One of my favorite things about Neverwinter Nights 2 was how easy it was to change it to allow you to use all your party members. Typical examples with EO or Wizardry (I think) is cool, but I also loved the fuck out of BoF IV's way of doing it.
Games should just incentivise team building and rotation by having situations where specific members are more optimal. Plus inactive EXP gain
