my subscription list. If you want to complain, complain, but atleast put in the effort first.
Ryder Myers
A lot of channels have stopped doing gaming funny enough. A common issue.
Jason Gomez
how do you parody highly politicized videogames without coming out as a huge misogynistic alt-right faglord?
Gavin Brooks
What channels did gaming funny in your opinion?
Brandon Stewart
> a few whales holding the keys
Keep making up excuses, this is why you have a mediocre life
Gabriel Brooks
I still think Mega64 does it perfectly. I often look back on animations as a good benchmark, series like the Decline of video gaming or Legendary Frog.
That's a good point. It's no longer in Vogue to ridicule games trying to be taken seriously.
Juan Lewis
Well, I give you that, the output of animation has been going down, especially when it comes to vidya. I think the transgression from Newgrounds to Youtube as the main platform for "artists" is atleast partially responsible for that.
But come on, you must be out of your mind if you think people don't like to ridicule serious things anymore. Do you remember all those Starcraft animations? Starcraft is a pretty serious game, and people still ridiculed it.
Justin Price
fuck off, phoneposter
Camden Hernandez
>lately all game animations just seem to be lol randumb or end up being some dick kick or immature sex jokes or LOOK I'M SWEARING A LOT SO FUNNY
That dark souls 2 animation being a great exception.
Angel Davis
No longer in vogue means not typical or fashionable anymore
Dominic Scott
>lately all game animations just seem to be lol randumb or end up being some dick kick or immature sex jokes or LOOK I'M SWEARING A LOT SO FUNNY Okay, user. Look me in the eyes, and try to tell me with a straight ass face that it wasn't exactly the fucking same 10 years ago. I fucking dare you.
Cameron Morris
You had some cool shit like the super Mario bros z, all those music videos with sprites like link singing we are the champions. Fuck we had lemon demons bad idea and ultimate showdown of ultimate history. Remember those gems? Of course we had lol randumbs and stuff but back then we had a mix of things. Some of the most recent game animations that I remember were good were thegamestation and Polaris before the got turned to shit. Atleast we have mashed who release some good animations once in a while.
Logan Powell
here's how people make fun of it now, don't spend more than a sentence making fun of them.
Mason Morgan
That sprite animation was trash, man. And that other stuff is barely vidya. Yeah, internet culture as a whole has become less creative, but vidya content has become better. It's kinda like this: sure, living in the wild west was probably more exciting than today. But I'd still much rather live today.
Christopher Long
I miss the kaiji anime. If I could I would delete it from my memory just to experience it again
>I would take stuff like Matthewmatosis or Superbunnyhop over AWESOME GEAR SOLID YELLING EDITION every day. As much as Arin was LOLSORANDUMB back then he at least had some kind of passion in his animations, way more than he had in game grumps.
