Why are zoomers so bad at RTS games?

Why are zoomers so bad at RTS games?

Honest answer? It's because it requires you to pay attention to more than one thing at a time and be able to plan ahead to your next action. Both are things that zoomers have problems with.

zoomer aint learn

Probably because they didn't grow up with them, and play them during critical skills acquisition phase of their maturation.

We don't learn to do strategy, only think about the next move. So how do I learn?

t. Zoomer

>Boomers don't care to teach the next generations
What the fuck?

I mean, day9 did starcraft game analysis videos which were pretty handy.

starcraft is not rts

What counts as RTS? And what's 4x mean?

How is Conan Unconquered?
I bought it month ago on sale but too lazy to open it unless someone sells me on it
Especially since it's Mixed on steam

RTS games died for a reason, aka theyre garbage and were only fun because they were the only thing you could get on your shitty computer

rts needs to be 1.
real time
and 2.
strategy
Starcraft is more like competitive cookie clicker. 4x means 4 times the strategy so you gotta be really smart.

AAA games

me zoom me hate think *presses zoom button on phone-controlled go-board* ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

fuck off retard

enjoy your dead genre that no one but cancer patients who will die in 6 months play lmao faggot

/thread

says the starcrafter

Every RTS community is extremely uptight, prohibitive, and full of people who have been playing the game since their tweens.
It was only possible to easily get into them from 1998-2002.
Since then, every RTS playerbase is dominated by mute sadistic nolifers. RTS isn't fun anymore, it's just autistic hostile real time chess. Most of them are solved games as well and only require button spamming + rote memorization of "strats".

Based on this pic and your main childhood era, are you Gen X, Millennial, or Zoomer?

Attached: 1554425635207.png (1400x1039, 3.15M)

Millenial.
My RTS of choice were Red Alert 2, Age of Empires 2, and Starcraft: Brood War.

Because there hasn't been a good RTS since 2004

And koreans ruined the genre for everyone by stripping out strategy and replacing it with gook clicking and cheese

It's a lan-party game.

Which part? There are three

Their brains can't handle anything more complex than a MOBA.

I mean, I was around for Early Millennial stuff but also Core Millennial and some of Late Millennial. I don't think they were as clearly delineated as the image insinuates.

.

Bomer here. RTS suck no matter what. Even MOBA are better (even though they're full of bullshit.I still dig SF and Warcraft 2

*breathes in*

MOBAS ARE MORE FUN GAMES THAN RTS

Koreans took starcraft way too fucking far and now everyone thinks "if its not like starcraft its shiiiiiiit" when in reality starcraft is 90% muscle memory and 10% free money

news at 11.

>zoomer: "boomer here..."

In terms of age, early millennial. In terms of vidya, late gen X through core millennial. My first console was an NES in 1989, and I played that almost exclusively until 1994 when I got my first PC, then was mostly a PC gamer for the rest of my life (but I did also have a PSX).

Although I started with NES, the vidya that defined my my childhood/adolescence were SimCity 2000/3000, the C&C series, and Diablo I and II.

Because zoomers didn't have any.

"REBOOT!"

Zoomers don't have the attention span or ability to play a game that requires constant attention, ability and micromanagement for anywhere from 30+ to an hour in an intense game. Their minds are accustomed to casual garbage like fortnite and overwatch.

is CIV considered zoomer or entry boomer?

>I don't think they were as clearly delineated as the image insinuates.
There were reruns of stuff across those periods, but it did seem like kid culture in say 1993 had a much different vibe/style than kid culture in say 1998, which in turn had a different vibe from kid culture in 2004.

Blizzard RTS was always better than C&C.

There are no good RTS games out there anymore.

You have starcraft 2 who's base game is pretty much a mindless joke and the online game where if you haven't memorized all 20 early game cheese strategies you will lose every single match

Starcraft, which has been pretty much ruined by koreans

And every other big RTS franchise has either become a phone game meme or a moba

I identify most strongly with the latter half of Early Millennial and the first half of Core Millennial, maybe I was just on one of those lines.

Civ is babby's first 4x game.

Zoomers can't into strategy and planning ahead.

Civ is the Starcraft of 4X games

Everyone knows of it, praises it, thinks its the best in the genre, when in reality is the most watered down basic bitch game the genre has to offer.

grew up mainly playing console games so I never really played strategy/rts games but im really enjoying civ rn and looking to broaden my horizon on 4x and grand strategy in general, what are some other must plays?

Early Millenial.

MOBA are way more simplistic, easy, repetitive, and are less strategic, interactive, and interesting.

>some 4-6 abilities, even with items
>CDs, so even less capability
>only controlling *a* character
>the strategy is often limited to camping up in the same location, PvEing, poking the other player(s) occasionally; there are only a few lanes / paths anyway; most of the genre's gameplay is on the same mapping
>many builds are copy-pasted
>APM is very small; (thus) action is really limited

––

RTS
>more tactical, rewarding microing
>macroing
>a much deeper and more interesting economy – amounts of areas, chokepoints, requirements for building / unit coverage …
>multiple types of units (naval, aerial, and terrestrial)
>many types of placements / buildings
>both of these are plays and counters
>diversity (basically a sandbox)
>some games are even having commander / unit abilities, for similar gameplay but with greater intensity, watch-ability, cast-ability …

RTS are the highest cap skill on videogames

Modern
>Stellaris
>Endless Legend
>Endless Space

Old School
>Masters of Orion 2
>Warlords 2
>Heroes of Might and Magic 3

>tfw poor early millenial third worlder that never owned vidya until early 200 and grew up with gen x culture

my childhood was so fucked up. hell, i remember waiting for rocky and bullwinkle and tom and jerry instead of ninja turtles or or the real ghostbusters.

>I bought game
>but I don't intend to play it or try it

The fuck is with you people.

You're right, but the new generation of starcraft players are better than the older ones.

thanks friend

This. I'd think the average retard on Yea Forums can figure this out.

Because no one makes them any more so no one plays them and has the skills.
